Dried out Seafood Smile Jan 16, 2012
Categories : Singaporean | Hawker Centre | Brunch

First time to eat this kind of dish, it was a really hot place with high humidity in this monsoon weather. Ordering dry yong tau foo, the uncle then went onwards to boil the seafood out before mixing it back on the bowl with some looking red and brown sauce, spring onions and a dash of sesame.

With choice of kway tiao for noodles, it was only $2.40!

It smelled like those old chinese medicine which makes me cringe mad but apparently tasted alright afterall! And they also gave the soup on a separate bowl, where you can alternatively pour it all and do it like a normal yong tau foo.

Of course, with the accompanying soy sauce my cheap and flavorful peanut-like paste sauce will certainly bring me back to order this! Say goodbye to hot soup yong tau foo. Makes me perspire like a wet towel.

The Duck Meal Smile Jan 16, 2012

In Kwaychap style, the uncle gave a meal for a portion which I scarfed it down within an instant for $5, including a bowl of rice and a mix of platter delicacies.

Rice was not as succulent and plump, it was more of those long grain thai rice that just easily slings down the throa and i finished the rice in no time!mad The soup broth was deliciously good, as a standout point boiled in with those chinese herbs to make your throat clear..

As for the platter, the sauce complemented with the boiled peanuts well, and the meat was out cold, but soft and delicate once I bite in. This is the result of the slow boiling process, and the sweetness was naturally soaked into the meat, but I added soy sauce because I liked it salty. chopstick I was so hungry at this point of time, the portion wasn't enough and big as so I remember~!

Gingerly Chicken Rice Smile Jan 16, 2012

I must say again that Bugis area is truly a gem in the middle of the city! there are quite good stalls around and this is one of them - although of course, not as fragrant and popular with long queues of other hainan restos.

my friend favorited this place to go for the generous portion and chicken pieces. True to form, in the mere fan-only place it was full with people to order rice dishes from the menu.

The rice was steamed piping hot but like most rice it has only a tinge of flavor from the chicken broth. However, the chicken meat made it all up as it was one of the softest chicken steamed breast I know! There was also bits of ginger that made it different than the rest and those sour bites pickles which is good to mix with the rice!smile

Although the place is quiet, and you feel like owning the entire place, Hanis is a cafe which also joins Starbucks to open 24 hours in this branch.

Portion to fit a king in the evening (where you should eat like a pauper instead) the set meal consisted of the dessert, which first I thought was warm bread to accompany the appetizer cream soup and the main meal and a choice of drink. And garlic bread too!

The turkey set meal for $13.90 included the vegetables and potato as your carbo fix! The meat, was just like any other chicken/white meat as if you're curious what's the difference. The meat was not as hot and juicy and soft, but it was paired with a good complement of fruit jam (strawberry or blueberry) to smear all over with eating your poultry.chopstickchopstick

Eating this hearty meal the day before war (read: exam) gave a sense of fulfillment and releasing the relaxing endorphines when I ate the dessert which I thought was the warm bread for the soup - my favorite, CREAM PUFF! IT WAS HUGEEEE FILLED WITH sous cream, just the way I like it. It made my night at least smile

Authentic thai fried rice Smile Jan 13, 2012

Categories : Thai | Coffeeshop

Pretty legit and authentic for a mere hawker centre stall, a new favorite of mine after the Thai Lion Kitchen at TB market! tongue Although a feat to come about around here.

The brunch hour called a heavy portion for rice, which the Thai fried rice looked enticing enough to give it a shot which the price should be around $5-6! With shreds of carrot and cucumer as the fine setting on the plate, the thai fried rice was cooked on spot, promising that it would be served warm and ready without it being sticky after prolong hours. It also had quite a small queue out.

Top of the rice when served was the touffed up floss which I would believe its pork. (but you probably can request beef I suppose) and it gave a sweeter mix, although the floss portion should have more as the rice (salty, just as i like it) was like a mountain!mad
