Cheap food court dim sum!  Smile May 06, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Food Court | Dim Sum

I was looking for a late morning snack at West Mall Koufu food court yesterday, and settled for a piece of fried yam cake at $0.80. It was lightly warm, and I added some condiments like the chilli sauce and sweet sauce. I like it that I can taste the chunks of yam in it and the overall flavour of the yam cake is not too bad. It managed to fill my stomach nicely too for a light snack plus the cheap price I paid- awesome!

Yummy Claypot Rice!  Smile May 06, 2011

I am glad that I can easily satisfy my claypot rice craving anytime as this stall in the Bukit Batok East neighbourhood sells decent and yummy claypot rice! It is cooked in the traditional way and each wait is about 20 to 30 minutes! Hence it is good to give them a call to order and then make your way down to satisfy your hungry stomachs during peak hours if you do not wish to wait upon arrival. Bao Fa's claypot rice is pretty moist and I love the overall taste of it, with the tender pieces of chicken meat, sausages and a little of salted fish as well! It shouldn't disappoint as I have patronised them for dozen of times! Next time round I might try their soups cos' I tried their soup at the Jurong East outlet before and it was pretty tasty! 1 person portion is at $5 while 2 people portions is at $8! lol

It is really great that I can quench my thirst with a healthy drink whenever I am at Bukit Batok station! What is even better is the range of prices is cheaper than the usual names familiar to us! I bought my barley drink for just $1!!! The plus point is the barley drink does not taste artificial, and you can choose between a warm or a cold bottle! I will be back soon to try other flavours and maybe the desserts!

Indulgence, P.S I Love You (:  OK May 04, 2011

After having a liking for P.S Cafe for their cakes and ambience at the Dempsey's outlet, I was delighted they located their latest outlet at the CBD area, nestled in one corner at Ann Siang Hill Park entrance. I like strolling along the streets of Ann Siang area, with very interesting shops and interiors.

Back to P.S Cafe, note that this outlet does not permit any kids so family gatherings would not be a good idea, cos of the bar area they have at the most upper deck.

Here are the dishes we had for the night! lol
Mushroom soup, truffle oils (with me amazed, or rather shocked at the portion LOL) and pork chop.

I wouldn't say much about their mains cos they are not particularly delicious, so yes in my opinion so-so. However, I would recommend their truffle oil fries! A big portion at $15! I really like the texture and found them quite addictive! But yeah expensive just cos' of the truffle oil? I suppose so haha.

The highlight is the blackout cake, but it is too huge a portion even for the two of us to share. We requested to go up to the bar area to chill despite not buying any alcohol, but just to have our desserts and the staff allowed us to do so! Beams!

This is it! A rich (very) chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! The cake was a little warmed, so topped with the coldness of the ice cream, it was quite an enjoyable sensation in the mouth. Very sinful though.

I really like the ambience in both settings, and this is a picture of the backdrop on the bar level (with my handsome BF in it haha) .

Ambience seems to always triumph taste when we talk about P.S Cafe?
In any case, this is a very lovely place for couples to have a romantic meal together and chillax at the bar area thereafter! (:

Recommended Dish(es):  double blackout cake, truffle oil fries

Pocket Friendly Western Food!  Smile May 03, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean Western | Food Court | Steaks and Grills

I still could vividly remember Louisiana Western was crowned one of the winners in the TV programme 'Campus Yummy King' in 2007 or 2008! (cant really remember, but I was a freshman back then!) Well,no one person can graduate from NTU without trying the western food in Canteen 14! It is very popular with students, and it operates on a queue system, where you place your order first, get a q number and then collect the food and made the payment when your number lights up at the stall front.

I ordered the chicken chop ($3.80) and enjoyed the tender meat topped with a generous portion of gravy & saltish fries in particular!

A very hearty meal for me and for people with a much bigger appetite, especially for guys, you can try the mixed grill set which comes with baked potato and sunny side up besides the main for just $6.50!

But on a sad note, this stall is moving out pretty soon after our exams period is over I think, or latest before the start of the new semester. I will certainly be missing the food and hopes the Auntie opens her stall somewhere in the west!
