Went to Prive Cafe at Keppel Bay with bf to celebrate our 7th monthsary. The place looked quite packed when we came (since it's Friday night), but thankfully there's no need to wait to get seated. We chose to sit at outdoor non-smoking area and got perfect seat overlooking the dock. We came at around 6.30pm, so we could catch the sunset while enjoying our dinner.

Plain water is complimentary (cold water by default) and they promptly refilled our glasses

Raspberry & Banana Smoothie - $9
The smell was 100% banana but the taste was 90% raspberry haha. It was a nice and refreshing combination. Anyway, don't you think it's too much to pay $9 for a glass of smoothie?

Spicy Meat Lover Pizza (10-inch) - $20
chorizo, salami, chili, tomato, mozzarella
It's written on the menu that pizzas would require 15-20 minutes of preparation time. After 15 minutes, a staff with rather weird and influent English (guessing she's Korean) came and told us that the chef had accidentally spilled our pizza (wth? hahaha) so she requested us to let them make a new one within an extra 15 minutes. After this incident, we joked around that we wouldn't forgive them if they spilled the rest of our orders later. The pizza was the thin and crispy type, it was decent but not the best pizza I've eaten. The amount of meat could be more generous.

The Ultimate Fish & Chips - $22
beer-battered dory served with fries, tartar sauce, malt vinegar
The portion was humongous for me! Even though I came here with empty stomach, I still needed bf's help to finish those 2 giant fillets of fish. I don't really like thick-cut fries as they're usually tasteless, but this one was an exception coz it was well-seasoned and crispy.

Red Velvet Cake - $7
By the time we requested the cake to be served, it was already dark and I needed to use flash to take the pic. Different from typical red velvet that I know, Prive's version only has cream cheese frosting on the very top layer, and the rest they just use chocolate cream. It tasted more like normal chocolate cake to me, kinda dissapointed! It was also my first time trying red velvet cake with shredded coconut topping, and my verdict was I didn't really fancy this version.

This pic is different from the very first one. This was taken just a few minutes before it's all dark.

Overall, this is a place you gotta visit even for once! Come here for the food and the view! The view is just superb, I can forever sit there, relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere! With white colored yachts and cruise ships parked at the dock, I felt like I was somewhere in Europe instead of Singapore haha. Once again, Prive is one beautiful place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Mehhh.... OK Jan 08, 2015

Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Steaks and Grills | Kids-Friendly

I was randomly craving for Thai food that night. And coincidentally, Bangkok Jam was the first restaurant I saw as I stepped into Marina Square. Without further ado, we headed there for my Thai food craving fix.

We asked one of the staff if we could sit on the sofa and she said yes. When we were looking at the menu, suddenly another staff (I think he was the head staff) came and told us that the seat we're sitting on was reserved (which means they accept seat reservation) and he asked us to move to another vacant seat, which was located in a secluded corner of the restaurant. He did request us to move politely, but still, I was a bit upset that I had to move out of my comfort zone haha.

Thai Iced Tea
It was actually not written in the menu. There was only Caramel Thai Tea Blend. I just anyhow said I wanted to order Thai iced tea, the staff didn't say anything and noted down my order. I got the Thai iced tea that I want, not the Caramel Thai Tea Blend coz I didn't feel any trace of caramel and it didn't look like it was blended. The drink was a bit diluted though.

Aep Gai - $13.90
chiang mai style grilled curried minced chicken wrapped in banana leaves
When his order came, bf got dumbfounded. "Like this only?", he said sarcastically. It didn't come with rice, so he ordered a bowl of white rice for a buck. I tried a spoonful and my, it tasted so weird! Didn't think it was worth the price. I suggested him to order dishes that had photo in the menu next time haha.

Khao Na Gai - $11.90
honey sesame chicken served with hom mali rice
I'm really blind when it comes to Thai food, so I just ordered one that sounded familiar to me. This dish tasted like sweet and sour chicken, with onion, red and green bell pepper. I wondered what on earth was Hom Mali rice, and turned out it was just normal plain rice coming with a very small portion.

Overall, the food what we had for dinner was not really pleasant. Service-wise, it was good, I must say. All the staffs were polite and always put smiles on their faces. They were prompt and attentive as well (calling them to refill the plain water wasn't a big deal). Despite the good service, I'm still unsure if I would give Bangkok Jam a second try...

Can't Get Enough of Llaollao! Smile Jan 08, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Frozen Yogurt

It was my fourth time eating Llaollao. And fml, I just knew that Llaollao should be pronounced as 'yao-yao' instead of 'lao-lao'...

