Lunch @ Zhou's Kitchen Smile Sep 17, 2011

I had Zhou's Kitchen lunch buffet that day. The restaurant was very quiet on a weekday afternoon. Only a few tables were occupied. There was a menu of items to order as part of the buffet and some self-service items too. The menu consisted of main dishes like meat, fish, seafood and vegetables while the self-service items consisted of some dim sum items and dessert.

I really loved their fried bringals with pork floss and ordered two portions of it! chopstick The bringals were fried very well, it did not feel very oily at all. Some seasoning was sprinkled at the top, together with the pork floss, making it so much tastier! YUM.smile

Dessert was part of their self service section. They had both hot and cold dessert. I loved the gui ling gao the most. It was very refreshing and had several portions of it since one portion is quite small. The cream puffs were in the freezer so they were a little too hard and frozen, not too nice. It was a vey filling yet satisfying lunch. bowl

Casual Dining + Dessert Buffet Smile Jun 20, 2011

Spicy and cheesy goodness followed by lots of ice cream! It was a really really great meal. I enjoyed every part of the long lunch I had at Just Acia. It started off with a bowl of spicy ramen with CHEESE. The cheese was the best part! It melted in the soup and made the ramen so much yummier! There were two side dishes, the peas and kimchi. I loved both of them. I was given a cup to help myself with the array of drinks (both hot and cold) and ice cream. I tried their blackcurrant slurpee which was refreshing, followed by a self created root beer float. They had ice creams of other flavours like yam too, besides the vanila softies, however, I was too full to have them. Nevertheless, it was a really satisfying meal! chopstick

The Gigantic Apple Strudel  Smile Jun 17, 2011

When the apple strudel was brought out of the box, I was wow-ed by its size. It was humongous! It was at least 45cm long and 10cm thick! As I took a bite, I was again wow-ed by the taste of it. It was really delicious! There were five layers and two layers were occupied with apple pieces while the other three were pastry. The pastry was crisp while the apple pieces were sweet but not overly sweet. I really enjoyed the dessert and would definitely get apple strudels from this stall again! smile

Yummy Catered Food  Smile Jun 17, 2011

We catered food from Qiji for Fathers' Day Dinner. There is free delivery if you order for at least 10 people which is really very reasonable. We ordered DIY popiah and mee siam. Everything was included- the food and the utensils too. All we had to do was make hot the sauce and turnip so that the food was warmer! So convenient. Most importantly, the food was great. There was a variety of ingredients for popiah- prawns, eggs, bean sprouts, turnip, lettuce. The popiah skin was thick so we did not have much trouble making a decent looking popiah as the ingredients did not spill out. (: The mee siam sauce was very yummy. It was spicy and a little more sour than others, however, that made it more tasty. The caterer is halal so it is suitable for Muslims too! bowl

Birthday Dinner Celebration  Smile Jun 05, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Restaurant | Dim Sum | Seafood | Zi Char

My grandfather's birthday dinner celebration was held at this restaurant that day. We had pre-ordered the dishes and our dinner menu for the night was printed on a piece of paper. There were altogether seven dishes which included- cold dish, salmon roe with sharksfin soup, mustard with duck slices, fried prawns with pumpkin batter, ee mee and yam paste for dessert. It was a private and joyous affair as we sat in the two VIP rooms of the restaurant.

Th sharks fin soup with salmon roe looked a little weird with the orangey colour at first but when I tasted it, it was really awesome. There were visible pieces of sharks fin and crab meat which were fresh. The mustard with duck slices was a new dish that I had not tried before but it was not too bad. I enjoyed the small duck pieces more than the mustard vegetable because the mustard was a little bitter. The wok fried prawns were huge. You have to sink the entire prawn into your mouth together with the shell to enjoy the flavour and goodness of it. The ee mee had a variety of ingredients in it including mushrooms and bean sprouts. I enjoyed the dessert the most- my all time favourite yam paste. It was very thick and sweet and it was cooked together with good stuff- gingko nuts. bowl

I enjoyed the sumptous dinner and most importantly the company of my family. smile
