hokkien mee Smile Jul 28, 2013

I can never resist fried hokkien mee. In fact, I think it may be my favourite local dish. Read many reviews that this stall serves great hokkien mee so I decided to give it a try. Indeed, it was good! I like that this stall uses the thin white bee hoon instead of the thick kind. The noodles were very soft and perfectly infused with the prawns broth. The squid was also soft and chewy. Writing this makes me want to eat it again! The sambal chili and the lime made the whole dish more fragrant and delicious. A delightful meal!

popiah OK Jul 28, 2013

This popiah costs $1.50. It was cut up into 5 "slices". I ordered the spicy one. While waiting for my order, I noticed that people before me all ordered more than 1 roll of popiah so this must be pretty good. However, it was a little disappointing as it was only alright. Like the other reviewer said, there needs to be more filling. The filling was also slightly crumbly and did not hold together. Skin was quite soft but a little dry.

soya bean drink OK Jul 28, 2013

This soya bean drink ($1) was only so-so. It tasted like any other soya bean drink and did not have anything special about it. Unlike the taste of Lao Ban Beancurd, I think you can pretty much get soya bean drink that tastes like this anywhere. The good thing about this is that it came with no ice so it was just pure soya bean without being diluted by the ice even after being left there for awhile.

Fried fish Smile Jul 28, 2013

There was no queue at this stall so I got my food pretty quickly. I ordered the Fried Fish Bee Hoon from this stall and requested for my fried fish to be put separately. The stall owner obliged happily. The fried fish were piping hot when served and the batter was very crunchy. The fish meat was soft and smooth and it tasted like dory fish. The soup was warm, milky and very tasty. I finished it all in a heartbeat. Will get the fish soup from here next time when I'm in this area.

I don't really frequent this vicinity so when I happened to be here, I Googled what was good at this hawker centre. This stall has received so many thumbs up from netizens so I thought I'll give this a try. We ordered a plate of duck to be shared among 3. I think due to the fact that we didn't request for a specific part of the duck, we got some neck parts which is so not worth it! However, the rest of the duck was alright. The meat was very tender and the gravy really brought out the duck taste. The skin was very crispy and juicy. Next time, I will be sure to specify the parts of the duck that I want or don't want.
