Owners behind Stateland & Honeycomb started another new wings joint opened at Lor Telok to follow the current Korean fried chicken trend.

Last Saturday, I went to try it out with my hubby. First impression already failed us because it's supposed to operate at 12noon but when we walk past the back alley at 12.10pm, chefs were smoking behind. When we stepped into the shop, the lady assistant told us that kitchen wasn't ready and ask us to come back 20-30mins later So we went to have ramen first. Our tummies were almost 80% full before we complete of actual mission of trying out the wings.
At Chick and Ken, the deco is the same as Stateland cafe. We only ordered 4 whole wings, 2 flavours of Salted egg + Yangnyeom, & a drink. No space for other dishes.

From many social media channels, I saw most people like their salted egg wings more. But for me, No WOW factor because my hubby makes better Salted Egg sauce than this 😁
Without the coated sauce, the wings are just bland wings. If only they were marinated...
Compared to the Salted Egg wings, I prefer the red ones, Yangnyeom wings But I prefer them to be more spicy, if possible.
Love the crunchiness of the peanuts & the nuts fragrance aftertaste that stays in my mouth
Probably I won't visit again for their wings, unless jio by friends. But I may come try their bingsu when I'm around this vicinity or if I'm super free

[Song Fa Bak Kut Teh]
Location: The Seletar Mall
My 1st visit at Song Fa although they have have been around in the market for so many years. It was very crowded when my family & I visited this Seletar Mall branch. We queued for 35mins before the waitress showed us to our seats.
Decor: The whole place was decorated like 1970s old nanyang style, with those attap house roof & harbour/jetty wallpaper. Dark walnut colored wooden tables & stools were used in this Song Fa. An old replicated Bak Kut Teh wooden cart stall was also displayed outside the restaurant.
Service: Staff were very attentive. Their speedy service in clearing up the tables after customers leaves, deserves a thumbs up. Customers queuing outside are also given the menu to order food first. Food served once we are seated.
Food: Song Fa BKT serves ribs in peppery broth. Every sip is filled with the pepper and spices fragrant. The meat on the ribs is tender too.
Soaking the dough fritters into the soup before I gulp it down is a "must-do" step as the 油炸鬼 tastes better this way!
The Liver + Kidney soup that we ordered, comes in the same peppery soup as the ribs. Best part is, the liver & kidney are so soft & not overcooked. Yum!
The pork trotters meat are not as tender as what we expect it to be but at least the springy "Q" texture is still in the skin. The intestines "粉肠" that my hubby adds on, is so flavourful. It has already absorbed all the gravy when cooking.
My family & I also ordered some greens to go along with so much meat that we consume. The poached Kailan with oyster sauce and preserved salty vegetable. And after all the fatty food, we put our Song Fa journey to an end by enjoying mini cups of chinese tea to digest some of the oil inside our tummy.. Haha..
Experience: The overall experience was good and my family liked the food also. Although Song Fa BKT is yet the best I've eaten but their standards are definitely above average. Keep it up, boys!

[Hungry Heros]
Location: 33 Tessensohn Road (S)217656
Decor: Superheroes Themed Restaurant. From the shopfront, nothing impresses you until you pushed open that glass door of theirs. WOW! Bam!! What an eye opener! The whole restaurant are displayed with lotsa Superheroes figurines. From small to life sized, very impressive! Lotsa toy guns are glued on the ceiling near the bar counter. Posters & Paintings of superheroes are hung up for sale too.
Level one projects a more cosy area, with dimmer, yellow light shining throughout.
Level two is more brightly lit, you could see the figurines & displays clearer & the area is a lot more spacious than level one. There were pretty lights, planes etc. Customers are busy taking photos, while disturbing the rest of diners there! Lol
Service: Staff were very polite & attentive. Due to no reservations made, and restaurant indoor area was full, hubby & I took up the alfresco seating area. The staff showed us to our seats very quickly & present us with the menu. Despite busy night, the staff still attended to our requests, went through the menu with us & also introduced us to their signature dishes.
Food: Hubby & I ordered a Mac & cheese as starters and the "Nice to meat you" platter as main. The platter feeds 2-3 paxs. It includes Pulled Pork, De-boned Chicken, Half rack Ribs, Sirloin steak, Roast potatoes/fries, Bread, Salad & corn. As i don't take beef, the kitchen separately plated the sirloin steak on another tray for my hubby
Mac & cheese tasted pretty normal but no wow factor for me. You can skip it! The food presentation was normal, with everything placed on an rectangular aluminum tray.
Pulled Pork was very flavourful. But somehow It gave me a similar taste like those canned pork cubes that I always loved! Heehee Hubby accompanies it with the bread slices provided.
The de-boned chicken was very tender. The best part was the chicken skin. Slight crispy with the Bbq "chao ta" taste running around my tongue! Woohoo!! It's heaven!
Pork ribs was sweet on the outside & soft on the inside. Well marinated & tasted good too ;)
As for the sirloin steak, I can't comment because I don't take beef but hubby said it was good. Especially with the accompanied "hero sauce". You can choose either this or mushroom sauce or black pepper sauce to go along. Medium rare was done perfectly!
This platter portion is pretty big and we could not finished ours.
Experience: overall experience was very good. After dinner, my hubby & I went round the whole place to take more pictures before we go off. So fun! I will definitely come again!! This is definitely a cool place for families & friends gathering!

Situated along Rangoon road, there is this small shop, The Cold Pantry, selling frozen yogurt. When I stepped into the shop, the light colors they used in their shop brighten up my day I was greeted a very warm welcome by 3 ladies in the shop, I believed one of them is the creator of The Cold Pantry.

The menu was passed to me quickly and for my first glance, I saw this exciting combi "Movie date" which consists of popcorn & nachos !! I immediately chose it My younger brother chose the "Dark Desire" as he is nuts over chocolate! It took quite awhile for our frozen yogurt to be served so I went round the shop taking photos. There are props provided too to let customers take fun shots within their shop premises.

After our yogurt is served, I immediately scooped all the way to the bottom of the glass, where I could taste nachos, frozen yogurt & popcorn all in 1 mouthful. The "Movie date" combi was surprising yummy & fun! The "Dark Desire" combi wasn't as fantastic as the "Movie date", as Oreos + Pound cake combi didn't spark off but my younger brother still loves it because he said its very choco-licious! Lol Both cups are $5.90 each.

Definitely we will come back for 2nd round as there are other interesting combi on the menu! Stay tune for more updates on my page

[Honeycomb]
I came across this new ice cream station, Honeycomb, while cafe-ing at neighboring Stateland cafe.
It was quiet with no customers when I stepped in during meal times. Probably not much people know about them yet.
The interiors have displays of old equipments such as old skool telephone, fan, chairs etc but also with added modern items such as Craftholics plush which don't really blend in. There's only 1 lady working & she was busy pasting the logo stickers on every paper cups they using to store the frozen yogurt when I walked in.
There are 5 choices of frozen yogurt combi to chose from. Differences are the toppings which includes chocolate sauce, salted caramel sauce, matcha granola etc. I ordered the classic version, original frozen yogurt with honeycomb & liquid honey syringe. This portion is $6.00
The frozen yogurt texture is smooth, but the piece of raw honeycomb wasn't really tasted. The liquid honey from the syringe is too sweet for my liking also.
Well well, I will continue to search for better frozen yogurt
