Weekend Gathering Dinner  Smile Nov 10, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean | Café

Spent a day at Garden by The Bay and feeling super hungry, we decided to settle for dinner at Verandah.

The ambiance here is ideal for group gathering...with long benches. And seems like the place here is exceptionally packed on a weekend.
We waited quite a while for them to clear the table before we sat down.

Menu with many choices...so difficult to choose as there's Singapore selection as well.

Iced Tea to quench our thirst.

$19.80 -Daily Roasted Rosemary Chicken ~ chicken is not well marinated and the rosemary taste is quite like. It tasted more like normal roast chciekn and it is abit dry, luckily there was enough sauce served with it.

$11.60 - Homemade Waffle with Ice-cream ~ Warm and crispy on the outside, moist, fluffy and mild vanilla taste inside. Great!
But it's strange of the waiter to serve us our dessert before our main course. Shouldn't it be after the meal as having dessert before main course will curb one's appetite? shocked***Faint*** mad

$14.60 - Bacon Wok Hei Aglio~ the restaurant ran out of linguine hence this aglio was served with penne instead. Not too bad!

Fries with Brown Sauce~ Crispy n Salty! Yummy!

$13.60 - Prawn Paste Wings~ The overall taste is too mild, maybe it's adjusted to suit tourists taste. The side dish achar is on a spicier side.

$14.60 - Chicken Alfredo~ Rich and creamy sauce blend in well with the penne. As asparagus was added to the dish, it sort lighted the overall taste making it easier for 1 to finish the whole plate. Seems like all their pasta portion are quite generous!

$9.50 - Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodles~ Super yummy! 1 of the best restaurant serve hokkien mee. The yellow noodle is not soggy while the rice vermicelli has soaked in abit of the seasoning. the noodle is slightly wet with freshness of the meat and seafood. Best of all, there is crispy lard bits!smile

$11.60 - Panda Box ~ kids bento for my friend's daughter!

Comprises of cheesy sausages and mashed potato, fruits and pudding

Had a good dining experience despite having some hiccups on the procedure of food being serve. most important is on the service, food, environment and the great companions. Prices are quite reasonable for the location, especially near a tourist attraction. Thumb's up! smile

Cafe with a KICK Smile Nov 08, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Kids-Friendly

Decided to snack and drink after our Broadway Beng show at the Drama Centre and since that Kungfu Paradise is still opened, we decided to check it out.

Alright, whatever should have still available and here comes the menu...

Truffle Fries...a bit oily and hard

Honeydew tea~ Great refreshing drink!

Calamari~ Super crispy with huge serving..worth the money ya!

It's indeed a cool place to hangout with friends and the crowd here are mostly students. Prices are not too ex and has huge variety. Seems like the place faces shortage of manpower as there is only 1 service staff assisting all the diners in the cafe, thus giving a 'pek chek' look and does not really bother when you called for his service.

It's been ages since I last wrote reviews but did not change the fact of going island wide to eat n eat.

1 of my fren arranged to for a dinner session in Marina Square on a weekend and as I was not verty familiar with the area, decided to opt for restaurant names which i'm familiar with.

I've come across Hifumi, the one at Plaza Singapura but never had a chance to try their food till now. And it seems not bad, thus decided to give it a try. To be frank, what attract me most is the salad bar + the reasonable prices.

Menu looks neat and has lots of variety.

Quite a spread!

Free flow...

Pork Cutlet with Omelet~ Gravy is not too salty, egg omelet is fluffy and not over cooked! smile
Huge serving especially the ingredients...small serving of rice is great so diners can target more on the salad bar.

My choice of sides from the salad bar!

Salmon is not that fresh and has a smell. Think the restaurant gotto improve on the fresh of seafood ingredients.

The super yummy n delicious crispy chicken bites with rice! My fav dish of the night.

Round 2 of sides from salad bar...

Overall dining experience is great...with friendly service staff, bright lights ambience. Will try the other outlet soon! smile

Lemon Chicken Rice OK Jun 10, 2013
Categories : Coffeeshop | Chicken Rice

Seems like the lemon chicken rice here is popular with the students from the school nearby as I would always see lots of students eating lemon chicken rice after school. Out of curiosity, I decided to give it a try on a weekend.

The sauce~less lemon chicken isn't the crispy type. More of the chewy type and it has a very mild sweet lemon taste on the skin. Whereas the meat is well seasoned and tasty. Not too bad overall... Do give it a try wanna taste something new.

Boneless Chicken Rice Smile Jun 10, 2013

Categories : Hainanese | Coffeeshop | Chicken Rice | Roasted Meat

Tucked away in a small corner of Block 809, next to a roundabout. There it is a central eating house where there are only 3 food stalls, a few tables and chairs for customers to purchase take away meals or for a quick meal.

This is one of my favourite places to get delicious chicken rice. The price is reasonable and I would always order a braised egg to go with the rice.

Rice - Love the soft and moist texture which has a nice fragrance. Best of all, not oily at all.

Chicken - Tender, juicy, sweet and not overcooked. Chicken skin - gives me a WOW factor...it has a 'toink toink' texture. I'm the kind of person who will freak out when eat chicken skin. However, the stall owner uses a standard size chicken which aren't too fat hence the layer of skin isn't the greasy disgusting type.

Soup - Free flow where u can self serve and scoop on your own

Service - Friendly and good.

Can have it for brunch as early as 10.30am. As for dinner, have to come before 7pm else there will be nothing left.
