Avocado Power Smile Dec 26, 2014
Categories : Juices

The weather was hot and humid, hence I wanted to buy a drink to cool myself. I passby this Fruiti kiosk and ordered the Avocado Power with honey drink.

I saw the staff freshly cut the Avocado into pieces and then blend the fruit with honey and ice, no water added. Hence, the wait was about 5 minutes for the drink.

The Avocado Power juice tasted very creamy with right amount of sweetness. The juice tasted somewhat like a milk shake.

Overall, I liked the Avocado Power Juice as I could taste the real Avocado in the juice, definitely worth the price. Unlike Starbucks which uses flavoured syrup for their iced blend fruit juice.

Spending per head: Approximately $5.90

Curry Bun OK Dec 26, 2014

While I was doing grocery shopping with my mother at Bukit Gombak, I saw a bakery store which I could not believe my eyes. Five buns for $3, that was very cheap and it was freshly baked from the oven, warm when I touched it. The size of buns were similar to the ones sell at Baker's Talent.

I bought the Curry Buns. The Curry Buns were very soft and fragile, I was afraid when I reached home the buns will be flatten.

The Curry Buns had a very fluffy bread and buttery aroma, it tasted slightly sweet. The curry potato filling however was little. The curry fillings though little, tasted quite spicy.

Overall, the Curry Buns were tasty. I liked the fluffiness of the bread, hopefully they could put in more curry potato fillings.

Spending per head: Approximately $3(Tea)

Glutinous Rice Ham Chim Peng OK Dec 26, 2014

Categories : Hawker Centre

I saw MyPaper review about this Fried Fritters stall recently. They had a special item called Glutinous Rice Ham Chim Peng. Hence, I went to buy one to try since this Xi De Li stall was nearby my home.

The Glutinous Rice Ham Chim Peng was selling at $1, the price was affordable in this shopping mall.

The Glutinous Rice Ham Chim Peng was fried until golden brown, hot and crispy on the outside. However the filling was chewy and sticky liked eating mua chee. The glutinous rice filling was mild sweet and blend together with the Ham Chim Peng dough.

The Glutinous Rice Ham Chim Peng was quite filling to the stomach just after eating one. I guessed the sticky glutinous rice played a part.

Malaysian Hometown Noodles OK Dec 26, 2014

Categories : Malay | Singaporean | Hawker Centre | Noodles

I went to Bukit Batok wanting to eat the Ruyi Vegetarian Bee Hoon, but it was not opened today. I saw a new stall that had opened in the same kopitiam selling Malaysian Noodles. hence, I decided to have a try.

I ordered their House Special Malaysian Hometown Noodles at $2.70. The portion of the noodles looked good for this price.

The Malaysian Hometown Noodles looked somewhat similar to our local Bak Chor Mee with minced pork, pork slices, pork liver and pork balls. The difference was in the sauce. There was no special sauce in this noodle, just dark soya sauce and pork lard oil.

The taste was average. The meat such as minced meat was just cooked in water, no marinate. The noodle  which was our mee kia, was slightly springy. The mee kia with dark soya sauce taste a bit bitter, maybe they had put too much dark soya sauce.

Spending per head: Approximately $2.70(Breakfast)

During Dinner time, there was always a queue at this new Soup Restaurant in IMM. The wait for the queue was around 15 minutes, not too long a wait.

Our family ordered the house special Steamed San Yu and Samsui Ginger Chicken. The ordered dishes took a while to came to our table, maybe the kitchen was over-wheling with customers' order.

The Steamed San Yu though looked simple was good. The fish slices were fresh, smooth and tender. The sauce was just premium soya sauce and shallot oil, it was light and good on the fish slices.

The Samsui Ginger Chicken came in chilled and deboned. The chicken skin was silky smooth and the meat was tender. This dish came with ginger sauce and lettuce. Although I found it strange to wrap the chicken meat with lettuce and eat with rice. I would prefer to eat separately with rice.

Overall the food was good here, though a family of four would have to spend at least $50.
