A twist in western coffee stores Smile May 07, 2011

Categories : Café | Brunch

I heard that the coffee was brilliant with the same price you pay for the bigger coffee joints like starbucks and bean, but since it was at night and my friends off from work were just looking out for dinner we settled it out here. Didnt try the coffee as I do want to sleep! Maybe next time smile

They say that the fish and chips ($17) was the most famous, but since my friend ordered that I changed to their pork ham sandwich with wedges ($14) which was definitely filling. Taste was however pretty bland, I added more pepper and salt all over for the wedges. Was good as it came with bits of salad to add some fresh leaves but it wasn't cold. They drizzled in italian or sour dressing on top. It was good except that it wasn't cold.

The sandwich had an interesting taste and each of their sandwiches uses different types of bread. This one had a salty salty all over with ham and melted cheese (but not enough cheese according to me!mad ) and with the sour zing taste it was just right! The portion was all just right and the environment was good!

Fish and chips came in as a small basket with about 7-8 pieces of fish finger sized and chips. Didn't try it myself but quite pricey for the size. Fish and Co has it bigger in size for the same price?

Service was friendly, however the staff couldn't really recommended anything and went by popular choice that fish and chips was the most ordered.

just the way i like saltiness Smile Mar 31, 2011

I love salty and all things around it. From salted fish to ikan bilis to soy sauce, it's the best combination as well. So they have this fried ikan bilis rice and I'm expecting some saltiness, which I totally did.

The friedrice was light, as in not too oily and the taste was actually a tad too salty for me, so it should be SUPER salty for most people tongue

However the crunch of the ikan bilis as well as the shrimps they add in certainly makes a difference. It'll be better if you sneak in some cashew nuts and sprinkle it over to give some certain sweetness mad But it's one of the best fried rices around the place i've discovered!

Sinful Supper Smile Mar 31, 2011

AAHHHH the hot chocolate that warms down your throat and feeling guilty after eating half of the walnut cheese cake from Mccafe. My friend wanted something sweet and not dinner after getting off from work so the nearest place to chill and talk talk talk with a cozier ambience is this branch.

I've been a Mccafe eater this past month I don't know why I frequent it much - definitely friend's lures of course.

Anyhow the staff in handling the hot drink was meticulous - took a stick and drew those lines. For the walnut cheese cake, we just had wanted something cheesy! It was just OK, it wasn' sooo good but well, we wanted to eat some cake anyway!

The overrated Cinammon melts Smile Mar 31, 2011

I mean, well it is a nice sweet dessert, which is totally too sweet for most I've heard, but for me, it was OK and tolerable. Or it's just me. Maybe but it was good. Hahaha!

Anyhow but in terms that my friend would tell the story of eating this melts and fly to heaven, I didn't feel the same. It was quite flat because once you fork it in the air all comes out and it becomes flat, and the taste is not that rich and since it's quite small in portion it doesn't give you big headache!

crunchy toasted sandwich Smile Mar 31, 2011

Although they have only two choices, let your choices be spoilt. They're both good in its crispy cunrhiness after its toasted, and since they're using grain bread it's more or less healthy, yo!

There's the tuna and the chicken with cheese. I do know most tuna sandwiches uses the tuna from the can spread so it's not that special. But again, the tip is to choose the correct bread texture so your bite is better : choose with the oats/grains on top of the bread, once its toasted ohmygoooooodness, it's soooooo crispy! Definitely better than the plain one there.
