How about ‘flat beef’?  Smile May 03, 2011

Categories : Malay | Coffeeshop | Halal

When I think of ayam penyet, I expect blazing hot, smashed, crispy fried chicken. But realised something even tastier than ‘flat chicken’ – how about ‘flat beef’? (: Jurong East do offer some unique food (thankfully) and I highly recommend the Empal (beef) Penyet if you are craving for spicy food (not those laksa kind but more of malay/Indonesian kind!). This dark coloured piece of fried beef comes with super hot sambal which I totally dig! At each bite, you all appreciate the distinct taste of this flattened fried beef dish. Comes with flavoursome tofu, tempe (fermented beans cake), shreds of fresh cabbages and a bowl of rice too. Reasonable lunch item at only $5. Try it!

Pork with Winter melon Soup Smile May 03, 2011

Categories : Singaporean | Food Court | Chinese Soup

This is where I get home-cooked Chinese soups! Ordered the Pork with Winter melon Soup as the weather is so annoying hot these days! Mom said that this soup is very healthy, high in calcium and has cooling properties. Do you know that winter melon is known to remove “heatiness”? Anyway this stall has very tasty soups. This particular one which I ordered has super tender melon and meat which is a delight to savour. There’s no competition in Yew Tee too as it is the only soup stall around.

Toasts and Noodles Smile May 03, 2011

Famous for their Cantonese toasts and noodles, I frequently visit here for toasts! Peanut butter toast is absolutely a delight. The 2 slices of butter placed right on top of the thick toasts are divine. Actually their noodles is also ok as it is not those instant noodle kind which other ‘HK’ cafes served. If you are super hungry, try the fried beancurd with pork floss. It’s crispy on the outside and is delicious at each bite with savoury pork floss enticing the palatte. But beware of the lunch crowd! It’s horrendously crowded at times

A Reasonable Meal Smile May 03, 2011

Had the roasted turkey with honey oat, one of my favourite combi! Was served by this guy called Moorthy should be nominated as the most interesting employer at Subway. He is like Kumar. You know Kumar? LOL Service was really good with such a confident guy behind the counter. He asked “eh girl, want any soup blabla or add cheese or extra meat?” Good that he asked because I said yes to all the above. A complete meal at subway with soup, lots of veg (I asked for everything except pickles/jalepenos and extra green pepper) is freakin cheap and healthy IF i choose a low fat red sauce and black pepper. Fyi Subway has become the default meal for me whenever I hvae no idea what to eat. It’s a nuisance deciding what to eat sometimes. Isn’t it?

Brunchie Munchie Smile May 03, 2011

Went for the brunch. I like the wide variety of starters. There were all sorts of cold cuts, soups, breads, salads and more. The spread also includes Fresh Seafood Platter (serving South Pacific Oceanic oysters and mussels from New Zealand), Russian Mimosa, Parma Ham Crostini and Beef with Foie Gras that are ideal for any ultimate seafood and meat lovers. My favourite has to be the Eggs Benedict. It was an enticing runny yolk with melted cheese. Absolutely lovely. Also, be sure to get a glass of their sweet chewy jelly Margarita. Perfect way to end a Sunday brunch.