It was a Saturday afternoon at 1pm, it was the first weekend in 2015, and surprisingly, the queue was short! We didn't see the queue that extended until the lift next to Yoshinoya that we used to see in 2014. Guess what, after we started queue-ing, the number of people queue-ing behind us started growing. We brought good luck, this was what we shamelessly called ourselves.

Sanum - $6.50
It's predictable that I always order Sanum every time I visit Llaollao, told you that once I begin to like a particular thing, high chance that I will repeat the order. This time, our Sanum contained chocolate muesli crunch and candy milk drizzle, and for the 3 choices of fruit I let bf decide, and he chose blueberry, strawberry and pomegranate. The yogurt as usual, nothing to complain about, it was perfect! But bf said my choice of crunch and sauce would bring him diabetes, coz it was cloyingly sweet haha. I was okay with it though. I like the candy milk drizzle and complemented the yogurt really well. It was my first time eating fresh pomegranate, it tasted unique with edible seed inside.

Overall, Llaollao's Sanum is heavenly delicious, it's become my serious addiction. You gotta order this at Llaollao, I think it's more worth it than having normal cup of froyo (but then, you decide). I don't mind the queue coz at the end it's all paid off. I'm really jealous of SP and NTU students who have their own Llaollao stall at their school canteen hais... I swear if Llaollao opens at my school I WILL BE THE FIRST ONE TO QUEUE!

New Year's Eve Dinner Smile Jan 08, 2015
Categories : European | Pasta | Paella

I had my new year's eve dinner at Ambush Junction 8. Unlike Christmas eve, this time restaurants were not really packed, we didn't need to be on the waiting list to get the seat. Serving European food, the menus are ranging from German to French food. However, some menus don't have the photo on the menu book (the menu book resembles a magazine btw), thus we had to guess how it would look like, and for some, we really had no idea what the hell they were.

Cold Water
It's refillable and served in a quite wide glass

Pan Seared Salmon & French Lentils - $18.50
The salmon fillet was big and tender. The creamy sauce was delicious as well and had pancetta (Italian pork belly bacon) bits in it. Presentation wise, visually pretty.

Sausage Plate - $14.90
with Cheese Knacker sausages, potato rosti, and saeurkraut
This menu allows you to choose 1 kind of sausage (out of 4: Cheese Knacker, Bockwurst, French Chicken Garlic, and the other one which I forget haha) and 1 kind of starch (out of 4: potato rosti, potato puree, fries, and pasta). The rosti was decent, it was crispy on the outer part and not too oily. I'm not really fond of sour cream, so I skipped it. Thumbs up for the sausage. The cheese bits oozed out as I cut the sausage. The sausage was quite big in size and juicy, no complain from me.

Overall, it was a nice final meal of 2014. Finally, I would like to say happy new year 2015! Wish you all had a great time in 2014 and look forward to a much better life in 2015.

Average Meal OK Jan 08, 2015

I first spotted Charlie Brown Cafe in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. Then they used to have one outlet at 313@Somerset outdoor area, but not long ago, even before I got a chance to try, it had been closed and will be replaced soon by Ben & Jerry's. However, if you haven't give Charlie Brown Cafe Singapore a try yet, no worry, coz they still have another outlet (I think it's the only one left) at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard.

This cafe implemented free-seating concept, and there is no service charge (but GST still exists hais).

Mango Apple Slush (regular) - $4.90
My friend ordered this, but the staff said they were running out of apple. So, it became mango slush lor. After the staff had left, I burst out into laughter. This was what I told my friend...
"Since they didn't have apple, they should have made your drink half-price as well."

Chocolate Frappe - $4.90
It was mediocre and don't even start comparing it with Starbucks'. What got me upset the most was that the plastic glass didn't came with Charlie Brown logo on it! Well, I kinda paid for the theme ya know, and how could they call themselves Charlie Brown Cafe when the glass didn't even have the freakin' Charlie Brown logo! Ohhh, gimme back my $2...

Linus' Raspberry - $9.80
hot pancakes drizzled with raspberry puree with a scoop of ice cream
Initially, I was about to have lunch here, but then I the dessert attracted me more. The pancakes were just bleurgh, they were all cloyingly floury. The raspberry puree and the cookies & cream ice cream were still okay, at least. Another bright side, the cute Linus logo drawn on top of the pancake put a little smile on my face. Linus is my favorite character in Peanuts Family smile

Overall, I was disappointed with the food at Charlie Brown Cafe. The food was nothing memorable, you probably pay more for the theme and atmosphere. If you like Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts Family members, you gotta visit this place at least once. Btw, we didn't know that we're supposed to pay at the counter (since no service charge), and we asked the staff for the bill instead. The staff then said, "ok lah, I'll send the bill to you". Hahahahaha...
