bubbling up the Q Smile Jan 11, 2012

Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

When it first open, my bubble tea craze friend tried it out without hesitation. A slurp to try for me, and I knew something was fairly different than other teas I've tried.

Since I wasn't a fan of bubble tea until some craving that I wanted something sweet and chewy, the bubble tea was the answer for that.

Asking for 25% sweet level, the regular pearl milk tea, which the pearls were fairly at a smaller size than other places had the same chewy texture like I first tried. The sweetness for me was already sweet, so imagine 50% above.

The tea then had the apparent flavor to have a trickle of bitterness, which says that they use the original extract of tea. Good mix!

New menu in a crunch base! Smile Jan 11, 2012

Categories : Café

After for so long and still studying, my classmates and I headed to our cafe because we didn't have any idea wherelese to save money and eat.

For the goodness sake of it (we study in LASALLE so we know that eating in 15 Minutes daily won't help anything).

Trying to find something new which is not always in the menu, I ordered their new menu, a mexican dish I can't recall the exact name. Everyone was looking at my plate thereafter, asking "what is that that looks cool man! I should've ordered that than these measly looking pasta", said one of my pals.

Stuffed in a fried wonton skin, the tacos thing was filled with shreds of cabbage/lettuce and drizzled over the chicken meat, cheese with the tomato sauce and cubes ala mexican. It could slide and sit around the plate. The portion is considered small but it is presented in such an interesting manner that whets your appetite!mad

There's no rice here, so its practically your minimal carbo intake, and the taste, without extra tabasco, is a tad spicy. The meat is cooked well done so if you're the western person, this is a good try!

The magic gem again hides within the Albert Court market, my SOS place to eat anytime with really good food at an incredible price they have kept from years!

Compared to other fishball stalls, this is considered my favorite after trying almost at every stall to find a permanent favorite! The uncle is a one-man show who cooks and the auntie taking orders. It is very busy on peak hours having always the Q at the stall.

Because of the price and the huge portion they give which suits cookeeatmonster's portion, you know you'll get the best from here. They get a B in the Clean grades.

I always order the fishball dry noodles which they separate the fishball soup into a smaller bowl. There's nothing particularly special of the noodle sauce but it gives a brown color and a hint of sweetness. As for the fishball, I know there's better but this is OK for a cure as it is very chewy!

bowlTIP! Time yourself to arrive 20 minutes before noon: No Q for you, say hello to me as the first few buyers. Or, if you're lucky, they're still open around the afternoon around 4-5pm to cure your sudden hunger.

Veggie galore Smile Jan 11, 2012

Categories : Food Court

The best thing I like when looking at those mixed rice stalls is the fresh green vegetables that I do not miss the chance to eat my veggies on the particular day where they serve the greenest looking veggies ( shine with the oily sauce of course, long gone is the healthiness ) tongue) at the rice stalls.

This one was cooked just right, not making it too salty either for the sauce at a just right balance and the tofu was delicately cooked with mushroom clear gravy.

The rice was also on a generous portion. smile

Groupon Offer of FIsh palate! Smile Jan 11, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : American | Seafood | Halal | Kids-Friendly

As said, the Groupon offer gives off 50% off the original price from $30 for getting a combo meal of soup and main course meal of lemon fresh herbs steamed fish with rice.

We were given soft drinks as complimentary drinks as part of it too.

The dish came at a very long time and to my surprise as it was my first time eating at Manhattan, rumor has it that their portion is fairly huge. To my dismay, it was in a special smaller bowl of wok, which I felt 'cheated' because of the discount given. I'm not so sure if this is the original portion size so Openricers, give a say if you order this steamed fish menu and it is this size.tongue

The pumpkin soup tasted bland. I added a load of salt and black pepper.

Taste however can't be cheated as the fish is very much softly cookedchopstick, dissolving in your mouth in an instant with the fresh appetizing herb sauce spritz with lemon!! Vegetables were boiled of carrots and brocolli in a small sized portion. The rice also, was in small portion.

Other than the service and portion, I have to give chopstickchopstickchopstick for the taste. It's goooood!
