After been to a lot fine dining restaurants in Japan and Hong Kong, i may consider the entire experience was not bad, slightly above average?

The flavor of 3 selections of amuse bouche increases from right to left.

The smoke was really impressive, after the smoke gradually went out , the beautiful inside appears.

The spanish mackerel was char-grilled with a crispy skin. The fish itself was tender, but no that kind of ‘melt-in-your mouth’ tender.

Probably the most popular dessert at Iggy’s – infused by the Singaporean ingredients such as Kaya and pandan. It was delight and refresh, but the flavor of ceylon tea ice cream somehow much stronger than Kaya (those yellow creme on the right side). The ‘Kaya toast’ on the back with a hot and creamy filling was quite memorable.

Then i was presented with a whole box of colorful goodness, you can choose any items as your Petit Fours: macarons, chocolates, soft candy, marshmallows or truffle chocolate. Such a perfect ending for a dessert holic.Your choice of tea or coffee is also inclusive.

Food was nice but not wow, while service have large room to improve ( as no one introduce the main course when it comes to the table). If only consider it within Singapore, the rating might be higher. Anyway, worth a try.

Housed on level 4 of Pan Pacific Hotel Singapore, Keyaki is surrounded by a beautifully sculpted Japanese garden and koi pound. This elegant venue provides an authentic setting for the exquisite cuisine.

Emark on a culinary discovery of Hokkaido with three new eight-course kaiseki presentations at Keyaki, each crafted to highlight the rich and bountiful winter produce of Hokkaido. The menu is avaiable for lunch and dinner from Feb.6 to Mar.6, guests may select from the Hokkai ($190), Donnan ($180) or Hakodate($160).

The word ‘shirako’ means “white children,” it is the cod milt and is the best produce in winter. The cod milt was slight grilled with a crispy outer layer, remain the inside creamy and smooth – just like the texture of tofu.

Consists of toro (tuna), Botan Ebi and Hokkigai (surf clam)

The scallops underneath were very fresh and tender, enhanced by the awesome homemade egg yolk sauce, and topped with fresh Ikura, the whole dish was really Umami.

highly recommend

lightly sprinkled it with salt and gently grilled to enhence the prime taste of the fish and infusing it with a smoky aroma while creating a deliciously crisply skin to contrast the delicate meat.

An alternative choice besides the savory version of Kinki fish, the simmered Kinki fish with homemade sauce comes with a twist of sweetness.

Salmon miso hot pot, a heartwarming delicacy traditionally served during the winter months in Hokkaido.

Hotate(scallops), Ikura and Uni

Sweet ending

In addition to exquisite Japanese cuisine, we particularly enjoyed the elegant ambiance with scenic views of the garden, and high quality service which feel like in Japan. They also serves weekend Kaiseki brunch at a affordable price of $75++. Keyaki is definitely a great place to go if you love Japanese food but have no time to travel to Japan.

The Living Cafe & Deli is a healthy raw food café in Bukit Timah. Started by Dana Heather, a Master Nutritionist and nutrition experts,The Living Cafe & Deli provides genuinely healthy food and drink that is truly tasty, affordable, and accessible to everyone.

The interior is simple and natural, and well lit with a retail shop for healthy foods on the second level.

Juice Bar

Juice Bar

There is also wide selection of vegan-friendly raw desserts.

Made of organic wheatgrass, celery, spinach, parsley, tastes very pure without any added-in sweetener, definitely a healthy drink to accomplish with your meal.

The original version was mainly made of wholemeal buns and quinoa patty, with carrot, celery, spinach, bell pepper, onion, mushrooms, basil, balsamic, cashew mayo. But i am not a big fan of carbs, I requested for a burger without quinoa patty, instead with more vegetables. The cost was still $18.

I got grilled eggplant and mushrooms, fresh sprouts, lettuce, tomatoes, and raw dijon mustard in my burger.

The mushrooms tastes really good, full of char-grilled flavor and was quite juicy. The only thing was not kind of disappointed is the buns, which were a little bit dry.

The burger also comes with coleslaw & sweet potato wedges (mine was changed to salad ).
Thanks the Living Cafe&Deli for settled my burger-craving, and designing my burger as requested. The overall experience was great, and i feel very comfortable to such a healthy ‘fast’ meal. Will be back for trying more food! By the way, there’s free Wifi, and no service charge and additional taxes!

Aoki is definitely my most-frequently visited Japanese restaurant. It is own by the Les Amis group, which is the largest fine dining food chain in Singapore. Aoki probably provides highest-quality set lunches with the best reasonable price in town. Not that high-ended as Shinji, Hashida, or Ichi those kinds of most expensive sushi places, but Aoki is the best besides them. We always come back for its Mazechirashi, but this time we decided to try something new.
Lunch Sets

Lunch Sets

Their lunch menu is really worth a try!

Complimentary appetizer: Seaweed with soy braised tuna chunks & Potato Salad

All the set lunches come with a fresh salad. It was nicely dressed with Japanese yuzu dressing.

Here’s my favorite food in AOKI, also my favorite Mazechirashi($40) in Singapore. Comes a very large and pretty bowl, but the food inside is even much prettier.
The sashimi cubes to shari rice ratio is 2:1, all the sashimi are in very high quality, and there’s no cheap salmon inside.
(When i went to Japan and visited several Michelin 3 stars Japanese restaurants, i confirmed with the chef that high-end Japanese restaurants will not sell salmon, because salmon means ‘cheap’).Instead, what we got is toro (fatty tuna), tamago (sweet omelette, which is some of the best in town), yellowtail, ikura (salmon roe), etc. and UNI!!!

Nigiri Sushi Tokusen ($55++) comes with 9 pieces of nigiri sushi and 1 tuna roll. Compare to the Nigiri Sushi Gyo-Sen ($33++) which comes with 7 pieces nigiri, this one uses the more expensive fish.

How can i resist toro? It is one of the best pieces in the set, absoultly melting in my mouth. Besides that, the unagi was also melting in my mouth. Their tamago is always my favorite as well.

The Nigiri Sushi Tokusen also comes with Chawanmushi, which you won’t get in the Gyo-sen set, neither Mazechirashi or other cheaper sets. There are lots of ‘liao’ inside, which includes shrimp, chicken, mushroom, kani…

Then the server comes with a two layer box, which was the Shokado (松花堂 $42++). She opened the box for us, it looks so pretty and makes us mouth-watering.

Some dessert to end our lunch. The ice cream of the day was mango flavor, along with housemade matcha pudding and mint jelly. Their pudding is all time favorite in their dessert section, really smoothie and strong flavor.

Lovely Japanese Desserts Smile Jan 20, 2015

After over 8-months waiting, Kki Cafe finally reopens at SOTA (School of the Arts) !! And the Little Dorm Store comes together with the cafe as well

Kki sells somewhat the best Japanese cakes in Singapore. Anyway i really love the place, my friend and i once was crazy that two of us ate 5 pieces at a time, in 30 minutes….we just kept ordering ordering. It’s so glad to hear that its back!

This is probably the most popular cake at Kki, most of the people will order this when they come for the first time. It looks exactly the same as they used to be, expect there used to be a blackberry on the top. NAO is basically a raspberry mousse with pistachio mousse inside, with a bit touch of raspberry jam.

The mousse itself was very light and smooth, it melted in my mouth very soon. The raspberry favor is a bit sour and perfectly combined with the pistachio mousse inside and the sweetness of raspberry jam. I was kind scared of mousse cakes because of they are usually heavy, over-sweetened and makes me feel guilty, but NAO is an expection, at least for me.

I am such a chestnut addict and i never miss Mont Blanc if i see them in any cake shop. Kki’s Mont Blanc is one of my favorite in Singapore, as well as Pantler‘s. Mont Blanc is usually available in the afternoon, after 3 pm. Sometimes they don’t put Mont Blanc in the counter and you have to ask. As i had that before, so i ask the lady to brought me one from the bakery.

The chestnut cream is very smooth and strong in chestnut flavor, although seems a lot icing sugar outside but not oversweetend at all.Underneath the chestnut layer is fresh cream, comes in moderate portion (because i hate cream!). The sponge cake under the cream is quite good, very soft and moist. The tart base is also moist , moderate hard ( i had a horrible experience at PAUL bakery with their raspberry, the tart base was hard like stone!). While the tart base is actually too sweet for me, not those kind of sweet that would stuck your throat, but comparably sweeter than other components of the cake.

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Tea)
