Charcoal Korean BBQ Smile Oct 20, 2013

Categories : Korean | Restaurant | BBQ

We made reservations for two on a Friday evening (thinking that the place was be crowded) but the place was only half-filled when we arrived. Service was prompt and the staff (some were Koreans) were very friendly and helpful. They change the grill pan frequently, and like most Korean BBQ restaurants, there was a suction thing above the grill to absorb the smoke (even though we still smelt of BBQ afterwards).

One of most authentic Korean BBQ I have had. I can't wait to head back again for their lunch promotion set. :3

The various side dishes were all yummy, and I never knew that there are so many kinds of side dishes for Korean cuisine.

Pork belly and spicy chicken Korean BBQ with free flow grilled egg at the side. The spicy chicken was too spicy for me though. WE LOVE THE EGG.

We couldn't finish the Korean Seafood pancake, so the staff kindly packed them for us. Together with the sauce, and it tasted pretty good the next day too. lol

Dessert for dinner :D OK Oct 20, 2013

Finally got a chance to check out the famous Tiong Bahru Bakery (where friends' photos flood my Instagram feed). To be honest, I did find it a lil overrated as I had the Berry Crumble and it was too sour for my liking. >.< The hot chocolate was okay, but nothing spectacular. Maybe I should try out the other pastries next time, or visit the Tiong Bahru branch instead.

Original Glazed OK Oct 20, 2013

I had the original glazed Krispy Kreme donut on a Friday afternoon with my friend. The donut was delightfully soft and fluffy. Honestly I'm a fan of almost all kinds of pastries and sweets so this donut was awesome in my opinion. However my friend found the sugar-coating to be too sweet. I think it's still tolerable. I would not eat two donuts at one go though. TOO MUCH SWEETNESS!

Carbonara pasta that was delightfully cheesy and creamy (but I couldn't finish it, as with all cream-based pastas)

Basil pasta (vegetarian), but the basil flavour is quite overpowering. Though I only had a mouthful. Maybe it's just me cause I'm not a fan of veggies.

Crabmeat pasta that was goooood. lol

Shepherd's Pie from a nearby stall. (Y)

Despite the place being rather out of the way, I’m definitely going back soon to have some awesome desserts (always a sweet tooth).

Vintage Hightea Buffet Smile Oct 19, 2013

The food was pretty gooooood (lol) and I especially loved the sweets and the flavourful truffles. Even though I adore buffets due to the variety of food (love having a lil bit of everything), my (less than desirable) appetite restricted me from eating my worth. The free-flow tea was pretty good (a choice between ginger tea and some berry-flavoured tea) and the refill service was quick.

Oh and they offered 10% discount to POSB/DBS Credit/Debit cardholders, though the price is still a little on the high side. Payment took a while but since we weren’t rushing anywhere, it was just nice extra pockets of time to chill. The ambience and interior decor of the restaurant appeals to me and I wouldn’t mind going back again for some serenity when I have more budget.
