Ordered 2 bowls of Ramen, one pork shoyu ramen and the other spicy chicken ramen.

The pork ramen arrived first, the next to arrive was spicy chicken (not the ramen) and this was a wrong order. We told the staff that we didn't order this and returned the dish, untouched.

After a few minutes, the chicken ramen still wasn't here and we asked about it, apparently they missed out on that order and couldn't order it anymore as they were about to close and they threw away all the remaining soup broth.

We were very disappointed as we were very hungry. However, the pork ramen I had was quite good, rich in soup base and pork was very tender.

First 25 Cafe Smile Oct 11, 2015

Categories : Fusion | Café

A new cafe opens in the neighbourhood of Tanjong Pagar. Along Hoe Chiang Road is a cafe serving Asian-Western dishes with a twist!

I was very attracted to the interior decor of the cafe which is very posh and immediately teleported me to some part of Europe where tiles are bricked in white and large, majestic gold mirrors hung on the walls.

A perfect place for lunch, dinner or just to chill out over beer with friends.

Mushroom soup with 63 degree egg and truffle oil.

What made this mushroom different from others is that an egg is partially cooked inside and upon stirring, the whole concoction of egg and soup becomes so creamy! Perfect with the touch of truffle!

Charlie's Son Wings. This is the chef's special wings, robust in flavour and definitely left us wanting more... If you love chicken wings, this would not go wrong.

Smoked Uni Carbonara. This dish is one of the cafe's signature dish. Frilly pasta and clumps of slipper lobster meat in light, creamy sea urchin sauce. The onsen egg in the middle as well as the sprinkling of truffle soil garnished over the dish makes this very unique. Not your usual kind of carbonara.

65 Degree Grilled Striploin. Grass fed striploin with baby carrots, brussel sprouts, mushroom sauce. This was pretty average but I simply adore the presentation! It was such a lovely coincident that the steak came in a heart shape!

Besides dinner, First 25 Cafe also serves affordable set lunches.

[Food Review] Old Boys Gallery Smile Sep 29, 2015

Categories : Spanish | Fusion | Café | Burgers and Sandwiches

Amidst the rows of pubs at Kampong Bahru is Old Boys Gallery, previously an art gallery now with an additional element of bistro opened by three friends who wanted a place for people to chill out and enjoy over delectable food and wide variety of craft beers.

A special place where food meets art, paintings of vibrant colours by local artists filled the walls.

The opposite side of the bistro has empty beer bottles neatly displayed, you can see the different types of beer they carry here.

As you walk down the bistro, you can find this very interesting 'Love Lock Bridge' just before the exit. Customers can write their names on locks and attach their locks to the metal railings there!

My choice of beverage was the French Rose Tea which came in a lovely pot.

We started with their Trio Plate of dishes. Priced at $21 nett, customers could choose up to 3 different kinds of starters available on the menu.

Crispy Porky!! One of my favourite over here at OBG. Cackling, juicy roasted pork served with kecap manis! Kecap manis is sweet dark sauce which is very popularly used in Indonesian cuisine. It compliments this dish extremely well!!!

OBG Wings. These wings are quite special and not too common in Singapore yet. They are marinated with Marmite and exudes a slightly sweet, yet robust and savoury flavour. Something definitely worth trying.

OBG Crab Cakes. Fresh crabs and mango relish makes such a perfect combination!

Vongole Aglio Olio. Venus clams sauteed in white wine sauce. I have a thing for pastas, especially aglio olios because I've learnt that although they are made from the simplest ingredients, it's not easy to execute them well. Here, OGB's rendition of Vongole left me very impressed and craving for more. Love it's unpretentious, honest to goodness taste!

Lastly, we finished off with Manster Burger! Topped with a thick beef patty, fried egg, with sweet caramelized onions, cheese, pickles and a special BBQ sauce served along with fries and vegetable, this would surely fill your stomachs leaving you very happy! Well, it's difficult to go wrong with burgers!

Amidst the rows of pubs at Kampong Bahru is Old Boys Gallery, previously an art gallery now with an additional element of bistro opened by three friends who wanted a place for people to chill out and enjoy over delectable food and wide variety of craft beers.

Do try their OBG chicken wings marinated in Marmite, vongole in white wine sauce and also their Manster Burger if you're really hungry because it's really huge but delicious!!!

Those living in the East of Singapore may be familiar with East Manhatten Bakery, started by Master Chef Mr John Wee who had a profound interest in baking. After spending a year in Manhatten, New York learning the fine art of American baking, East Manhatten Bakery was born, serving freshly baked authentic, artisanal bread, tarts and cakes.
Last year, East Manhatten Bakery Cafe was opened in the West of Singapore at Lorong Kilat serving not only bread but also many other signature dishes.

I highly recommend the Salmon Quinoa for a gluten free meal. Fish is crispy on the outside but extremely tender on the inside, served with very delectable creamy mushroom sauce.

The Lobster Bisque soup was very yummy and additive, definitely worth a try too!!!

Excellent beer can chicken Smile Dec 15, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Roasted Meat

We love how tender and perfectly grilled the beer can chicken was. Meat easily fell off the bones and when infused with the aroma of the beer, this is definitely one of the best beer can chickens so far in Singapore.

Main dishes could be mixed and matched and customised to your liking. They serve a a fusion of Japanese + Chinese style dishes coupled with side dishes as well as alcoholic beverages.

Good place to have a decent meal and some beer after work with friends.
We love their beer can chicken which turned out so juicy, tender and grilled to perfection. Beer and chicken essence were also extracted out for our consumption.

Mains can be mixed and matched to suit everyone's taste buds.

Excellent place for a decent meal, drinks and get together time with friends.
