Chicken Chop Smile Dec 24, 2014

Food at Vivo City and Habourfront were expensive. Hence, I went to Seah Im Food Centre to have lunch. I chanced upon this Western Food stall. Their stall front looked loud and menu prices were very affordable. This was a self serviced outlet.

I ordered the Chicken Chop at $6. Although there was no queue, the wait for the order was about 10 minutes as the food was freshly cooked when ordered.

The Chicken Chop had a very tempting smell of hot plate grilled meat. The stall uncle was very generous with their brown sauce. The sauce tasted like KFC mashed potato sauce but was slightly more salty and thicker. Great for dipping the french fries.

The Chicken Chop had a slight crispy skin, below the meat was tender and juicy. The meat was marinated with tumeric and it tasted good.

Smoked Salmon Carpaccio Salad Smile Nov 16, 2013

Categories : Café

Chanced upon this cosy cafe at Robinson Quay when our initial meeting place at Kith Cafe was closed for the day.

The cafe is opened by a friendly couple, whom they not only serve the customers and also do the cooking by themselves.

Our host ordered some mains on the menu, so that we can try on several dishes.

Cafe's service was prompt, though the waiting time for the meal was slightly longer due to they freshly cooked when ordered.

The most delicious one was the Smoked Salmon Carpaccio Salad which cost $12.50.

The smoked salmon had a mild smoky aroma, not too overly smoked like the ones we got at local supermarket. The salmon meat was light in salt and soft to chew on.

The egg was poached, yellowish yolk flowing out when cut opened. But the egg white was slightly firmer.

The star was the green salad. The salad sauce of red wine and sesame dressing was very yummy and unique on the greens. The sauce tasted sweet, sourish and savory, a mixed of east and west.

Overall, it was a nice, cosy and quiet cafe with a good view of the river.

Phad Thai Smile Nov 10, 2013

Categories : Thai | Indonesian | Vegetarian | Halal

There were a few branches of Bali Thai across Singapore. My friends and I think the best branch was at IMM.

I always like to order their Phad Thai for dine-in or Takeaway.

The phad thai had nice wok aroma. The noodles tasted of the sweetness and savoury of fish sauce. The texture was slightly springy and soft to bite, not soggy.

The prawn was deep fried without battered. The prawn meat was crunchy fresh and sweet.

Yakitori Bento Smile Nov 10, 2013
Categories : Japanese

There was a takeaway Tori Q kiosk opened at Jem basement.

I had bought some yakitori chicken and pork with rice.

The yakitori chicken though grilled by machine was good. The chicken meat was tender and smooth.

The yakitori pork belly was good too. The pork meat was very fatty but there was slight chewiness and dryness.

The deep fried quail eggs was also grilled in the machine. The skin was chewy and the egg inside was not over cooked.

I liked the special soya sauce they put on the meat and rice, it was more sweet and savoury.

Strawberry Cake Smile Nov 10, 2013
Categories : Bakery | Hotel | Desserts and Cakes

Everytime I passby sweetspot bakery, I always wanted to order their cakes. This week was my Father birthday. Hence I had decided to order a strawberry birthday cake.

The strawberry cake appearance looked grand and mouth salivating. There were a few pieces of gold foil which can be eaten though I was not sure whether it was real gold.

On top of the cake was many fresh strawberries, some were sweet, some were quite sourish.

The cake was vanila sponge cake. It was soft, moist and fluffy with a thick layer of vanila mousse in between. The mousse texture goes well with the fluffy cake.
