Sweet Treats @ St. Marc Smile Dec 22, 2013

Little Fuji - $6.30

Little Fuji - $6.30

My favourite desert of St Marc - Little Fuji. So it's actually a croissant topped off with vanilla ice cream, caramel and some tiny nuts. the combination is just perfect, especially when the sweet piping hot caramel croissant meets the freezing cold vanilla ice-cream.
Croissants

Croissants

The chocolate and strawberry croissants taste good too, but not that crispy as Little Fuji, which is a little disappointing. The chocolate croissant cost $2.40 while that of strawberry costs 20 cents more, at a price of $2.60
Ice Chocolate - $7

Ice Chocolate - $7

Their ice chocolate tastes great too! Thick blended chocolate with ice compliment well with the sweet deserts.

Located at a small corner of Marina Square, St Marc Cafe is just like any other coffeehouse where one can sit down and chill with family/friends, with its awesome deserts. It's not very spacious and its seats are limited. So do expect full house during the weekends.

Imperial High Tea @ $20++ Smile Jul 12, 2013
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Sichuan | Restaurant | Dim Sum | Seafood

Si Chuan Dou Hua changes their afternoon tea menu monthly, and the following dim sums are for the month of June.

FOOD

Five delicacies of the Petites Selection of Tapas

The five delicacies are: Jelly fish, Fresh Prawn Salad, Shredded Chicken with sesame, Sichuan Preserved Vegetables and Ling Zhi Mushroom with Onion Oil. Very unique delicacies from china.

Steamed Crystal Dumpling

This crystal dumpling is quite special. It has those peas, carrots, corns, prawns being wrapped in it. Tasty!

Steamed Spinach Prawn Dumpling

Besides prawn, it has some minced spinach in the dumpling. Even the "skin" is also spinach-like colour. A special dumpling!

Si Chuan Chilled Noodle with Shredded Chicken

One of Si Chuan specialities - Chilled Noodle. It's quite normal, but would taste better if it's soup based as it's rather dry.

Seafood Dumpling

It's just like the normal dumpling we see outside. Nothing special

Deep Fried Sweet Corn Pancake

So this pancake is too sweet, but I'd give a thumbs up for their creativity. How common do we see sweet corn pancake outside?

Steamed Mini Yam Bun

The texture of the skin is rather weird, and the combination doesn't seems to go well. I'd still prefer the steamed yam Xiao Long Bao in Din Tai Fung instead.

Steamed Custard Bun

Not so satisfying as there's not much of larva flowing out, and not comparable to those of paradise group which are the top on my list.

Homemade Bean curd with Wolfberry

Their special bean curd that I always love! A sweet touch of the desert was added to complete the afternoon tea

AMBIENCE
Si Chuan Dou Hua is a perfect place to have an afternoon tea with friends and just watch the world roll by... Being situated on high floor, one can admire the beautiful landscape of Singapore while having tea and chilling out. A quiet and peaceful place to calm your nerves and relax. Recommended to go during weekdays afternoon as it's really deserted. Bookings are advised to made early if you plan to go there during weekend afternoon.

PRICE
The high tea is priced at $20++ per person. It has 2 kind of teas, 8-9 type of dim sums, and it's quite filling to the stomach. It's considered cheap especially it offers good view and great food. What's more to ask for?

Weekend Brunch OK Mar 11, 2013

Categories : Steaks and Grills

After sending off a friend at the airport, I went for a weekend brunch at Astons Specialities, reminiscing the great dining experience I had at other Astons' outlets.

FOOD
Astons' menu

Astons' menu

Black pepper fish

Black pepper fish

Having missed their black pepper fish for a long time, I decided to order it. However, it was disappointing as the taste wasn't as good as it used to be, and the portion of fish seems to shrink as compared to the past. Furthermore, the grilled fish tasted bitter and wasn't very tasty when eaten with the gravy. The two sides are Onion Rings and Coleslaw.
Ice Lemon Tea

Ice Lemon Tea

The glass of ice-lemon tea was too sweet. Had to ask for ice-water to dilute it.

The view overlooking from my table

AMBIENCE
Great. Not very noisy as compared to other outlets.

SERVICE
Pretty fast and efficient. There was not much of a queue when I dined at about 12pm which was a surprise!

Malaysian Delight Smile Dec 31, 2013

FOOD
Papa Prawn Mee

Papa Prawn Mee

Served in their speciality prawn broth, this bowl of prawn noodles is served with with fresh prawns, hard-boiled egg, bean sprouts and water spinach. Their soup is really awesome! Definitely one of the best I've ever tasted. The alluring taste of the soup that lands on your taste buds just keep asking you for more!

AMBIENCE

As it was rather crowded indoors, I was offered a seat in their well-decorated outdoor section. It has a very relaxing feel, and makes you feel like sitting there for the rest of the day and just let the world go by.

PRICE
The price of their food items are quite reasonable and affordable, and their food menu are all malaysian delights.

FOOD

Concorde
The dish comes in the form of a crepe, with roasted chicken, bacon, mushrooms wrapped in the crepe. It has some rare vegetables as its topping. The crepe itself is quite fragrant and crispy, with tender chicken and fresh butter mushrooms. It tastes awesome when served with the lemon butter sauce as it just compliment the whole dish.

Hot Chocolate

Very Chocolaty and strong aroma of the chocolate. Awesome!

AMBIENCE
I like the classy ambience in the restaurant. Royal-like furnishings, quiet surroundings for you to enjoy your dinner, soft music to accompany you throughout your dinner

SERVICE
The service staffs are quite polite, friendly and helpful who demonstrated good quality service.
