Timbre. Smile Jun 28, 2011

I really enjoy weekends and last Friday saw me over at Timbre @ Substation. Based on ambience and setting, this isn't my most preferred outlet but since my friends chose this place, I followed.

I had my dinner here followed by drinks. Instead of Timbre's favorite pizzas, I ordered fish and chips since I wanted a new taste. Though being breaded fish and chips, it still turned out amazingly good! I suppose the highlight of the dish was also the Louisiana French fries, I loved the seasoning sprinkled on them.

Yummy Chiffon. Smile Jun 28, 2011

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Bakery

There was a queue during lunch time and I thought I'd check it out.

It sells Chiffon cakes and I saw that the stall labeled itself as a healthier option.

I scanned through the assorted flavors and thought I'd settle for the Orange.

My verdict is that it was really fluffy and soft, melted in my mouth with the first bite! I'll definitely get another one when I do pass by this place next time.

Just like Siam Kitchen, BaliThai also serves the keropok crackers with chili dip as starter before the food arrives.

I had the sweet and sour chicken with white rice that also came with a sunny side-up.

The dish was good. Delicious because the serving was generous and the sweet and sour sauce made everything better. The white rice grains were crunchy too. Pity the sunny side-up seemed to be a little over fried, the egg yolk wasn't 'runny' anymore.

fried kway teow. Smile Jun 28, 2011

This stall is located on the first floor of Amoy Street Food Centre. In fact, first stall at the corner nearest to the POSB atm machine. A pretty prominent spot, if you ask me.

It only serves fried kway teow, the only difference is that you can request for cockles or not, which I did because I actually like them.

The kway teow was delicious but rather oily at the same time. I heard that this stall has been around for decades, maybe hence the heritage recipe.

char siew wanton noodles. Smile Jun 27, 2011

I had the char siew wanton noodles. Surprisingly, it was pretty good, except that it didn't come with any boiled wanton, every piece was fried.

The char siew meat was really tasty though. The noodles were springy and just nice, the chili made it all better and I like the fact that the veggies were served green and not yellow. Generous portion.

Worth trying.
