Casual lunch OK Oct 27, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Porridge/Congee | Dim Sum

Lazy to go far for lunch, so just popped by Wan Chai Hong Kong Tea Room for a quick fix. Ordered the shrimp wanton noodle. S$6 per bowl.

Today the noodle is quite disappointing. Cooked too soft and "kan sui" smell is too strong. However the shrimp wanton is ok though. Prawns medium size and fresh.

Just learnt that they just launch their VIP card. You can purchase the card and they will give you back some vouchers to be utilised plus discount in future visit.

Kueh Lapis OK Oct 27, 2011

Categories : Peranakan / Nonya | Bakery | Desserts and Cakes

Bengawan Solo is the cake, pastries and cookies specialist. Their signature range includes this kueh lapis that i've just bought!

This quarter piece of cake cost S$12.50. It's consider quite expensive i suppose because it's due to the amount of effort needed to make this kueh lapis. It's made up of layer by layer..It tasted quite good. Not too sweet and in fact it tasted a bit salty to me. Smell is fragrant and texture very soft.

Lunch at Kim Gary OK Oct 19, 2011
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong

Kim Gary is a Hong Kong style restaurant. It's more like a Hong Kong fast food chain stall to me actually.

Surprisingly their pork chop lunch set was quite good. Pork chop was well marinated and taste good. Crispy on the outside yet not too oily! Also the rice portion given is just right and goes along well with the pork chop instead of fries.

The lunch set is selling at S$8.90 also comes with borsh soup and a hot drink of your choice. Hence i have ordered the silky smooth "yuan yan" teh.

All in all i would say it's a good lunch and value for money!

Dinner at Delifrance Smile Oct 05, 2011

Pleasant dinner at delifrance yesterday! Have not been to delifrance for long and i suppose they have downsize the chain store too.

However i must say that their food quality is still tip top at least at this Bistro outlet at Bishan. smile

They are having special promotion for lunch and dinner whereby if you dine in between 12-2pm and 6-8pm, you will get free soup of the day + 1 choice of drink + daily dessert when you order their main course/ pasta / rice. Well worth for money given that both their food and ambience is quite good.

Mushroom soup with garlic bread is great! Soup base not watery at all. Generous serving of mushroom too. Garlic bread was very crispy and fresh. Thumbs up!

Carbonara- The spaghetti was springy and the creamy sauce was just nice too! Top with chicken ham, it's just delicious...

This boneless grilled chicken leg was very well marinated and as the waiter suggested to me, mushroom sauce really goes well with it. smile The only setback to me was they didn't inform me beforehand they don't serve it with french fries but baked potatoes! But then i guess it's a healthier choice ...

This is the dessert of the day called L' Mont. A distinctive citrus flavoured lemon cake top with meringue. At the bottom layer, there's a crispy biscuit type as base too! nicely done!

As for service, it's tip top too! The waiter will come and clear our plates and serve the soup, drinks, mains and dessert all within perfect timing without us having to waive for them to come! thumbs up! smile

Recommended Dish(es):  grilled chicken leg, cabonara, mushroom soup, lemon cake

Good and cheap western dinner! Smile Oct 05, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Food Court

Went to Harbourfront City Centre Banquet Food Court for dinner instead. Chose to try out the western food.

At first i was a bit skeptical on the food quality and taste but to my surprise it's actually quite good given that it's halal too!

Chilli diced a.k.a. "Kung bao" chicken rice was between mild to hot spicy. Just nice for those who likes hot. Combined with dried chilli, it made the diced chicken more fragrant! Saw them cooking on hot plate from a transparent glass panel...cool! It was served in a generous portion with a mere S$5 only. And if you have the banquet card, you can even get a 10% discount!

Hubby ordered deep fried chicken cutlet with french fries and mushroom sauce. You can actually choose to have the sides as rice or french fries and choose your desired choice of sauce too! Chicken was deep fried to perfection in my opinion. Surprisingly although it's deep fried yet it's not too oily! Very crispy on the skin surface. Inside meat was not too hard too! Just nice.

Good order system too as they have the digital queue number system! Thumbs up!
