Lemon Pie Crunch Smile Mar 31, 2014

Categories : Desserts and Cakes

Pass by this CHewy Junior outlet here at Tampines and was attracted by the colourful range of chewy puffs available at their counter and decided to buy one to try.

The counter ladies are very friendly and helpful when serving me.  THe stall is small and clean, with simple nice bright layout as well.  I have bought the Lemon Pie Crust to try, which cost only $1.50 each.

The puff, as you can see from the name itself, is 'chewy' and most in texture.  Lots of fresh smooth fresh cream are filled in the puff which is very flavourful and delicious. The lemon cream is not too sour and also is very smooth and sweet.  With the added cornflakes topped on it added that extra crunchy to this little snack.

Bak Kut Teh Feast Smile Mar 31, 2014

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Restaurant | Bak Kut Teh

THis famous bak kut teh restaurant is recommended by my cousin and was really impressed by his recommendation.  The restaurant may look small, but still consider quite comfortable and not really that squeezy.

The auntie staff here is warm in service and recommended their signature dishes to us politely and very patient too. Have ordered their you tiao, bak kut teh soup and also a bowl of vegetable with fried onion.

Bak Kut teh is flavourful and the soup base is thick and cloudy in texture.  The pork ribs are very tender, soft and juicy.  The you tiao to dip inside the soup base really taste great and yummy!  Vegetable is fresh and crunchy and with the generous amount of friend onion topped on it make it really appetizing.  Total paid $18 for this meal which is reasonable.

Owl Cafe OK Mar 31, 2014

Categories : Singaporean | Fusion | Café

After a fun shopping here at The Star Vista, I have settled down in this newly opened Owl cafe for a plate of their signature dish: Assam Mango Chicken with Nasi Kuning.

The restaurant is cosy and comfortable, and quite cooling as well.  The waitress here are friendly too, with greetings and smiles when you enter the restaurant.  The nasi kuning, which referring to the yellow rice, is fragrant and not soggy.

Love those generous portion of deep fried chicken cutlets which are very crispy and not too oily.  the sauce that goes along with the chicken cutlet is actually a small bowl of assam chilli gravy that is thick and fragrant, spicy as well. For the price of $10.50, is acceptable but would be better to be less than $8.00 per plate.

This buffet restaurant is a must have buffet if you happen to pass by this shopping mall.  It has one of the widest buffet spread that sure will be able to impress you, which have already impressed me.

The service staffs are mostly friendly and fast in clearing the tables.  Restaurant dining environment is definitely nice and cosy, with very trendy designs that will never go outdated.

Even though my friends have all gone crazy with the unlimited snow crabs on the buffet spread, I personally prefer the abalone soup and the assorted cakes more.  Abalone soup as you can see, is really generous as one who big piece of it can be found inside the soup. Is chewy and fresh, and the soup base is really sweet as well.

As for the cakes, I very much like the butter swiss rolls and the dark chocolate mini cakes.  Butter flavour is strong and the cake texture is very soft and not too sweet.  Chocolate is flavourful and with the slight bitterness in it as well.  Yummy!

Kkongdon Barbeque Smile Mar 31, 2014

Categories : Korean | Korean BBQ

Have a gathering with my ex-colleagues in this Korean barbequed restaurant in Ang Mo Kio.  Before enter into the restaurant, I was already attracted by the cute little brick house decoration outside here.

When we entered, the restaurant staffs are very pleasant and friendly.  We have ordered some pork and pork belly for barberque and also a big bowl of ginseng chicken to share.  Ginseng chicken was very flavourful and the chicken meat is very tender and juicy.   The conditiments are fresh, especially the broad greenish cabbage.

As for the pork belly, they are sliced very thinly and really fresh and chewy.  When after barberqued, you can really taste the wonderful flavour of the pork, especially the crispy pork skin. A pleasant meal as the restaurant is also quite cooling and spacious.  Paid in total $55 for our bill, value for money.
