Looks representable, demo.... OK Mar 19, 2011

My friend notified me wrongly that this was the authentic japanese stall opened in the food court. From the looks and representation it was truly like a good Japanese stall in a food court to try, along with their original hiragana text of the menu.

I ordered the salmon fry set for $7.5. I thought the price was a bit ex, but it was Taka and I thought again, it was going to be really good so it didn't matter. The price is more or less the same as eating in Yoshinoya.

Apparently after I saw on how they prepare, it was ready-fried salmon fry fillet, which was just drying and cold on the rack. The beef yakiniku has obviously had to be cooked hot, then applied on top of the rice. I meant errr... put on top. Hahaha tongue

Then easily the lady just squirted mayonnaise on top of the cold salmon, then had miso soup and pickles. That was it! The rice wasn't like a lot too from the start. I was quite dissapointed. But again, maybe I chose the wrong one. Not too bad, just hope that the other menu is much better.

Chicken katsu is at a good price for $4 or under as I recall!

Overated much? OK Mar 19, 2011

So Rasapura masters is a place of good food curation around the island. Well, my friends and I wanted to try things and was missing market food, so char kway teow is nonetheless part of the list!

We ordered the normal portion, $5.50, where there are 3 sizes in total.

Well, I did remember that Thye Hong has other branches and it always was a long queue, but I donno, I guess mall stalls just don't have the same kick market stalls do!

I know its the only food court around and way overpriced since it is in MBS, so it's quite not worth it because it's the same stalls found in the city. You shall need to really spend when you're in MBS instead! lol

tried today: ban mian OK Mar 19, 2011

Hot spot cafe is conveniently located just across my school so this is definitely the hottest spot for all students to come and eat during lunch, not mentioning other offices nearby that comes and hoards the resto, careful of the really long Q when peak hours!

Their specialty is the yong tau foo and I usually ask them to try instead combining them in the soup, in tom yum flavor (warning: It IS SPICY. Super good till you cry)

But instead of something spicy, I tried something else, the ban mian today ($3.70). It comes in a real big bowl, could be overbloated by all the soup it contains.

Egg, vegetables, ikan bilis as topping with minced meat with the noodles is the portion.

Taste-wise, it was nothing over the top, it was in general an accepted taste. Compared to the real cheap price at the ban mian stall I previously tried in TB market, this is just OK. It's back to yong tau foo!

But since I was hungry so.... I finished it anyway! smile

Chocolate Custard rolls OK Mar 10, 2011
Categories : Japanese | Bakery

This is the first stall of Provence I was introduced to and how good it is when the famous custard and chocolate rolls is just freshly out of the oven.

Well truthfully, whether people are just totally engrossed by the advertisement that it's so so good, I find it rather normal - i dont' taste the chocolate at all. Sure it is great when its out of the oven, its still soft and warm, just nice in your mouth, but really, I don't taste any chocolate nor custard, as you can see the line of the filling is so thiiiiiiiiiiiin.

It's expensive , 60c a piece, for a ridiculous small bread. Bread has the biggest turnover, making it from such a small piece of dough, to puff up. So imagine this small rolls are like thumb size which only costs like probably 5c to make. tongue

But really, any custard roll lovers care to enlighten me, esp. after four leaves, breadtalk start copying the bread too.

Instead, I like provence's dry cheese bread, which i forgot the name. Now that's unique and super nice!

Cheese prata supper OK Mar 03, 2011
Categories : Indian | Coffeeshop | Curries | Halal

My friend is a little devil asking me for supper. And well, I gave in. Prata!? I give up.

I ordered the simple cheese prata, $2, comes with a piece of the prata and the accompanying curry sauce in the plate that looks like those old canteen tin plates. For my drink, masala tea $1.50 is definitely the drink to go whenever I'm going to an Indian restaurant, it has been my favorite ever since my cousin introduced it to me.

Compared with the egg prata my friend ordered though, cheese was a tad plain. The egg is more thick and rich and its better with the curry. The tea was well expected!
nice filling for supper!
