Dim Sum @ Compass Point Smile Dec 31, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Restaurant | Dim Sum

Being the first dim-sum restaurant in Compass Point, Canton Paradise has attracted many patrons since its opening.

FOOD
Prawn Dumplings

Prawn Dumplings

The prawn wrapped in the prawn dumpling is quite fresh. However, it taste quite normal overall.
Xiao Long Bao

Xiao Long Bao

The pork duplings, Xiao Long Bao tastes reasonably good, just that its skin is fragile and gets punctured easily when being lifted up on the spoon.
Crispy BBQ pork buns

Crispy BBQ pork buns

One of their must-try speciality, the pork BBQ bun is really awesome! A bun that is crispy on the outside, yet rich and tasty inside. The bun is wrapped with sweet and juicy BBQ char siew which taste so great when eaten together with its crispy crust.
Custard Bun

Custard Bun

My favourite custard bun! It's so juicy that the paste will ooze out once you take a bite. It has that great salted egg yolk taste that is totally indescribable. You simply can't resist to ask for more!
Prawn Glutinous Rice Roll

Prawn Glutinous Rice Roll

A twist to the traditional Chee Cheong Fun in soya sauce, it is wrapped in prawn instead of the normal Char Siew, but still taste good after all.

Some baked and fried dim sums - egg tarts and the fried yam puffs. Awesome!

AMBIENCE
It's really crowded during peak hour as it's the only chinese restaurant around. So it's wise to come early to queue up! Also, I like its purple and black decor which gives one a classy feel to dine in.

SERVICE
Their service staff are quite polite and observant. They would quickly refill your glass of tea once it's empty.

Jap lunch Smile Dec 22, 2013

FOOD

Mini Dragon Roll - $9

The sushi are lined up horizontally and a prawn head and tail are added to both ends such that it turns out to be like a mini dragon. The sushi is topped off with slices of mango and tiny "eggs". It taste quite special, with sweetness of the mango complimenting the taste of the prawn sushi. Its sushi presentation is one of the best I have ever seen!

Tan Tan Ramen - $11

This tan tan ramen tastes quite normal, just that it's too salty and spicy.

AMBIENCE
A great place to dine and chill, as it's not very crowded.

SERVICE
The service staffs are quite polite and are quite fast in clearing away the plates.

Lunch @ Chu Dao Smile Dec 16, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Restaurant | Zi Char

FOOD

Nice utensils

Roasted Peking Duck (Half) - $38

One of the best roasted Beijing Duck I've ever tasted. Crispy skin with juicy meat equals to ultimate satisfaction! =) For the health-conscious ones, one may try it as it's not very oily unlike the usual peking duck.

Egg Beancurd with Shrimp - $12

This special beancurd has a very crispy skin on the outside, with its soft and smooth flesh inside.

Prawn Pan-fried with Cereal - $22

The fragrance of the dish is really so overwhelming! Fragrant and crispy cereal with butter prawns is a perfect combination! Mouth-watering dish that left my taste buds with a great impression. smile

Sweet and Sour Pork with Pineapple - $16

The usual sweet and sour pork one would die for. Its sweet and sour taste are well-proportioned and the cubes of porks are hot and crispy!

Chilled Rosella Flower - $6
This desert is like a pudding with mango cubes as its topping. It's a little too sweet, but generally acceptable.

SERVICE
The service staffs are quite helpful and friendly, as they would give the recommended dishes when one is unsure of what to try out.

AMBIENCE
It has a quiet ambience suitable for dinning. The place is not very big, so its advisable to make early bookings for those peak periods.

Dinner @ Paradise  Smile Sep 21, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant

I was eager to try out the standard of Paradise Inn in Greenwich Village, a less frequent mini shopping plaza...

FOOD
Crisp-fried Teochew Prawn Roll - $8.90

Crisp-fried Teochew Prawn Roll - $8.90

The appealing picture on the menu caught my attention, and decided to give it a try. It was pipping hot and really crispy. The ingredients inside the prawn roll are well marinated and taste so great.
Steamed Chicken with Sand Ginger - $10.90

Steamed Chicken with Sand Ginger - $10.90

This steamed chicken tastes not too bad, but its gravy lacked some sort of fragrance as compared to the one in Soup restaurant. The chicken meat is quite tender, seasonings and garnishing are too little for to make whole dish smells nice.
Hot plate Tofu with Preserved 'Cai Xin' and minced Pork - $10.90

Hot plate Tofu with Preserved 'Cai Xin' and minced Pork - $10.90

Hotplate tofu - my favourite dish for the day! It's crispy on the outside, but hot and soft on the inside. The tofu is served on a hot plate with a layer of egg at the bottom, and is topped with 'cai xin' and minced pork sauce. The tofu is really soft and smooth, but the minced pork sauce is far too salty. Perhaps it'd be better if it goes with some white rice.

SERVICE
The service is quite good as the service staffs are quite friendly and approachable. They are also fast in serving dishes and clearing tables.

LOCATION
It's not quite accessible unless you live nearby as there are only one or two public transport near the shopping plaza.

Master of Soup!  Smile Sep 21, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Food Court | Chinese Soup

Opting for a light lunch, I was eager to find out how Lao Huo Tang's soup taste like.

FOOD

Thai Style Crispy Beancurd - $4.00

Very nutty and crispy on its covering, but soft and tasty on the inside. The awesome combination comes in when you mix the sweet and sour Thai Chilli sauce together with the crispy beancurd. It's really good!

Lotus Root Pork Ribs Soup -$4.50

The soup tastes rather good, with the strong taste of the lotus roots and pork. The lotus roots has some sort of crunchiness in it, and the pork was not too hard to bite on.

SERVICE
Service was brisk, and the staff was quite friendly as well.
