Watami @ Raffles OK Jan 21, 2012
Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

Choosing a place where there ISN'T a Q on this particular weekday night, was this Japanese resto Watami.

My two friends were dying of hunger while I snacked away as I've eaten previously.

They ordered the regular set meal with all the Japanese things while I ordered french fries bucket (of all places, I know. But then again, this is so western!) and it came first, being in a bucket (cute tongue lol) but portion was tiny, and the tomato and mayo dip.

As for the main meal, altho no photo was taken, I tried here and there for the meal and I can generalize in one word: NORMAL.

Portion wise was smaller than the norm and the price was ravishingly high, I wonder why people still come around. Sister Waraku is so much better hands down.

And if again was a Jap resto with appetizers as western as French fries instead of fried taro, then you're in the wrong mix. But in general, the food is edible, good, but not too highly good.

X-mas sundae Icecream! OK Jan 19, 2012

Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato | Pasta | Steaks and Grills | Halal

It was December. Early December, and Christmas season dawned upon many social places. One was Swensens to have published a special Christmas menu!

Enticed by the range of sundaes and pretty desserts, my friend and I agreed to choose one after our meal - which was the standard normal Swensens western meal of chicken chop, no further elaboration needed. This was the highlight~!

Ordering the Berry sweet xmas special with longans, kiwi and strawberries with vanilla ice cream, the sundae was really tall!

As this was ordered by my friend, I was not in favor - I definitely preferred something chocolatey. Nonetheless, it wasn't that sweet as it was paired up with fruits, and if i'm not a fan of this yet I managed to finish it, that's a good thing enough for you to grab it next year! But still, I'd put OK because I still prefer chocolate. Own's personal taste tongue

Ice cream wasn't too rich in comparison with a better brand. Only the prettiness.

The buffet is why everyone returns.

Other than the part where you can have unlimited sweet soft drinks and ice cream parfaits, sundae and ice cream scoops and do whatever you want to your drink, the food in reality, really is just en passe.

It is really worth your money supposedly for the place where it is located in the city and for the price and buffet, sure, it is a good deal!

ordering steamed ginger dory which comes with rice and miso for $7++, the meal was just dissapointing that the fish portion was small and it was dead and almost to cold because they've cooked probably a whole school of fish at one time.

Maybe other menu would be better such as the fried stuff, and bowl TIP to PLEASe don't order any ramen. Like hello, there are a ton of authentic ramen stalls our there, even the semi-authentic franchise ones would still be a good pick.

Because if you had refer to my "Gooey Favorite" post: http://sg.openrice.com/singapore/restaurant/commentdetail.htmcommentid=24214
that i've been going crazy over lor mee, but this was only the place to go should I book into my office. If not, an alternative is given to kind of explore somewhere else.

Lor mee in Chinatown is not the usual meal, but I headed onwards anyways to check it out and well, if you know the best, the rest won't give a cure. But heads out on the gooey gravy as it was warm and it had the same compact texture. Should have given more garlic and vinegar and it would have tasted all better lol

It was unique however to find pork chops on top as the meat choice!

Chicken on the go OK Jan 10, 2012
Categories : Taiwanese

When I'm looking for the sinful taiwan style street snack which I usually frequent to, it's not there. Rather, this was open and because of my craving to share, so here I go to order the standard fired chicken chop!

I asked for lots of chilli powder, and he did put it out. It was also cooked on spot seeing the empty low-peak hours after my order. Even with a lot of shaking of the spice, it is not spicy at all!

The spice and chicken is not as luscious as the other brand stalls but it's a good fix on the portion. Can't miss the place, and nothing in particular to return unless you're closing your craving!
