Collin's Grille Bento was knowns as hawker stall that serve Western and Japanese meal at affordable price at a high quality. The business is growing well and rapidly expanding its outlets island-wide.
On 14 December 2015, Collin's has opened a new redefine dining Restaurant at the Shaw Plaza. It is one of the restaurant that has an exclusive Handmade Pizza.

Media Food tasting : http://cennds.blogspot.sg/2015/12/collins-shaw-plaza-christmas-gourmet.html

In addition to the new outlet, Collin's Grille Bento is also having a special ' Christmas Gourmet Menu ' which available in all outlet.

Orange Juice or Coffee with Lotus Biscoff Cookie ?
Thank you for excellent service and also the Fresh Orange Juice

Winter Potato Salad with Ham and Chestnuts

( Christmas Gourmet Menu - $5.90 )
The sweetness of the Honey Mustard sauce makes out the salad more appetizing. The ham was simple, if you just eat the ham without having the sauce, it kinda a bit plain. I can't deny that the chestnut is scrummy, not because i like to eat chestnut. But i found that the best of its salad was the chestnut.

Santa's Baked Seafood Parcel

( Christmas Gourmet Menu - $5.90 )
I was quite surprised when saw the parcel paper. As usually most the food that i have is either wrapped with aluminium coil or fata oil.

It contains with Salmon, Prawn, Squid, Mussel and vegetable - broccoli, cauliflower, and carrot which served based on tomato sauce. The sauce was quite watery and didn't match with the Salmon. Quite plain to eat with salmon tough it was fresh but there was no satisfied of having pleasant scent. In my personal opinion,Salmon is served better Lemon Butter sauce of Teriyaki sauce .

Appetizer Platter

Selection of classic buffalo drumlets, pork sausage, tempura squid tentacles and potato noodle prawn roll. At price of $18.90 - it offers varieties of sides that each side comes with 3 pieces. The potato noodle prawn roll makes me think of the Noodle Story potato wrapped prawn which also having the same dish. It is a good appetizer platter for sharing.

US Crisp Cut Fries ( $3.90 )

Isn't it a Waffle Fries ? The fries was crispy but i would suggest don't leave it too long, otherwise it will become cold and a bit soft. You can opt with Cheese by topping up $1.00

For Sharing : Why Shaw Plaza is the only exclusive outlet that have Pizza ?

because it the only outlet that have wood stone oven for making the pizza
After preparing the pizza, the staff will put the pizza into the exclusive oven to bake.

Open Concept Kitchen

While taking a picture of the kitchen, i found something unique for their decoration
It displays the Barilla Pasta information and also the sauce.
Does Collin use a Barilla Italian Pasta for their pasta dishes ?

Handmade 12-Inch Thin Crust Pizza

No doubt that all the pizza is thin crust because it is a hand-crust !
The preparing time is about 12 - 15 minutes

Frutti Di Mare

Frutti Di Mare is a popular multi seafood dish of Italy, literally means "Fruits of the Sea". Although some of the outer crust is over baked, but the crust is 100% crispy for sure ($16.80).
Served with shrimp, squid, mussel, crabmeat & pesto. The pizza id good enough and there is a sense of juicy frutti. It is my favourite dishes for the pizza. It would be better if they can improve to make the pizza lesser tangle. We were having a difficulty when cutting the pizza.

Collin's Special
Served with Ham, sausage, bacon, onion, capsicum, olive, mushroom, and salami ($16.80). This pizza is not tangle and crispiness are still there though the crust is over - baked. The most attracting of this pizza is the obvious big circle bacon. I personally prefer the Frutti Di Mare pizza instead this though it is called as Collin's Special.

Signature Duck Confit

At the price of $13,50, i think the price is reasonable against the food quality. No ducky smell and Perfect with shallot balsamico sauce. The whole duck leg is tender at inside and crispy at outside. It comes with mushroom ragout, salad, crushed potatoes which same as mashed potato.

