Black Tea Macchiato Smile Jul 25, 2013
Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Black Tea Macchiato - $2.40

Black tea topped off with whipped cream. What a creamy mixture! Although I have reduced the sugar to 50%, it still taste rather sweet. The other sweetness partly comes from the milk. I think 25% sugar level would be more ideal to taste the full flavor of the drink. It's quite a refreshing drink when you suddenly feel like having tea in the afternoon, just that it's the chilled version, unlike the traditional pipping hot english tea.

The KOI here is like a cafe. They have tables and chairs for you to sit around as you sit chat with your friends. The surroundings are quite quiet and peaceful too.

Royal afternoon tea Smile Mar 12, 2013
Categories : Western Variety | Restaurant | Steaks and Grills

Looking for a place to indulge in good food where you can unwind and relax on a lazy afternoon? Look no further - Lawry's is your perfect choice! Their afternoon tea is only priced at $15/pax, subjected to 10% service charge and 7% GST.

FOOD

The menu

The afternoon tea comes in 2 parts: 1 savory + 1 sweet + Tea/Coffee/drinks/jucies. I went with 2 other friends for tea, and we ordered the following items:

SAVORY
Cheese & Egg Mayonnaise Finger Sandwich with Salad

Cheese & Egg Mayonnaise Finger Sandwich with Salad

A sandwich with cheese and egg filling. Though it's just like any other sandwich sold outside, it just taste extra delicious!
Prime Rib Yorkshire Roll Up

Prime Rib Yorkshire Roll Up

In this dish, the tiny pieces of beef is being rolled up and wrapped around by the thin yet long slice of egg. It has a sauce for you to dip the roll up, for that extra tantalizing taste. It's quite filling for one person as it's too meaty.
Shrimp Quesadilla

Shrimp Quesadilla

This is a prawn pizza. I love the crust as it's thin and crispy!

SWEETS
Strawberry English Trifle

Strawberry English Trifle

This trifle comes in strawberry flavour. It's soft and spongy, but taste rather sweet. Quite refreshing after a bite of it.
Brown Bread Pudding with Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream

Brown Bread Pudding with Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream

This bread pudding comes with a vanilla ice-cream and cherry seated on top of it. It's quite soft and tasty!
Homemade Brownie with Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream

Homemade Brownie with Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream

Chocolate brownie - my favourite of all sweets! It's quite chocolaty and love the combination of brownie and ice-cream.. It's always awesome!

SERVICE
The service staffs are very polite and efficient in clearing plates. However, they tend to linger around your seats or stand there and look at you while you dine, which makes me feel very uncomfortable. They will only look away when I stared back.

AMBIENCE
I love the chillax ambience in this restaurant. Nice music, good food, classy-like-a royal palace! As I sit back and relax while indulging in the afternoon tea, my body seems rooted to the seat and it cant seems to leave the place....

Space @Humble House Smile Feb 24, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant

Being the sister restaurant of My Humble House, I opted for a less pricey option while savoring the sumptuous food of Tung Lok Group - Space @ Humble House.

FOOD

I ordered the Mama Leong's Chicken Rice, which is said to be the secret recipe of celebrity chef, Sam Leong's mother. It consists of pieces of tender chicken, fragrant rice, soup of the day, accompanied with their special chili and dark sauce. However, it taste like normal chicken rice that we usually eat in food courts/coffeeshops. The only difference is that the price was tripled. The "special works" of Sam Leong's mother cost $12.

My friend ordered the clay-pot rice in consommé (something like mui fan). It consist of tofu, seaweed, egg, shrimp and crabmeat. It is tantalizing and suitable for people who dislike porridge but would prefer light something light on the stomach. This bowl of mui fan is much more worthwhile, though it also cost $12.

For our side dish, we ordered tofu coated with seaweed. Crispy tofu and a touch of salt and pork floss - good combination that send your taste buds jumping for joy! This side dish is cheaper at price of $8

Ambience
I love the ambience here! It's quiet, and their special decor of the restaurant lighted up your mood and boost your appetite as you laid back, enjoying the tranquility while waiting for your food to come.

Service
Their service is generally good, though I dont really like the uniform of the waitress. It's kinda distracting when a waitress with 'spare tyre' revealed hers. tongue Their uniform are designed in such a way that their belly buttons can be seen.

Price
The pricing is average, accounting for the fact that it is situated in Esplanade, a tourist area. However, it'd be wise to order food that are commonly seen in normal food courts/coffeshops.

Pasta  Smile Dec 31, 2013

Aglio Olio with Sambal Belachan Grilled Fish - $8.90

The aglio olio is quite spicy and fragrant. The dory fish is well-grilled such that it has the BBQ kind of taste which makes it so delicious! It taste even better when dipped with the Sambal chill sauce! The serving is quite big and it's quite filling for one. Overall, it was quite a sumptuous meal! $8.90 for such a big portion is quite worth it, though it may seems a little pricey compared to the other stalls in the food court.

Having retain a good impression from my last visit, Here I am, trying out their other delicious food again.
Lotus Chicken Chop Fried Rice - $8.80

Lotus Chicken Chop Fried Rice - $8.80

This time round, I opt for their fried rice. The fried rice is wrapped in a lotus leaf and placed in a wooden "box". The fragrance of the fried rice is totally overwhelming! Topped off with a few pieces of fried chicken, a slice of tomato and cucumber, the fried rice is just awesome! The fried chickens are hot and crispy, and it's best when eaten together with the fried rice. A perfect combination! Totally recommended and worth it! smile
