This new chain introduced by my cousin, Bibigo, is a franchise from Seoul itself and has preivously opened first in the States before finally arriving in our Raffles City basement!

Their signature dish was definitely the customize bibimbap (hot stone mixed rice) from the choice of rice, either barley white to black pearl rice, then the meat should it be chicken, beef or vegetarian.

It was a totally new way of eating and a presentation that you wouldn't find anywhere at any Korean store! The fresh vegetable is placed at an interesting packaging and the spice is then mixed to our own, and there was a dash of almonds on top of the rice!

Took the black pearl rice to give such experimental dish with gochujjang paste - the usual red paste. There are many other different types of sauce you can choose as well, that comes in a packet instead of a sauce dish.

The taste was different - it was more raw and clean since it was definitely less or even no grease than the usual - no half boiled egg as well. It has a clean finish to your tongue and you definitely have space to eat for dessert! The portion is slightly smaller than most place, it just sits nicely in your tum with the kimchi side dish as well and anchovy top.

I mean yes I prefer the greasy one... tongue cos it has more taste... but as for the whole presentation this place is totally pretty and super health conscious that when you eat more you don't feel the guilt at all! lol

Service tends to be quite slow as when you come at a lunch hour its always, always fully packed.

TOPS!

Eating at Bobby's Favorite Place Smile Nov 30, 2010

Categories : Middle Eastern/Mediterranean | Restaurant | Seafood | Steaks and Grills

Well, if this is the renown TV chef Bobby Chinn's favorite place to eat, then isn't it already certified? But let's just go it through!mad

My personal favorites would be :

The hummus: taste exactly like what I recall back when I was traveling in Turkey. It was really good and filling wit with the flat bread they served as appetizer, which could be eaten with the tomato-diced salad aka. Salad shirazi which gave a fresh taste to the creamy sour flavor of the hummus. T O P!

The kebab satays, Lamb:: It was delectable, juicy in the first bite! The lamb, named kubideh, was quite hard; spheres in shape, and it should be look like hard rocks but when you sink your teeth in the meat is much softer in the inside. Pair it up with the available sauces, there's a red powder that you can add as a spice - no it's not chilli! It's this mixed spice that gives a hint of thick sour and salty all together.

The dessert, ice cream!: The ice cream is a top top hit! This was an interesting ice cream that i've ever tasted, as the ice cream flavor was made from pistachio/other type of nut in very faint color of mint, topped with saffron, nuts and red pomegranate seeds which makes it looks pretty. It gives a round taste to clear up the heavy - smelly for some - meat flavor smell. ULTRA RECOMMENDED. Since this is the first time that I've tried this! Looks very authentic too.

Now I know why Bobby loves to dine in this place!

birthday bash 'buffet' Smile Nov 30, 2010

Ah, I remember this day that it was my first time to be invited or even hear about what Marche is all about. All my friend said, which was his birthday and he was the one inviting that 'THIS IS NOT A BUFFET, IT'S STILL ALA-CARTE OK SO BE VERY NICE TO THE CARD THEY'RE GOING TO GIVE YOU' tongue

Then I understood how this goes. So it's still ala-carte, like dimsum, where you order things from each stall then they'll tap/charge the card in, and we pay when we go out. Then Shokudo followed the same style after.

I quite forgot what I tried, from the rosti, to the pasta which we all taste-tested from a friends' plate, but the one that lingers to most of our minds should be the mascarpone crepe with ice cream. for $7.90++

THIS DESSERT EVERYONE NEEDS TO TRY, SERIOUSLY. We were all spazzed by its wonderful delectable sweet taste! I was surprise as a chocolate fan myself, we were all mesmerized by the taste. this dish was recommended by the birthday boy himself where he highly thinks of this treat. This can be ordered at the crepe counter, and its topped with vanilla ice cream. It's really good - a heaven of the hot soft crepe that melts into your mouth with the cream and with the tingling cold ice cream. A heaven!

Hot Pan off the Oven! Smile Nov 28, 2010

Categories : Japanese | Bakery

This should be heralded as the best bakery in town. Different from Bread Talk's artificial smell, prices that are more friendly from Cedele, and most importantly, the usual night promotions they give that no one else does!

I always will stop by here most of the time after Novena where after 7pm, they'll have their promo sales going - all breads must go, go, go!
Here's my favorite thus far:

BROWNIE WALNUT ($1, usual $1.50) is the best brownie I've ever tasted, the one back home which is the champion and renown throughout the whole tourist world looses. Thick in its brownie dough, a slight bitterness gets to the tip of your tongue with the balance of walnuts spread on top to give the 'tea' like taste. With the price as well, who wouldn't complain? But seriously, this is such a gem. No other bakery does the same for the amazing price - they don't go cheap on the chocolate!

