Who doesn't like IKEA meatballs?! Smile Jul 31, 2010

Categories : Western Variety | Kids-Friendly

Seriously, is there anyone who doesn't love the IKEA meatballs after they ate them? I bet not.

Don't be bluff by the IKEA's big name in the local furniture industry, it is not only good in manufacturing furniture, their cafe is even more astounding with their wide range of food. I supposed everyone who went to eat there before will definitely go back whenever they can, even if it means traveling down to "ulu" places like Queenstown or Tampines.

Obviously, my favorite dish is the Swedish meatballs - a mixture of beef and pork meat, with a layer of mushroom sauce on it PLUS boiled potatoes. Gawd, this is the best combination. The sauce is what it takes to hold the whole dish together. It's like eating an appetizer and a main course together!

Next in the list of IKEA food that I love is the Chicken Drumstick (I forgot what's the real name but you get the drift). I am really picky with chicken meat actually, I like it tender, I like it when there's more than just the "chicken taste". IKEA cafe made this dish so good that every time I go back, I would definitely order this dish!

Last but not least, their another speciality is their Chicken wings! Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Most importantly, it doesn't taste as oily as what is sold outside (eg. coffeeshop). Trust me, IKEA cafe is ALWAYS flooded with people eating their chicken wings AND meatballs! Call at least 2 friends with you and order all their specialties! Eat double the share with half the price you pay!

Oh, by the way! Try not to be there around lunch/dinner hour. The queue and the wait for seats can be quite horrendous if you have walked around for very long because of the influx of crowd in there! It makes me think that everyone's motive at IKEA is to eat, instead of looking for furniture! Funny, but interesting sight.

As service is not really needed there, I shall not elaborate much. One thing you must take note is also... CLEAR YOUR OWN DISHES! lol

I <3 Marutama Ramen Smile Jul 30, 2010
Categories : Japanese | Ramen

I usually don't eat ramen when I am out, because personally I think most of the ramen stores just cook with maggie mee with a lot of MSG, which is what we cooked at home.

However, when my friend first brought me to Marutama store... It was mind blowing! Even though the noodles look like it's right out of the packaged instant noodles, the taste of the whole bowl of ramen is totally different from what I have eaten elsewhere!

The soup base is awesome, especially for the spicy ramen. Can you imagine a spicy soup base without the reddish colour and can still be as clear as the non-spicy ramen soup base? Well, I was amazed apparently. The tenderness of the charsiew on top is superb! I can totally feel it melting in my mouth and the feeling is really heavenly. Last but not least, TRY THEIR HALF-BOILED EGG (ajitsuke tamago), it taste so awesomely surprising! It's hard-boiled on the outside and half-boiled on the inside. Isn't it amazing how they do that? However, this tamago MUST be eaten with the noodles/soup as it could be very salty if you eat it alone, although it is still super delicious. mad

One of the must-try in this store is their roasted charsiew side dish! *drools*

C'mon, you can't find a more tender roasted charsiew anywhere except here! Different from the charsiew topping of the ramen, this side dish smells and taste even better! lol

Chocolate Souffle

This is so so so sooooooooooo heavenly! You can't imagine how excited I was when this dish came into my sight! Let alone darling who is a chocolate fanatic! Seriously, this is a ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME-MUST-TRY! For all those lava cake (it's my favourite alternate name for Chocolate Souffle) lovers out there, TRY THIS OUT. You won't regret it! It is totally worth its price! Mad love!

Look at all the chocolate oozing out..... The softness of the cake... The sensation of the ice-cream and the hot chocolate sauce..... Oh my....... *eating in silence*

We were so engrossed in enjoying this dessert that for once, we were so quiet while we were eating! Mmmmmmm... nom nom nom *look at the chocolate and drools* Nom nom nom... *finish eating* Awwwwwwwwwwwwww....

Chocolate Pizza with Banana Slices

I... I... love Chocolate Souffle. =x I mean... Chocolate Pizza is good. But I think I was too overwhelmed by the awesomeness of the Chocolate Souffle that I find the pizza more normal. Next time I shall try eating other chocolate dishes before the souffle! Hahahahaha... Darling love this though. He couldn't even speak when he was eating this. XD

This is my most awesome dessert ever! Seriously, EVERYONE should eat this for once! IT IS JUST SOOOOOO HEAVENLY!!!!!!!

Classy restaurant OK Jul 29, 2010

Chawanmushi

How can we not eat Chawanmushi when we are at a Japanese Restaurant?
Though it’s Sushi Tei, I find their Chawanmushi quite “average” for its steep price.

Ikura Chawanmushi/b]

Ikura Chawanmushi is more special (and more expensive than the regular one), with ikura (salmon roe) on top of the Chawanmushi. Personally, I find it very salty… Not sure whether it is supposed to be like that or not, but overall the taste is not so bad. It taste even better when I eat with the fried rice, even though I know the sequence of eating is not supposed to be like that. Haha.

Garlic Fried Rice

I <3 their fried rice! Its fragrance and the sturdiness of the rice bits are heavenly! What’s more to say? Just eat and you will know what I mean!

Gyoza

Eh… It was quite a disappointment for gyoza.
I have been craving for gyoza for the longest time, but this gyoza tastes… normal. Not bad for taste, but not what I expected that it should be.

Teriyaki Garlic Chicken
Don’t look at its not-so-pretty presentation, it’s delicious! Can’t stop eating this, especially nice with fried rice! Mmmmm… nom nom nom. Teriyaki sauce is the best Japanese food invention ever!

Overall, my experience at Sushi Tei is good... but I am not sure whether I will want to go back to eat again due to the price and the standard of the food. Definitely going to try other food there if there's chance but not the gyoza or chawanmushi anymore. tongue

My first try of KOI! OK Jul 28, 2010
Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

As everyone in Singapore knows, KOI is the new craze of bubble tea, so I tried it out and it was pretty good. Even though I still don't understand why there is always a long queue outside the shop, good milk tea still makes me happy.

I tried it once without pearls, and it taste totally different! I guess KOI bubble tea is where you MUST drink with their pearls. If I am not wrong, their pearls are specially made - into smaller size and has a different taste compared to other bubble tea stores.

Well, can try it out! It's not bad.
