I first came across this Indonesian noodle place when I was still staying in Novena, and I grew loving it! The place isn't spacious, but they serve great food at a reasonable nett price! The cashier auntie (whom my friend said was a Medanese) was friendly as well. As there's no service charge here, you need to collect your order once it's ready (your receipt number will be displayed on an electronic display panel).

Teh Botol Sosro
sosro bottled tea
It's served in a glass instead haha. Quite costly here, but enough to cure my craving for teh botol.

Mee Ayam - $5.50
chicken noodle
There's not just chicken inside, but also mushrooms. The noodle was springy, but I think the portion wasn't really filling.

Mee Bakso - $5.50
beef meatball noodle soup
Super love their beef meatballs! It's juicy, meaty (not floury) and had a nice seasoning. The soup was also warming and savory.

My favorite Kecap Bango (soy sauce) <3

On every table, there are some varieties of condiments varying from soy sauce, nutty chili, green chili, to vinegar. They provide some suggestion of condiment concoctions that suit a particular type of noodle, but feel free to create your own!

Happy Cow :P Smile Mar 07, 2015

Categories : Taiwanese | Noodles

Was at Bugis Junction and wanted to have lunch, but kinda bored with the dining options there. Spotted a restaurant called LeNu, which offers Taiwan-style noodle. LeNu literally means 'happy cow' in Chinese haha. There's no service charge and GST here, so upon arrival, we will be given an order sheet, and we're required to give it to the cashier and make payment at the counter. Your order will be served to your table then.

Braised Beef Shank Noodle - $8.90
I had my meal come with thin noodle in authentic braised beef soup. The soup had a fragrant herbs scent. According to what's written in the menu, the beef used has been bruised for at least 3 hours, which results in the tenderness of it. Beef shank might not be a popular type of beef meat, since it somewhat had a tough texture, but LeNu's beef shank was meaty and tender. The noodle was just okay with the right springiness.

Overall, it was a satisfying meal. Now I know where to have authentic Taiwanese noodle. Obviously will return soon.

Texas Chicken Smile Mar 07, 2015
Categories : American | Fast Food | Halal

It's weird that I seldom eat Texas Chicken in Indonesia (despite there are many outlets around) yet in Singapore, I began to crave for it when there are not many outlets available. The nearest Texas Chicken to my place is probably the Nex outlet, which still requires me to take bus/MRT *told ya I'm a lazy bum*. Recently, I visited their outlet at VivoCity before going to Sentosa.

2 pcs Chicken Meal - $7.80
with biscuit, regular side dish and regular drink
I had my usual spicy chicken with mashed potato and coke. For me, Texas' spicy chicken had spicier kick compared to KFC. Taste and quality wise, KFC slightly wins over Texas. I'm not really fond of Texas' honey butter biscuit, coz I think it gets too sweet. Popeyes' biscuit is way better. As for the mashed potato, I will put it as a runner up, while Popeye being the winner and KFC being the third. Texas' mashed potato gravy is too peppery and it doesn't have chicken bits like Popeyes'. Again, it's all personal preferences.

"Since when fast food became expensive?", that was my first impression upon migrating to Singapore. $7.80 for a fast food meal is quite a pocket ripoff (especially compared to Indonesian fast food chains where you can have similar menu at just approximately $4).

Gelatoooo Smile Mar 07, 2015

Categories : Italian | Ice Cream and Gelato

Gelateria Italia has so many branches all over the little island of Singapore. Your eyes will be pampered with the colorful sight of gelato displayed, and your tastebud will be spoiled with various flavors available.

Ordered one round of waffle with three scoops of gelato: Ferrero Rocher, Bailey's Irish cream, and hazelnut. The waffle is drizzled with chocolate sauce and sprinkled with chopped nuts. The texture was rather soggy, it was a letdown. The gelato, on the bright side, was creamy and thick. If I had to choose my favorite flavor, it would be Ferrero Rocher. The chocolatey taste is heavy, but not cloyingly sweet. The liquor content in the Bailey's flavor was quite strong, but still tolerable. The hazelnut flavor, meanwhile, was just passable.

Unbeatable View Smile Mar 07, 2015

Went to Prive Cafe at Keppel Bay with bf to celebrate our 7th monthsary. The place looked quite packed when we came (since it's Friday night), but thankfully there's no need to wait to get seated. We chose to sit at outdoor non-smoking area and got perfect seat overlooking the dock. We came at around 6.30pm, so we could catch the sunset while enjoying our dinner.

Plain water is complimentary (cold water by default) and they promptly refilled our glasses

Raspberry & Banana Smoothie - $9
The smell was 100% banana but the taste was 90% raspberry haha. It was a nice and refreshing combination. Anyway, don't you think it's too much to pay $9 for a glass of smoothie?

Spicy Meat Lover Pizza (10-inch) - $20
chorizo, salami, chili, tomato, mozzarella
It's written on the menu that pizzas would require 15-20 minutes of preparation time. After 15 minutes, a staff with rather weird and influent English (guessing she's Korean) came and told us that the chef had accidentally spilled our pizza (wth? hahaha) so she requested us to let them make a new one within an extra 15 minutes. After this incident, we joked around that we wouldn't forgive them if they spilled the rest of our orders later. The pizza was the thin and crispy type, it was decent but not the best pizza I've eaten. The amount of meat could be more generous.

The Ultimate Fish & Chips - $22
beer-battered dory served with fries, tartar sauce, malt vinegar
The portion was humongous for me! Even though I came here with empty stomach, I still needed bf's help to finish those 2 giant fillets of fish. I don't really like thick-cut fries as they're usually tasteless, but this one was an exception coz it was well-seasoned and crispy.

Red Velvet Cake - $7
By the time we requested the cake to be served, it was already dark and I needed to use flash to take the pic. Different from typical red velvet that I know, Prive's version only has cream cheese frosting on the very top layer, and the rest they just use chocolate cream. It tasted more like normal chocolate cake to me, kinda dissapointed! It was also my first time trying red velvet cake with shredded coconut topping, and my verdict was I didn't really fancy this version.

This pic is different from the very first one. This was taken just a few minutes before it's all dark.

Overall, this is a place you gotta visit even for once! Come here for the food and the view! The view is just superb, I can forever sit there, relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere! With white colored yachts and cruise ships parked at the dock, I felt like I was somewhere in Europe instead of Singapore haha. Once again, Prive is one beautiful place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
