Cai Peng Cry Sep 27, 2013

Opting for a light lunch, I decided to have mixed vegetable bee hoon instead of mixed vegetable rice!

I ordered for fish fillet, curry vegetables, and cai xin. Their bee hoon tastes quite normal, just like any stalls selling bee hoon outside. I like their fish fillet, which is well fried and they sliced the fillet into slices to make it easier to savour. The curry vegetable lack the thick curry taste, and so taste like a normal cabbage without curry. However, the cai xin taste quite normal.

This is a stall that I wont queue unless I have no other choices of food. Less variety, and low quality food. However, it attracted many people during peak hour due to its speed and efficiency, and is in favor of people who are in rush for time.

Dim sum @ NTU OK Sep 27, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Food Court | Dim Sum

So I decided to see how great the dim sum of the newly-opened koufu, and as such, ordered 2 of their siew mai, and a piece of carrot cake..

The carrot cake was quite crispy on the outside, but lack taste seriously. It's quite bland and tasteless inside, and I have to dip it with chilli sauce before I can even finish it.

The siew mai, on the other hand was much worthwhile. It's quite big for a siew mai, and has many ingredients in it, besides meat, which makes it quite tasty. A good choice for a short tea- break if you are looking for one!

Korean Lunch OK Sep 22, 2013

Categories : Korean | Food Court

Went to try out the new korean cuisine at The Quad besides School of Biological Sciences...

I tried their hotplate chicken set. It comes with a bowl of rice, a bowl of soup, 2 side dish - kimchi and fried ikan bilis, The hotplate chicken is well-marinated, and its marinated sauce really sips deeply into the chicken meat, making it very tasty. However, the ikan bilis have a very strong stench (those kind of fishy smell) which refrains me from eating it. The soup is quite bland though.

Dinner  OK Sep 21, 2013

So we dropped by Xin Wang Cafe for dinner...

FOOD
Carbona with Chicken

Carbona with Chicken

The carbona is not that great. The creamy sauce is not creamy and thick enough for the spaghetti to blend into it, and savoring it becomes a chore rather than a pleasure. However, the bkack-pepper chicken taste not that bad. The sauce is rather peppery, and is a good combination when eaten together with the chicken. The chicken meat is also quite tender.
Baked Pork Pasta

Baked Pork Pasta

This dish is quite cheesy, which appeals for cheese-lovers, but the pork is too hard to bite on.
French Toast

French Toast

I like the french toast at Xin Wang for its crispiness and the delicious maple syrup. It would taste better if more butter is sipped into the toast rather than placing it on top of it.

SERVICE
They are generally polite and fast in service.

Dinner @ Paradise  Smile Sep 21, 2013

I was eager to try out the standard of Paradise Inn in Greenwich Village, a less frequent mini shopping plaza...

FOOD
Crisp-fried Teochew Prawn Roll - $8.90

Crisp-fried Teochew Prawn Roll - $8.90

The appealing picture on the menu caught my attention, and decided to give it a try. It was pipping hot and really crispy. The ingredients inside the prawn roll are well marinated and taste so great.
Steamed Chicken with Sand Ginger - $10.90

Steamed Chicken with Sand Ginger - $10.90

This steamed chicken tastes not too bad, but its gravy lacked some sort of fragrance as compared to the one in Soup restaurant. The chicken meat is quite tender, seasonings and garnishing are too little for to make whole dish smells nice.
Hot plate Tofu with Preserved 'Cai Xin' and minced Pork - $10.90

Hot plate Tofu with Preserved 'Cai Xin' and minced Pork - $10.90

Hotplate tofu - my favourite dish for the day! It's crispy on the outside, but hot and soft on the inside. The tofu is served on a hot plate with a layer of egg at the bottom, and is topped with 'cai xin' and minced pork sauce. The tofu is really soft and smooth, but the minced pork sauce is far too salty. Perhaps it'd be better if it goes with some white rice.

SERVICE
The service is quite good as the service staffs are quite friendly and approachable. They are also fast in serving dishes and clearing tables.

LOCATION
It's not quite accessible unless you live nearby as there are only one or two public transport near the shopping plaza.
