Gem in the middle of nowhere Smile Dec 14, 2010

Stonegrill, back in my hometown, is a a pretty famous bistro restaurant level with elegant ambience and such. And finding them here, in the middle of the HDBs of Toa Payoh, and 'express' as well, I was surprise.

If you guys are a big fans of Astons, then this is the place you need to try next. Although the price is still more or less about the same when eating in restaurant ambiance, you eaters shouldn't be much picky and have a go. Queue's not as long as Astons and well, if you're around the neighborhood for a good quality steak nearby, here's the place to try! smile

Ordered the sirloin steak (<$15). Comes with sauce and scrambled eggs as the side. To eat this,
you have to wait till the meat is cooked, as the hot stone will cook the meat. Twist and turn the meat till it's cooked and scrape all the pepper salt around!
The meat was absolute tender after, it was juicy and thick, and with the sauce!

I still yet have to find the picture of the sauce and the french fries for $2! This is the best deal deal ever I've found in Singapore. A whole big bowl of fries for only $2!

Coupon Go-er #3 Smile Nov 30, 2010   (Related Review)

Dragging myself after dance class, I went out with my other pal to finish the coupon ( yes I did buy too much thinking that I'll go every time and to be able to try all the pizza pasta rice menu before the coupon dates ends).

This time, the Calzone pizza which I saw the last time I was here, when they served to someone else, looked big! It looked tantalizing enough and I was thinking that hey, the filling must be loads and it's looks cool.

But it turns out that, once they serve you, "let me help you cut the pizza" and they first inflate it, press all the way down to be flat, and then cut to slices like a normal skinny pizza. There goes the fat pizza which turns out to have no thick stuffing or anything like in the menu says! tongue

Taste, with the chopped garlic given, is tasty! Much better than grilled pizza! They have more cheese/mozarella, and the garlic is not strong, so you can smear it all over to top of the pizza. Another one to recommend! The best from all pizza choices actually, as the garlic snowing pizza is more too sweet.

A big hearty bowl Smile Nov 27, 2010

Love the place! Love the price! This stall reminds me of the time when I was in Shanghai, eating fried dumplings and la mien in a small store off the road just opposite the hotel, then my parents were like so shocked when we asked how much to pay. Although the price is not the same as in China (which was about like $.80 for that big bowl of noodle), the price in this stall should be a big surprise!

I ordered the normal soup ban mee for $2.50, which uses the thick-kind of noodle, and super chewy. The soup, was cooked with vegetable (kailan), egg, and should be some fish as the meat with a very flavorful stock! It was really good to the last sip - with the extra fried onion and ikan bilis to add the saltiness.

Oooh, this is the best place to have a hearty good hot bowl of noodles!

Going creeeeeeeeeamy good. Smile Nov 22, 2010

I was given a surprise one afternoon with my unit mate's mom, where she bought me some little sweet goodies, which turns out to be the number one favorite thing I love most: CREAM PUFFFFFFF. madmad

I went ecstatic mad, and immediately bite onto one's delectable golden yellow cream puff, to find the semi-sweet vanilla custard cream tastes exactly like what I love to eat a lot back in my country, buying them in wet markets. This had exaclty he same taste, and the puff outside was just a bit crispy, but soft enough to bite into. One of the best custard cream puffs eaten!
For a box of 6, it's priced competitively almost similar like back home, $3.50 if correct when I checked to the shop (knew the shop from the plastic. Or else I wouldn't know where this little goodie came from). smile

They're also known to have the durian cream puff but I'm not a durian fan so, anyone up for that challenge go ahead!

Azuki Fever Smile Nov 22, 2010

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Desserts and Cakes

For a birthday treat, I brought my friend here who has never tried at this place before!

As most everyone knows, MOF's desserts are the most best things in Singapore, especially avid fans of Japanese desserts. They are heaven at a good price with quality!

For an afternoon dessert snack, their most famous red bean/fried potato/soft serve ice cream/fried yam which I quite forgot the name for ($6.80), (this menu is the first page on the desserts area) and the red bean special, where a single scoop of matcha ice cream and a generous spread of chopped almonds for the same price or ($7.80), seen in the photo above. The red bean was an awesome dollop with the almonds. Superrrrrr heaven! mad I'm a red bean/azuki fan, so this both was a personal favorite where they have a great serving of azuki.

Their desserts are the best thing that all should come back for!

Recommended Dish(es):  all of the desserts!
