Laksa Steamboat Smile Jan 31, 2013

Laksa Steamboat for the true blue Singaporean! You can try to walk from Habourfront MRT, quite near – maybe 15 minutes walk.

San Laksa is worth travelling for be it rain or shine – it will never disappoint you! Good service and the food serve is constantly fresh with standard of quality. Be sure to come early to miss out on their signature dishes like the fish paste – sold out pretty fast. At San Laksa, you pay for what you order so it is quite steep if you come in a pair. Tips: only order 1 plate for the fish meat at it is $10 per plate!

You can choose to have the half and half or solely the laksa soup base.

The quality, affordable and service oriental place for steamboat! Beside Toa Payoh, there’s a number of outlets that offer steamboat menu – do call and make enquiry.

The ingredients here is healthy, more vegetable varieties and the portion is small but fresh. So you don’t have to worry that you over order and you can take your time to enjoy the steamboat. If you are bringing your parents for steamboat, Crystal Jade Kitchen will be an idea place that suit their taste bud. I went there twice and we had the drunken prawn soup base which you need to top up and can’t be refill (it will be refill with another soup base). Worth the top up still, as it is nutritious!

Ever heard of chicken rice steamboat? Then head to Thien Kee Steamboat to try it out! Very old school and vintage steamboat place that is well established, well-known with the ‘parent’ generation. Basically instead of the plain rice Thien Kee Steamboat serve chicken rice and you can enjoy your steamboat with chicken rice chili and dark sauce!

It is like Cze Tze style, you can choose what to order beside the steamboat. They even have Satay and Char Siew on their menu!

The steamboat comes with fix ingredients that comprises with the mixture of vegetable, seafood and meats so you can’t choose what you want – it just comes in a set. So people like us who don’t eat sea cucumber and some of the vegetable that’s the disadvantage.

*Be alert: Don’t go on weekends – very crowded and they even have to set up tables beyond their shopfront to accommodate!

Late Night Steamboat - Tanyoto  Smile Jan 31, 2013

If you are looking for midnight steamboat, this is the one along Clarke Quay.

It was packed and fully booked, so don’t try your luck. Do make reservation before coming to avoid disappointment despite the wee hours!

Now you know why Tanyoto place is so well received! All their ingredients comes in big portions and super duper fresh. Tanyoto even have fish head on their menu – the size of a usual curry fish head claypot! One thing Tanyoto doesn’t have on the menu is crabstick which is rather unusual.

Oh, did I mentioned that Tanyoto is a China style steamboat place? What is signature here I bet is their soup base, we have the Ma La and pickled cabbage with fish soup which is so unique!

As it is not really Singaporean flavour, it is subject to the individual taste. I found it refreshing and interesting! As it was quite packed, service standard was fair. It is hard to catch the waiters attention to place your order and they are not very attentive. The waiter walked pass our table a number of times but didn't saw the empty glasses, he didn't refill unless upon request.

T-one Steamboat OK Jan 30, 2013

A little Victoria Style steamboat place best for big group, there’s 2 level.

I can’t remember how much it was, I think about $25-$30 range.

They offer a wide varieties of choice, the Fu Zhou fishball is one of their Signature.

This place is definitely better than Bugis street steamboat. The food is decent and fresh, plus the service is well taken care of.