However, this time I tried their real pans/breads, which is the sausage and ham and cheese. Frankly, their sizes are quite small for $1 when night promo, their breads are so soft, fluffy and very delectable in taste! Different from most main bakery chains where yes, it should look big, but it's empty and airy for the dough. This one is small but compact. Makes you want to bite bite more! For taste, it should be an upgraded self from most chain bakeries, so I'll continue on all my tryings at mama patisserie!

More than just MAD for more Smile Sep 20, 2010
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Italian | Pasta | Steaks and Grills

I first encountered the place, briefly saw first in Suntec, where it was such a secretive place because it's at the end, and it's surrounded by retail stores instead of restaurants, but my cousin told me that it was visible instead when passing from the bus at the Suntec Boulevard (seen from outside).

Anyhow, I went here for my birthday celebration; I usually choose places that looks great but won't spend too much as I have a budget! But as I'm a trained eater to scour great places, and this is new, my family never knew such restaurant exists. It's my first time to eat there as well, but I had my faith in them as I'm a Korean freak, and by knowing that it was a Korean branch I immediately set foot to the manager and planned all out.

There were hiccups when planning, I went to the place about a month before D-day and the manager didn't get back to me after two weeks of a request to create a menu with my budget. It was annoying to wait for the reply and I went there again and finally he got back to me.

D-day itself, the place was pretty full, and they're prepared the long table for me. The environment was nice and it looks like a very expensive bistro place, however the price range is just amazingly unbelievable for a place like this. The private room is awesome as well, but it only can cater 8 seats sad

Journey of eating garlic, start!

Starters were choice of Garlic Bread Tower and Caesar Salad.
Let me tell you how I was surprised when they served the starters!

Garlic Tower was not the usual garlic bread we get to see in most restaurants: sliced and topped with melted cheese/garlic/butter/etc. It was placed vertically, with all the garlic topping on top. You may wonder how you'll be able to eat it/how to slice it and share, but the waitress would suddenly smash the top and chuck everything inside - it's like destroying the bread! But there it was, served mixed with the garlic all over inside.

Note: I'm a garlic lover, I can eat garlic cloves like that when steamed (like in bakuteh or samgyeopsal) so nothing's too heavy for me here. And it's healthy! So it tastes just nice for me and i know it's healthy.

The next was Caesar salad and boy, did I believe it now when the manager told me "starters are shared with 2" but it was enough for more than 4! It was huge in its platter (I'm not sure if they put two portions together or not because of the special request) but heck, it was big!
It had fresh green leaf vegetables, topped with large-sized croutons, delicious creamy sauce and cheese. It was really light and super delicious - the leaves were crunchy and it was very green; totally fresh-looking. I was impressed by it and managed to clean it all up.mad

The main courses varied from pasta, risotto and pizza. As they came, it all looked soooo enticing - it looks neat, clean and so delicious. I didn't manage to try all sorts of the main course, I couldn't finish mine - Chicken Mushroom Spicy Risotto. The chicken was delectable and juicy, the rice was thick and never that I have thought that it was really be spicy!
I thought that because Singaporean's tongue was not meant to be spicy, but hell, this one made me drink my free-flow ice drink (part of the deal) and as a new record, didn't manage to clean up my meal! I was so full. Get this if you want to really fill yourself!

A scoop of ice cream with biscuit waffle on top - it was a great finish to the whole meal. Make sure you get the cookies and cream - the vanilla is just normal. tongue

I had a great time in a great place - my family was impressed with the restaurant and was ready to come back. They were again, impressed with my findings of good restaurants, being the Park Royal hotel buffet, Spice, for my birthday previously (a review given already!)lol

Really, for a great price with the ambiance that looks great enough to be an Italian restaurant in hotels, this is just amazing. The garlic was strong but not overpowering the taste, and it's pretty spacious too. I'm aiming to get the private room next time - it's not that hard, afterall! smile

PS: I'm visiting them pretty often, with their special promotion! With their $10 voucher, you get the main meal and a drink, with the usual price of $23.90! shockedThey have a page in Gmarket Singapore where they sell the vouchers there for that price. It's amazing so YEAH ANOTHER GREAT PRICE OFFER! mad

Do get mad and go gaga over Mad for Garlic! They just recently re-opened from a renovation process from the 15th.
