Why not start with the legendary cake which was first created by Black Star Pastry in Sydney, Australia. Just months ago, I had the chance to taste it and I got to say I fell deeply in love with it ever since.

I was really hyped to try Cream and Custard’s rendition of the famous Strawberry Watermelon Cake, keeping it light with two layers of almond dacquoise, fresh rose, whipped cream and watermelon. Finished it off with fresh strawberries, grapes, blueberries and rose petals atop. It came off a little disappointing as the bottom layer slides off the cake.

For the tarts, this has to be one of my favourite, Passion Fruit Meringue Tart. Giving off the fragrant from the made-from-scratch tart, filled with tangy and creamy passion fruit curd and covered with scorched meringue. A perfect combination and is simply the crowd pleaser that day. I must say I'm pretty impressed with the varitey of cakes available for a neighbourhood cafe!

Ideal Quick or Takeaway Meals OK May 02, 2016

Full review: http://nkikichua.blogspot.sg/2016/04/gastronomia-cluny-court-botanic-gardens.html

The highlight of the meal for me would be the brand new item, Ham and Cheese Croissant. With the made-from-scratch croissant filled with savoury and cheesy goodness béchamel and parmesan. Because of its melted cheese over and within, the croissant doesn't remain to its flaky texture but rather a soft and dense consistency. Nonetheless, I love the cheesy and creamy touch to the croissant. The Salted Egg Croissant on the other hand was too salty for my liking.

They got you covered for a healthy meal with Antipasti, choosing from your favourite combinations and even the desserts were in treats-to-go sizes.

Full review: http://nkikichua.blogspot.sg/2016/03/gorogoro-steamboat-korean-buffet.html
GoroGoro Steamboat & Korean Buffet Restaurant is location in Orchard Gateway @ Emerald, accessible via the lift in Crate & Barrel to level 4.

They offer six soup broth to choose from, namely Ginseng Chicken, Beauty Collagen, Mala, Tomyum, Tomato and Vegetarian. It comes with two soup and my first pick would be Vegetarian as it is light and tasted like Japanese oden or rather white radish soup, followed by Beauty Collagen which also has a lighter taste as compared to those thick collagen soup. If you want an additional soup, you can top it up at $5++ per table. Looking for something spicier, go for Mala though it isn't very spicy in my opinion.

Be spoilt for choice with over 70 choices for dinners and weekend dining. All the essential steamboat ingredients are there, as well as the Korean cooked food spread. I personally recommend the Korean Fried Chicken and the Korean Soy Chicken.

Full review:http://nkikichua.blogspot.sg/2016/03/seasonal-tastes-dinner-buffet-westin.html

Seasonal Tastes is an international cuisine buffet spread overlooking the city skyline, through the floor-to-ceiling windows at level 32 of The Westin Singapore.

I would say the highlight of the buffet spread lies in the grill section, with more than 6 selection to choose from. Some suggested ones would be the satay, moo ping, beef and leg of lamb. For the seafood section, oyster lovers can rejoice with the freshly shucked oysters.

Don't forget to leave space for the dessert table! It consist of seven little parts such as Alfredo ice-cream, Nonya (Peranakan) kuehs and chocolate fondue fountain. Totally worth the price if you go on Mondays and Tuesdays!

More than just ramen OK Feb 18, 2016

Full review: http://nkikichua.blogspot.sg/2016/02/xin-hao-ramen-bugis-cube-singapore.html

Xin Hao Ramen fortes lies in combing Japanese flavours with modern ingredients and offering them at affordable prices in a rustic setting. Even their ordering system is pretty straight forward with the self-service paperless innovation. Having the menu placed right at the entrance of the shop, choose your choice of ramen and proceed to the cashier with the wooden tags.

Besides the Salted, Miso, Spicy and Shoyu Ramen being the mainstays, I would prefer the Shoyu ramen more than the others. A downside is that the soup lacks the consistency as each bowl of ramen is made on the spot using the same base; tonkotsu soup, hence it may get a little too salty.

However, I'm very pleased with the new item, Grilled Meat Don or Tempura Ebi Don. It's a bowl of Japanese rice topped with grilled meat or tempura ebi, runny egg and drizzled with spiced soya sauce. It also comes with deep fried enoki mushroom and Tonkotsu soup.
