FOOD

Champagne Pork Ribs

I like the sweet and sour sauce that is coupled with the crispy and crunchy pork ribs. Tasty and appealing to the taste buds!

Black Bean Stone Pot Chicken

This is one of their speciality dishes, where they cook the chicken cubes in a hot stone. Not too bad, just a little salty

Fried Prawns with Salted Egg

The salted egg is insufficient to give the whole dish that "wow" factor. Prawn is also not that crispy as well.

Fried Ee Fu Noodles

This is just a normal ee fu noodles we can find anywhere outside. Not much of ingredients. Will get sick of it when one eats too much.

Roasted Duck with cucumber

The roasted duck is quite fragrant, but too oily.

Pamelo Sago Mango

Topped with the mango ice-cream, this pamelo sago mango blends in well with the ice-cream to give its awesome taste.

SERVICE
The waitress are quite polite, and even helped us to clean the table properly so we could take photos on a clean table, unlike other restaurants which do not bother at all.

AMBIENCE
It can be quite noisy when the restaurant is crowded. Advisable to make reservations during those peak periods - Mother's Day/Father's Day

Set Menu for May OK Jul 04, 2013
Categories : Restaurant | Steaks and Grills

Jack's Place usually have different menu for their monthly promotions. Tried their creation of May by Celebrity Chef, Eric Teo.

Kakayaki Cod Fish - $26
The Kakayaki Cod Fish is stewed in chicken bacon broth, roasted cherry tomatoes and green salad. The texture of the fish is quite soft and smooth, while the "soup" is quite bland. Creative decor with the cherry tomatoes on top of the Cod Fish. I found it expensive though.

Nyonya Fettuccine with Prawns - $16.80
This is somewhat like a laksa dish, with laksa ingredients with the addition of prawns. It's quite tasty. I like the tantalizing taste of the laksa paste/ soup base. An awesome, a value-for-money dish. Recommended!

As for the service, I find them quite slow and inefficient. We waited for about 20+ minutes for the food to come. Also, the queue is always so long during weekends and public holidays!

It's like a air-conditioned high class coffee shop - noisy and packed. There is also not much of space between each table to move about, and it's very cramped.

Western dinner OK Jun 30, 2013
Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato | Pasta | Steaks and Grills | Halal

FOOD

Crabmeat Fried Rice

Traditional fried rice tossed with soft-shell crab, carrots, mushrooms and egg. The soft-shell crab is very crispy, but the fried rice is a little tasteless, totally incomparable to the type of Chinese fried-rice in other places. The soft-shell crab is the only appeal to me. $15 for such a dish is a little over-priced.

Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

These fried mozzarella cheese sticks are far much better. Crispy and the cheese is great!

PRICE
The food in Swensen's are usually slightly pricey, and that explains why I do not frequent the place. It's only worthy to have a meal here only when they have special offers for their lunch set meal. It can be as cheap as $10, but vary for different dishes.

AMBIENCE
I don't really like the open-concept restaurant in Jurong Point, because everyone can look at you when you eat, and it's quite uneasy for me. It's also quite noisy and can hardly chat over dinner with your friends. Expect a waiting time till 30 mins on weekends.

A slice of Europe  OK Jun 30, 2013
Categories : European | Pasta | Paella

On missing european food, I stepped into Ambush to have a piece of Europe on my plates.

FOOD

Codfish Aglio Olio

Pasta is renowned in Italy, and is part and parcel of italian cuisine. As a lover of aglio olio, I'm extremely fussy and picky about how the chef has prepared it. This codfish anlio olio has a special sauce that blends well with the fish, and it's rather tasty when eaten with the pasta. However, it's not that fragrant enough.

French Chicken Garlic Bratwurst with Rosti

Originated in Germany, Bratwurst is a famous finger food in Germany. There are chicken, minced garlic and mixed herbs in this grilled bratwurst. Tasty! The rosti is actually slices of potato, and it's awesome when dipped with the sour cream.

AMBIENCE

It's quite crowded and noisy especially during meal hours, and expect a queue up to 20 mins even on a weekday night!

SERVICE

The staffs are quite polite and humble, and will take the initiative to chat and ask for our feedback.

J'aime le crêpe :) OK Jun 29, 2013
Categories : French | Chinese Soup | Burgers and Sandwiches

Decided to satisfy my craving for crepes and curious to find out how the Singapore crepe taste like...

FOOD

Ham, egg & cheese crepe

My favourite combination of crepe! The crepe is quite crispy, and love the fragrance of the flour. The ham could be nicer if it were diced into cubes rather than slices, and the egg should be half-boiled kind of egg instead of being too cooked. Although it's not comparable to the crepes in france, i still enjoyed savoring it nevertheless.

Potato Leek

As a soup lover, I ordered their potato soup to try. It's a very thick soup full of potato. Got sick of it when was drinking half-way through. I believe it'd taste better if they add more water to dilute the concentrated soup.

AMBIENCE

It does not really have much ambience, as the shop is quite small, and there are limited seats to it. Most people buy and take away.

SERVICE

Like those fast-food restaurants, it's a self-service kind of thing. So you order the food at the counter, get back to your seat and wait for the food to come.