Baked Caramel Banana with Vanilla Ice Cream & Seasonal Fruit

Don't be confused with Below 2 picture. Both are the same Baked Caramel Banana and
Vanilla Ice Cream. ($6.90) . The difference is only the design and fruits. Since i don't like banana, so i didn't touch on the banana. It looks interesting with half whole stretch black things which seems like a Chocolate, nonetheless it is dark banana skin after baked.
The vanilla ice cream is fragrant and good that it is not melted easily.

Orange Souffle with Vanilla Ice Cream & Seasonal Fruits

The Orange souffle is sinfully delicious and soft . It was just come out from the baked oven. When i popped down the Orange Souffle, i feel the bubble air keep against the spoon when i scoop it which makes this dessert nice and unique. ($7.90)

Dazzling Cafe, the Taiwanese dessert chain has opened its branch in Singapore in newly renovated Capitol Piazaa. There are 9 outlets in Taiwan, 4 outlets in Shanghai, 1 outlet in Hong Kong and with the latest outlet in Singapore. The cafe and its menu looks colorful and photogenic.

http://cennds.blogspot.com/2015/07/dazzling-cafe-singapore-taiwanese-cafe.html

Cafe concept looks similar like  a Japanese cute waitresses who were dressed in Japanese attire maid cafe.

During my dinner visit with my boy, we expected for a queue. We left our contact number
and lucky us after around 15 minutes later we received a call from them. Queue is expected but waiting time depends from time to tome when you reach at the cafe.

Admire the pretty owner of Dazzling cafe who is only 22 years old, rest assured to have its branch in Singapore. I think when we were at 22, we were still struggling with exam or as a working adult.

Here are some cute decoration i took. Pardon me for the poor quality picture due to its lighting contrast between dinner night time and yellowish lighting setting at its cafe

Black Truffle and Wild Mushroom Spaghetti ($24.90)

Although it is complemented by wild mushroom, black truffle shaving and tossed in a truffle cream sauce but i didn't feel the truffle. Perhaps the truffle was quite mild and it was not as good as i expected

Matcha with Azuki Beans Honey Toast ($19.90)

We were given a choice to choose different type of toasted bread. Preferably crispy type, so we go for crispy level. Offered by the waitress to cut the toast for us. It looks good and taste good especially if you are match lover ! However, the cream was more than ice cream.

If the cream is lesser and topped with more ice cream will be better.

Walking through Kampong Glam neighbourhood, saw a contemporary white interior designed cafe. On the next coming week, i was brought by my boy to try out this cafe that very different from others. It is very English. Why do i say that ? Revert back to Quoted line on the wall;
" You can't buy happiness but you can buy tea. And that's kind of the same thing "

A cozy bistro, Hyde & Co besides known for their high teas and crumptes, they also have Brunch Menu, that is soemthing different from others cafe that we shall try

Hawaiian Pulled Pork Tartine

Not much sure why the pulled pork is called as ten hour cooked pulled pork. Does it mean need 10 hours to cook this meat ? What i am sure is, it was inviting especially when it together with juicy sweet caramelized pineapple. The topped side of sweet potato chips make the food more appetizing.

The Full Works

Though it was not my first time saw a big mushroom, yet it was surprising when i saw a big mushroom served in the plate. That is what we called as Portobello Mushroom. The large Crimini mushroom was nice baked with cheese. Meat was firm and scrummy. As usual bacon is always salty! But its streaky bacon was just nice eating it with crunchy bread.

A Modern Asian Restaurant and Bar, CATO is a great spot to look for a dinner party and awesome chillax of nightlife. The new dining concept at Chinatown was stylished with a high glass doors, rough-hewn brick walls, and ebony wood tables.

http://cennds.blogspot.com

The great accompanion of music and bar at 2nd storey that allow you to enjoy much for the incredible entertainment at an elegant comfy sofa. Nonetheless, the inspiring dinner at CATO brought you to experience on the international and seasonal dishes

Prawn Bisque with Homemade Cod Fish Ball & Coriander Leaf ($12)

Presenting a tapas menu or we could say as a starter of dishes.
Using a prawn shell and a mix of fish ball topped with a Coriander Leaf on top of the dish.
In another words, it can also be a soup. The portion is as small as like an espresso cup,
just a one short drink and done . The sense of fragrance spread in my mouth.

