Congee @ it's best Smile Jun 28, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

It's funny how some people only orders certain dishes in certain restaurants and the same goes for me when I dine at Crystal Jade Branches.

I love coming here mainly for their congees and normally order their century egg or sliced fish ones but I stumbled upon their sliced beef congee by chance one day when I wanted to try out something different.. What a great discovery - the congee was smooth as usual and the sliced beef was tender.. Great Comfort Food.

DIfferent Taste @ Downtown East OK Jun 27, 2011

Categories : Seafood

I don't fancy anything fishy as much as chocolates but the curry fishhead here is a MUST if you decide to dine here. Other popular dishes to try will be crabmeat with broccoli and pork ribs.

It's a good place to eat Zhi Cha in an aircon environment without having to pay a premium for the extra cool wind you enjoy!

Fried Cod Fish Smile Jun 25, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Coffeeshop | Seafood

The coffeeshop didn't look appealing and a place I think I would patronise often. I was brought there by frens who live nearby and one evening, they wanted to do a quick dinner near their house. I left the ordering to them and boy, I was surprised at what was to follow.

The roast chicken is so good and I was told you have to call and order as it runs out very quickly. It was juicy, the meat was tender and it was not oily. The roast chicken skin was really crispy too! The fried cod fish was simply AWESOME!!!!! Since that day, these 2 dishes have become a staple and the coffeeshop a regular dinner place with the family..

Recommended Dish(es):  Fried Cod Fish, Roast Chicken (Need to call and check if they have it on day of dinner), Assam Fish, 3 kinds of eggs with Spinach

Mom's Choco Fudge Cake Smile Jun 25, 2011

Categories : Bakery | Desserts and Cakes

I had to buy a birthday cake over lunch and remembered I read an article in the newspaper about this cake shop at bedok and decided to check it out since it's 10mins away from the office. I bought the Crunchie Chocolate Fudge cake for a start and it was very well received although the cake was difficult to dissect cos of the crunchy base. That was when the shop first started..

Over the last few years, Mom's Choco Fudge Cake became my fav food to bring to parties I have to attend. The dark chocolate fudge was rich and creamy yet the cake is not too heavy even after a meal. 100/100 people love this cake whenever and wherever I brought it.

Black Pepper Char Siew Smile Jun 25, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Teochew | Hawker Centre

The best Char Siew I have had so far is still from this stall. They used to reside in Maxwell Road Hawker Center and shifted to Pandan Loop last year. I managed to get a last meal at their maxwell stall 3 days before they shifted and found out they were shifting to Pandan Loop

A sucker for anything spicy or pepperish, this char siew is superb - the sauce, the pepper, the tendernes of the meat is just GREAT.
