kinara is a place so magical it's almost a restaurant that no one knows about. i had such a fantastic experience there — the service crew was excellent and proud of what they offer. they're so exquisite and detailed, even the pillars are vintage pieces from india and cost more than $10k to ship the special piece over.my camera skills ain't good enough to capture the beautiful outlet.i love this sort of lantern lights — very enchanting. they also had ipads for us to key in our dishes, and we could order from the ipad as well. they had photos and description for each food.we had a complimentary starter, and i didn't know what is called but it was crispy and really good.we had various sauces served to us as well, such as the minty basil sauce and some special in-house sauce. the tandoori bharwan aloo (grilled stuffed potatoes) was really yummy!! i totally loved the texture and flavours coming together.the chicken wasn't too spicy. it was thoroughly marinated wiht lots of spices but i felt that the portion was too tiny to share among two people. it's as if its a single portion only.the naan was really huge!!! loved the herb sprinkles. could be shared among three people.this was overly sweet — i felt like i was eating concentrated syrup. wouldn't recommend you trying this dish at all as it will send shivers down to your spine.

looking at the menu and its hefty prices, i knew this was a restaurant for tourists who don't know the market prices. the manager also treated us really badly when they knew that we weren't hotel guests. we waited outside for really long and NO ONE tended to us for more than 5 minutes, despite the restaurant being almost empty with only a few hotel guests?we decided to walk in ourselves and even find our own seats, before someone finally came (which was a manager in black suit). ordered eggs benedict — my personal favourite. however, i had never tasted one that was so thick in hollandaise sauce that i felt like yellow phlegm was coming out of my throat and thick dark yellow mucus coming out from my nose (yes, this explains how heaty it was)! looks good, but portion was tiny for $16 (not even comparable to prive's cafe)!the dessert, berry's pancakes, looked really promising. i was really excited to try this... initially with the sauce, it tasted really yummy, but then the second and third bites became really dry and sour. think they just look great for photos and instagram, but nope, won't make the trip back there again.

Went to fish & co about 8.30pm. Two people were celebrating their birthdays in different tables, so the crew had to go there and sing happy birthday song loudly. not sure if it was meant to truly celebrate their birthday or embarrass them because the birthday boy/girl looks pretty embarrassed! as a result, service was a tad too slow because of these frills that they offer.anyway i'm very pleased with the cover of their menu. looks SO GOOD. wonder which agency did their menu... the designer really deserves a pat in his/her back. *applause*i was hooked to the menu cover page.Tried the mexican drumlets... spicy just won't cut it! thankfully, fish & co offers water so i drank cups after cups of it. Pizza didn't come fresh - it was cold, kinda hard to chew. tomato bits and cheese almost tasteless.. just plain weird. it was akin to buying it from a bakery store!when the baked salmon came, i almost cried. the breaded salmon was salty like hell, the carrots were so hard, bland and weird tasting. the other vegetables were worst...it was really awful. i think even my dad, who isn't a cook at all, can cook it better intuitively. hopefully fish & co chefs would up their game... go for some cooking courses or something.

Went to the 'restaurant' in non-peak hours, at about 3-5pm. no one was in the restaurant but the service crew was somehow very busy cleaning... quite difficult to get their attention. argh.menu was a huge board, difficult to flip. i felt like i was holding a 100-year old book becuase it was so heavy.they offered sugar in many forms.. shows the weightage of sweetness in the 'cafe'. i love sugar cubes!you have to pour out the water and steep the tea bag on your own. they should -1% service charge right? anyway their service was really bad. not sure what they're busy with.. don't even look around!we received our mango tango. supposed to have mango, MACADAMIA NUTS, chocolate chips with rainbow sprinkles topped with whipped cream. we didn't had the macadamia nuts.. apparently, they forgot to put the topping.we told them and she just walked away and came back with a cup of macadamia nuts. my journey to find the nuts resort to dissecting the pancakes:there you go: we poured the nuts in ourselves. it tasted great would try other food items but maybe not at the same store in future.

botak jones has sold his company, and how does the food taste now? famous for its meat, i've decided to take a route less travelled by .. having fish.menu is really clean and sleek now. i had a memorable time with botak jone's elaborate menu previously.. where it felt like the menu was talking to me or something. now it's just a cold, laminated list of food items for me to select from.. not so interactive.didn't like the food offered this time because it's just a list. previously they had so much customization (that was years ago huh)i liked that the menu was well-designed though. anyway, went for a large fish n chips!the batter was really crispy and it tasted really shiok initially.however, the more i ate, the more weird the fish tastes. its not premium bay fish, i guess. very fishy smell. the fries is too darn hot like there was fire getting bigger and bigger on my tongue and it burns all the way down to the throat. the meal wasn't balanced at all — how disappointing.i loved how you don't have to pay for service charge but they serve the food to you (despite giving you a plate where it vibrates and rings loudly). pretty cool for a coffee shop concept these days.