Garlic Fries ($8)

Forget about truffle fries that mostly have in everywhere. Great serving of roasted garlic with a mix of cajun seasoning. Something new for fries munching. Some people don't like a garlic smell but absolutely the smell is not strong, conversely it become a favor smell.

Chicken Noodle Salad ($16)
It is exactly not just a simple vinegar salad dressing with a chicken and noodle from the looks. We can't judge it until you try it. Just take a few pieces of noodle and WOAW !! you can taste the heaven ghost chili. The spiceness was really numb my mouth and heart.

I stopped on the green noodle and took more on the tender meat as well as green vegetable which to wash up spiciness on my mouth. The smoked chicken was their home made from chinese tea. Awesome salad of different layer of flavour: smokey, spicy and a bit of sweetness.

Acai Cured Salmon ($18)

Exclusive "superfood from Amazon rainforest" which have a pretty good of food for us in a some way. Salmon is really fresh and though it is a bit of salty like other places, sometimes the salmon is cooked in a bit salty way, but definitely worth to try ! liked ! especially it is served with a marinated starfuit cevhice and Acai jelly from amazon.

Crispy Squid in Thai-Style Glaze ($12)
Butter calamari seasoning with fish sauce which is the thai sauce, flavoured in a bit of salty and sweet savour. The crispy scrummy yet is finger lickering.

CATO Wings in Homemade Chili Glaze ($15)
Rest assured this is not a ghost chili. It is a mild chili with not much spicy a head. The chicken wing was juicy and moist with a sweetness taste instead of spicy.

Let's pause a while for a food ! In a meantime had a Modern Times Beer
A Black House beer with a taste of coffee roasty. Have you tried out any beer contains caffeine ? If not yet to try, let me tell you that it is quite interesting and awesome smell of coffee. Thank you CATO.

Steam Baked Pork Cheek ($28)
Delectable Tender pork cheek wrapped with a fata cooking oil that served with a seasonal vegetable and dressed along with mushroom & port wine mustard sauce. It is my favorite sauce ! Tasted more like a mushroom sauce which not so creamy, just nice for the dripping of its soft meat.

Aunty Jasmine's Fish Curry ($26)

Heading on to Modern touch of the Auntie Jasmine Secret Recipe. New Zealand ling fish cooked in Indian curry's style using a home made curry powder with fragrant spices that different from indian spices. Come along with bread that good to dip together with the creamy sauce and fresh vegetables of carrot and eggplant.

Papaya Nougat Galce ($14)

Favorite dessert of the night ! What a mouth watering home made nougat topped with a fresh fruits of papaya, rapsberries, blueberries and caramelized almoond. Riched with a papaya and sweet wine reduction sauce.

Varlhona Warm Pistacho Chocolate Cake ($14)

The goodness o Chocolate cake which seems doesn't really seems like a Lava Cake. Served with almond Ice cream taste and a crunchy biscuit hidden inside the ice cream. In the middle of cake and ice cream, scoop some Fresh Pomegranate to eat

BAK KUT TEH: A-One Bak Kut Teh Smile Oct 24, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Restaurant | Bak Kut Teh

Bringing back to the familiar traditional taste, A-One Bak Kut Teh has recently opened their new outlet at Star Vista. The comfort ambience and family dining style experience of its local restaurant proud to claim themselvem as Singapore's First Claypot Bak Kut Teh Porridge.

The menu is designed by the main concept of Pork design ! which related to their Signature of pork related dishes. Don't be SHIOK with A-ONE Pork menu, as on top of the typical local Bak Kut Teh, they also serve local delicacy such as Yong Tau Foo, Braised Platter and Assorted Vegetables.

Let's start with the Claypot Porridge, followed by the soup, braised dishes, and so on..

Minced Meat with Meat Ball Porride ($9.90 )
Teochew people knowns for their dishes of Teochew Porridge. It is the same as what the porridge being served at A-One : Well Known Teochew Porridge. The poridge was really great and peppery ! Literally melts in my mouth.
It is a watery porridge which is a bit of dry concept. The main delightful of its porridge is because they are using a Bak Kut Teh stock to prepare its delicacy. Cooking time takes about 45 mins thru a high pressure cooker with a mix of white pepper.

