The Works Smile Feb 13, 2011

Categories : American | Restaurant | Burgers and Sandwiches

I was back at The HandBurger again for the 3rd time in just 2 months of 2011! I just cannot resist coming back for more burgers and lychee mint crush!

This is really a great place for a casual dining out session with friends. From my countless dining experiences at THB, i knew that they serve quite a big portion for one person, hence i shared 'The Works' with my girl-friend. The beef was well done but it wasnt tough.

It was another enjoyable dinner at THB! smile Should register myself as a THB member on its website!

Must-Buy Bak Kwa for CNY! Smile Feb 13, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : BBQ

Happy Chinese New Year to Everyone! What are your favourite CNY must-have goodies? For me, its Bak Kwa (Sliced Pork)! I came across Bee Cheng Hiang's store at Jurong Point and saw that the Q was quite short, hence decided to get 1 kg of Bak Kwa! Surprisingly, the queue this year was shorter compared to last year. There were a number of choices such as the Coin shaped (choice of pork or chicken)and the typical Square ones. I bought the square ones. I still prefer Bee Cheng hiang's Bak Kwa compared to Fragance. Hope that they will maintain their standard! lol

mont blanc OK Dec 23, 2010
Categories : Japanese | Bakery

I was on a lookout for a great birthday cake and came across kki on openrice due to many recommendations!
The website is not working, hence the prices and choices of cakes can only be found on its facebook. Apparently, i felt in love with Dumo and I wanted to order CAFÉ DUMO - Chocolate Coffee mousse with Praline centre (14cm Serves up to 7 $48) but they need at least 3 days in advance to bake it. I needed it in 2 days. Hence, there goes my dumo cake. sad

I came to the shop about 6pm and they only had a few cakes left. So i bought a Mont Blanc instead. The outer layer tasted kind of unique as its made of coconut. However the sponge cake and crust at the bottom of the cake was fab.

Hope i'm able to get Dumo next time! Or Maya also can! Both looks so yummy! !

legendary fei fei wanton OK Dec 23, 2010
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Coffeeshop | Noodles

Heard so much about this 'fei fei' wanton but the taste of it didnt wow me. Was here with bf's parents and they said that they loved this noodles since more than 30yrs back when they lived at joo chiat. However, the standard of the food kind of dropped and it tasted simply average. We also ordered fried wantons. Other than being crispy on the skin, the fillings werent fulfilling. It was kind of superficial. I was expecting something more than just its heritage.

crispy, tender & juicy dim sums Smile Dec 22, 2010
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Hotel | Dim Sum | Seafood

I had a great dim sum experience here for a relative's bday celebration. It was a buffet, hence we ordered as much as we could and really 'pig' it out with the widespread of dimsums!! smile

The egg tarts came in 'mini' size - (a lil smaller than the palm) and it tasted crispy on the outside and fluffy within. Love it!

I also ate some custard buns, they tasted great too.

Roasted Pork is a must-have for chinese celebrations (esp birthdays). When i had my first bite, i was 'WOW' by the combined texture of the skin(crispy), meat(tender) & fats(juicy).

It was a bday celebration for 60th. Hence we also had a big plate of longevity buns (寿桃) on our dining table. It came with many small buns and a giant one!! smile I love eating these buns because the lotus paste fillings are sweet.

I believe this restaurant will serve as a good choice for reunion dinner for CNY 2011! smile
