Tim Sum at East Coast Smile Jun 28, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Restaurant | Seafood | Kids-Friendly

Good place for Tim Sum after a morning walk on weekends at East Coast. I love to come here to Yum Cha in the mornings with family. The Tim Sum is fresh and if you go early, there's an early bird discount and not as crowded as normal hours.

My fav dish at this restaurant would be the Seafood Soup in Melon!

The Paramount Restaurant Smile Jun 28, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Hotel

The Paramount Restaurant is quite popular amongst many for the Ala Carte Buffet they offer. After trying the buffet many times, I got a bit sick of the spread, even though it's good value for money - sashimi, mini buddha jump over the wall, steamed live prawns etc.

These days, I prefer to order the set meals or ala carte dishes.. and amongst these, the good dishes are Deep Fried Prawns with Pumpkin Sauce, Braised Bee Hoon with Crab Meat and also the Thai Style Braised Shark’s Fin with Crab Meat served with Green Chilli

Lemongrass @ Downtown East Smile Jun 27, 2011

If you have a craving for Tom Yam soup and want to have a quiet lunch, this is a good place to go in the east on weekdays.

They have 20% discounts on weekdays if you pay in cash! I love the chips to go with the chilli and their food standard has stayed constant over the years too.

Fried Cod Fish Smile Jun 25, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Coffeeshop | Seafood

The coffeeshop didn't look appealing and a place I think I would patronise often. I was brought there by frens who live nearby and one evening, they wanted to do a quick dinner near their house. I left the ordering to them and boy, I was surprised at what was to follow.

The roast chicken is so good and I was told you have to call and order as it runs out very quickly. It was juicy, the meat was tender and it was not oily. The roast chicken skin was really crispy too! The fried cod fish was simply AWESOME!!!!! Since that day, these 2 dishes have become a staple and the coffeeshop a regular dinner place with the family..

Recommended Dish(es):  Fried Cod Fish, Roast Chicken (Need to call and check if they have it on day of dinner), Assam Fish, 3 kinds of eggs with Spinach

Drunken Prawns.. Smile Jun 25, 2011
Categories : Teochew | Coffeeshop | Seafood

My frens brought me to Ban Leong about 2 years ago .. 2 weeks after we had dinner at Jumbo Seafood. They told me there's a place where the drunken prawns are really nice and it's much cheaper than the popular seafood restaurants!

Indeed, the prawns are big and fresh and the taste is pretty much similar to what Jumbo has! The La La, Fried Mee Suah are all the regular dishes we have everytime we are there. I didn't think the crab is good though..

Recommended Dish(es):  Drunken Prawns, La La, Fried Mee Suah, Assam Fish