Pork Ribs Porridge ( $10.90)
Cooking concept is the same as Minced Meat Porridge. It is using white pearl rice and bak kut teh stock with a good combination of pepper, garlic, and spices. So, what makes its porridge different from the above is : it is more watery based porridge beside the pork ribs ingredients. Though the ribs was quite tender and fresh but i still prefer a dry based porridge so that i could taste the delicacy of porridge.

A-One Claypot Porridge was really SHIOK when the soup is still hot and the peperry stock is definitely melts your delight.

Pork Ribs Soup ($10.90)
After the porridge, now it is time for Bak Kut Teh ! Well the soup is same as porridge, it is peppery ! But don't be mixed up with Bak Kut Teh stock that served in porridge, This dishes is cooked in complex broth of herbal and spices, with a pleasant thick dark brown broth color as this is what tradition delicay Bak Kut Teh was introduced. The meat is supposed to be tender, but it is not. It would be a good complement dishes, if the pork ribs tender. Well ! The best time to eat Bak Kut Teh is always to have You Tiao (fried dough ) there !

Pig's Organ Soup ($9.90)

Using a Bak Kut Teh Peppery soup, same as pork ribs soup it needs 3 hours to done the broth. In the early morning like 6 am / 7 am  they already prepare to cook the broth to its A-One standard. The fire was lighted on spot on the table. Doesn't it looks like steamboat feast ?? LOL. It is a good serving concept quality to preserve the food hot. The porky broth comes with liver, pig intestines, and pork slices. I don't eat liver so i am sorry to exclude out liver. Pig intestines are the most liked ! It is tender and meaty to eat.

Not forgetting about drink ! Assorted Fruit & Flower Tea ($7.90 )
Thank You A-One Bak Kut Teh to give a surprise drink ! A wonderful floral fragrance of non sugar tea. The dried fruits and flowers are brewed into the pot, giving a sweet taste of tea though it is sugarless. Recommended to its special drink it. The tea has Chinese Hawthorn tea, which has slight sourich touch that very good for digestion.

Braised Platter ( $ 14.90 )
Perfect braised platter of a tender bite. These dishes consist of pork, beancurd skin, beancurd puff, egg, and peanuts which have been simmered in a dark light soya sauce throughout a herbs ingredients.

Ampang Yong Tau Foo
It comes with 3 size : Small ( $9.90 ) ; Medium ($14.90 ) ; Big ($18.90)
Do you know what is Ampang ? You have visited Malaysia, KL guess you know Ampang is one of the LRT station. I have never tried any of the Ampang taste before.

But so far, Its Homemade Ampang sauce is well served with the dishes yong tau foo dishes - beancurd skin, fried wanton, crispy tau foo, brinjal, tau pok, lady’s finger, bitter ground and tonnes of kangkong at the bottom drenched in Ampang gravy. Other than, Porridge and Bat Kut Teh, it is one of the dishes that people say "Should try the Ampang Yong Tau Foo.

Dry Bak Kut Teh Chicken Cubes ($12.90)
As far as the concern of Bak Ku Teh all are from Pork, now let's change to Chicken.  A-One offered a Tender Chicken Bak Kut Teh Cubes which is still maintained the consistency of using Bak Kut Teh stock. Premium stock that being cooked together with dark soya sauce, dry chili and slices of cuttlefish makes the sweet, mild spicy gravy simmered into the dishes. They could improve on its gravy to make it more characteristics as i found that it is a bit too watery. As usually if the gravy is creamer would taste nicer

Assorted Vegetables in Sambal Sauce ( $10.90)
The assortment of greens -  lady's fnger, long bean, egg plant, sweet pea, big ikan bilis are stirred with fried mince meat and sambal sauce. Saying that it is cooked with a sambal sauce which supposed to be oh well the fragrant ! but i didn't really taste the sambal sauce. It is too light and not spicy.
