Feeling hungry after church, bf and I wanted to have lunch at around City Hall area. Since I was craving for Vietnamese food, we headed to NamNam Noodle Bar. Thankfully, the long queue I used to see before was nowhere to be seen. There was only a lady in front of us, and not long after we could proceed to our seat already. Mineral WaterSpecially-designed small bottled water. Nothing special tho. Fruit Cocktail - $4.90fruit cocktail, pineapple, jackfruit, lychee, and crushed iceThe fruit-lover bf ordered this and regretted. It tasted very weird, he said. Even upon its arrival, I got no intention to try haha. Pho Beef Steak Slices - $8.90A visit to Vietnamese eatery won't be complete without a bowl of pho (Vietnamese noodle soup). At NamNam, you can have it with either rice noodle or instant noodle. I chose rice noodle, since I was thinking what's the point of having it with instant noodle (I was just too bored with instant noodle hais). The beef steak slices were served medium rare. The rice noodle was so smooth, and the broth was flavorful with herbs aromatic smell, as a result from 24 hours of boiling. Above all, the beef was the bomb! It was very tender, juicy, and generously given. Definitely worth the price. Dry Sauteed Lemongrass Pork Noodle - $9.90dry rice vermicelli with pork fillets, spring roll, shrimp paste, beansprouts, chopped herbs, and peanutsThis was bf's order. I didn't try it because it looked unappetizing haha. It made him regret for the second time. He complained it was so dry, too much taoge and tasted so weird. At the end, he didn't finish the dish, only ate the noodle lol. The price here is nett and there is no service charge (yeah!). Thus, you need to fill in the order form and bring to the cashier for payment. Then, just wait for your food to be served. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch here (not for bf certainly, haha). My only gripe is probably regarding of the place. It was so squeezy that the space from one table to another was probably just a span of hand. Nevertheless, the service was okay and food was served shortly. So today is my lecture recess. However, I still needed to go to campus for assignment submission, and I got a group meeting at 3pm. After submission, I tried to find a place outside campus to chill out while doing another school project, since I was lazy to go home and then go to campus again. After browsing for recommendations on internet, I decided to go to One Man Coffee. Located on the same main road as my campus, which is Upper Thomson Road, this coffee shop is really accessible. I just needed to take any bus (except 169) from my campus bus stop and after a few stops I arrived already (less than 10 minutes ride). Chance is high that you may miss this coffee shop, since the name sign is not really obvious. I have been walking past it several times yet I never noticed its existence. Btw, One Man Coffee shares the same building space with Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar, so if Crust's sign looks more obvious to you, just go in. Matcha Latte - $5Was not in the mood with cold stuff, I chose hot Matcha Latte to accompany my study. The surface was really frothy, and the taste was a bit too sweet for my liking. I expected them to do a latte art though French Toast Brioche - $10with homemade berry compote, candied walnuts, and fresh creamThey serve brunch as well! Heard so much rave about their French toast, so I ordered one. The brioche was so impressive! It was fluffy and buttery, blended nicely with crunchy walnuts. Nothing special with that dollop of fresh cream. The berry compote was super sour, but after a few spoonfuls I started to find it addictive. Overall, One Man Coffee is one decent place to perk you up. Nett price, no service charge, and free wi-fi, are some plus points to consider. I will definitely come back for that uber good French toast! "I don't want to be famous. Usually I saw Awfully Chocolate's outlets inside the shopping mall, so this was my first time seeing it located in the residential area (it is nearby my campus somemore!). The place is nice for chilling out or doing school assignments. I also spotted a small backyard with a swing behind, which I thought would be nicer to chill there instead of the indoor area. Hei Ice Cream (single scoop) - $4.90Heard so much raving about this ice cream and finally I was chanced to try it. It has a bold chocolate color, signalling the 70% dark chocolate used to make it. It tasted bitter, but not overly. I managed to finish it, although it made me feel really thirsty afterwards. Chocolate Mille Crepe - $9It was a rip-off for this relatively small mille crepe. It was actually not bad in term of taste, the crepe was chocolatey with subtle chocolate cream and cocoa powder on top. However, I just felt it's not worth my 9 bucks. I probably won't be back as it kinda overpriced for me. At least I have checked the Hei Ice Cream on my foodie bucket list. Went to BlackBall at Bugis+ with bf to satisfy my craving for Taiwanese desserts. But then we got a bit lost in deciding what to order. What I like about BlackBall is that here we can customize the dessert: choose the temperature (hot, warm, cold, or icy), the base and the topping(s). Customization is the best way when you can't pick anything from the menu (not saying their menus are not interesting, I just couldn't come up with any decision). We chose cold grass jelly base and added pearls (duh!), aiyu jelly and matcha balls as toppings. Creamer is also provided for those who want to make the dessert creamier. It was refreshing, and the portion was enough for 2. The toppings were given generously, except for the matcha balls (I could only find 3 balls!) haha. Overall, a good try. Craving satisfied. too sweet
It was my first time trying Mr Bean's beancurd. I brought one bowl of beancurd with pearl. The beancurd was actually served warm, but I put it in the fridge for a while to cool it down, coz I don't like beancurd to be served warm . The beancurd was silky smooth, the pearl was chewy. It was a nice combination between the both. However, the syrup was too sweet for my liking. Seriously, it was like 5 times sweeter than the normal beancurd I usually have. I wish I could choose the sweetness level for my beancurd just like how I can choose it for their soyabean drink. Other Ratings:Taste 3 | Environment 3 | Service 3 | Clean 3 | Price 3 Recommend 0 |
