Nice Bak Chor Mee!! Smile Apr 10, 2014

Categories : Hawker Centre | Noodles

Been here couple of times and it never fail to taste good. Depending on when you come, you can easily get a seat or you have to wait for a table. This time, it was busy. Had to wait about 5 minutes to get a table and another 5 minutes for the assistant to take my orders.

Recommend you to order the bak chor mee with chilli as it will make eating more flavourful. Tried eating without the chilli once and it doesn't taste nice (as least to me). Also ordered this drink which is lime with some jelly. It is nice as I like sour drinks and never fail to order that everything I am here.

The place is nearby other F&B outlets which serves other food such as ice cream, prata and mookata. So if it doesn't appeal to you, there's plenty of other food to try. But first, do try this and you will find it tasty.

Affordable lunch sets Smile Apr 10, 2014
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Seafood | Sushi/Sashimi

Went here today with my parents for lunch. Ordered Grilled Chicken with Teriyaki set which comes with Miso soup and Chawamushi. The chawanmushi was tasty although the filling could be more generous. It just had a prawn, a slice of meat and a slice of mushroom. However, the miso soup was different. Though it doesn't taste much of the original taste, the appearance of other ingredients like seaweed and mushroom made up for it.

The grilled chicken with teriyaki set came with salad, chicken, rice and watermelon, something you will like if you like a balanced set of food to eat. The rice came with seasoning of seaweed, sesame seed and if I am not wrong, cuttlefish powder which makes eating the rice extra nice. The chicken with the teriyaki sauce tastes nice and made me attack them faster than the rice.

Service wise, wouldn't say it's good but alright. Pressed the bell once for order taking but no one came at all. Upon looking at the cashier area, 3 staff were at the counter and talking until 1 saw me looking and came over. When it was time to pay the bill, pressed the bell twice before the same person looked over before coming over with the bell. Which leads to my question of why have the bell if it's not going to make anything simpler?

Overall, a nice place to have your meal given that jubilee isn't a busy place to begin with.

Flavourful Porridge OK Apr 10, 2014
Categories : Porridge/Congee

Walking around and looking at other F&B outlets, my girlfriend and I decided to try the claypot dishes from AOne Claypot House. She ordered the 3 Flavours Egg Porridge which contains salted egg, century egg and egg. My apologies as I did not take any picture of that. The porridge tastes good and strongly of ginger. If you are one who dislikes the taste of ginger, then this is not for you. For me, it was Claypot noodles which look like what you will see on a normal zi char stall. The taste was alright and wasn't exactly something I will go back for. Which also might explain why I can't really remember the name of the dish too.

Alright Service OK Apr 06, 2014

Categories : Japanese | Noodles

Had dinner at Kazoukutei yesterday. It came with a constant queue during dinner time, so you guys might want to come early. The outlet was busy with us having to ask for a menu even though we were seated by one of their staff.

Confusing menu because they had omu rice on display counters and non on the menu. Thinking it was available, we ordered that and were disappointed when they staff told us it has been sold out. Could be much better in service as there was no word of apology but just a blatant it was sold out.

The second staff was better and she took our order for one of the dishes which was not indicated in the order form. Given that the outlet was full, we waited for a decent amount of time for our food to arrive.

I ordered one Tomyan Seafood Udon (Forgot the exact name). I would say the broth is nice to me. Not too spicy or too sour. A decent amount of ingredients used. If you are looking to be full from that, then it would not be enough. That said, it is still a nice place to dine with lots of variety if everything on the menu is available.

The queue was not as long as expected. We waited roughly about 20 mins before we were directed to our seats. The restaurant was full house at that time. Service was good and we waited for a short while before our food was brought to us.

They offered 3 types of ramen base: white (original), black (garlic) and red (spicy). Didn't try it though. I ordered the Curry Bukotsu. Contrary to what was expected, it was a curry broth instead of curry sauce. It tastes nice and the ramen portion is well worth for its price. Definitely worthy of a chef's recommendation. Side dish ordered was the golden mushrooms. It is crispy and nice. Mixing with the curry broth makes it equally delicious.

Definitely a recommend for ramen lovers. (:
