Had dinner at Ming's Kitchen the other day. This is the Yew Tee branch and it is located at a Kopitiam food court. Business here seems good as there were many people waiting for a table. We got a table after approximately 10-15mins.

This is the 5 Kinds of Vegetable ($12 for the small size). It has Kai Lan, Lettuce, Xiao Bai Cai, and some other vegetables that I don't know the names of. I like the fried garlic garnishing as it makes the whole dish more savoury. This was finished in a few minutes because the next few dishes took ages to be served.

This is the Cashew Nut Claypot Tofu ($15). This dish is your typical claypot tofu but with some seafood and cashew nuts. It also has tang hoon at the bottom of all the ingredients. This dish is light and healthy and I recommend it with rice.

Lastly, we got the Sambal Squid with Brinjal and Lady's Finger ($10). I would say that this dish is more value-for-money than the other 2. Compared with the first vegetable dish at $12, this is only $10 and it has seafood. This chili packs the right amount of punch and the squid was soft and chewy. Vegetables were alright.

Service at this outlet needs to be improved tremendously. After the first dish was served, we were made to wait about half an hour for the next few dishes to come. Furthermore, we noticed that people who ordered later than us got their food first. When we asked one of the servers about it, he did not offer a good explanation. This infuriated us. Even though the food was not bad, I will definitely think twice about patronizing this place again.

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Dinner)

Carrot cake Smile Jul 28, 2013   (Related Review)

I couldn't decide on the white or black carrot cake so I got half-half. Best of both worlds! The carrot cake was really soft and very fragrant. It was fried nicely and it wasn't too oily. The black part wasn't too sweet as well and I gobbled it all up quickly. The sambal chili is a good complement to the carrot cake. The chili here is sweet and slightly sour with a dash of spiciness. A hearty meal!

Quick brekkie Smile Jul 28, 2013

I was leaving for a holiday the other day and was in the airport early in the morning. Didn't have breakfast before I left the house so I got some food at Wang Cafe. Ordered the Kaya Toast and it came pretty quickly. The bread was nicely toasted to a warm bronzey colour and it was very crunchy. There was a slab of butter and the kaya was spread evenly across the bread. This makes for a quick and fuss-free breakfast if you're rushing for your flight. It's amazing how a simple kaya + butter and toast combination can be so delicious!

chocolate chocolate OK Jul 28, 2013

Got this Chocolate Chocolate cupcake ($3) as a snack. It is basically chocolate cream cheese on a moist chocolate cupcake. Seeing as how much chocolate there was in this cupcake, I simply could not resist! Appearance-wise, it was very attractive. However, taste-wise, I thought that the cupcake was a too crumbly and the taste of milk in the cream cheese was too strong. The chocolate balls added a surprising crunch to the texture though. Will try the other cupcake flavours next time.

Seafood Ramen Smile Jul 28, 2013

This is the Seafood Ramen ($11). I decided not to go for the set meal ($14.90 for additional side dish and a drink) as it would be too much for me. I like the prawns and the scallops here. Prawns were crunchy and succulent. I've always liked Ajisen's soup base too. It is smooth and I will always finish it down to the last drop. I thought the noodles this time were a little too soft though. However, you can always count on Ajisen for good ramen that is not too pricey.
