my friends and i decided to try the black pepper crabs after hearing raving reviews about it. the crabs were really good, though i felt it was a little too sweet for my liking. we had other dishes such as venison, kailan and fried you tiao. All were really decent, especially the venison. It was very tender and savory. However, the dining experience was a disaster. We arrived at the place at around 7.40pm and we were told they would close at 8.30pm. Well, we really tried our best to finish the food very quickly but we thought it would only be right of them to allow us to finish the food at least. Instead, they started closing all the shutters at around 8.20pm and switched off the lights inside the kopitiam. All the staff sat around us and stared at us waiting for us to be done. It was the most pressurising dinner i've ever had in my life. While we were still at the table, they would walk towards us to clear whatever dishes they could first. By 8.30pm sharp, they told us we had to leave! Seriously, i know the closing time was at 8.30pm but shouldn't they have the basic courtesy to allow the customers to finish whatever they have ordered before chasing them away? we paid for the dishes anyways!

My friends and I ordered the potato skins. Not too bad...portion was relatively big but seriously there was nothing to rave about. I had a crispy chicken salad. The chicken was really crispy on the outside and the portion was once again, really huge for one person. Generally, i feel the food was ok, nothing much to rave about but the setting and atmosphere definitely was suitable for large gathering. The service was good and the portions were huge to share amongst friends.

This is a very authentic Italian restaurant, whether its the food or the decor, it gives you a very homely feeling. My partner and I ordered a Vongole to share. The portion was huge, definitely sufficient for 4 instead of 2. It was very good as the taste of wine was not over-whelming. The clams were very fresh too. I had a crab meat pasta. Love the fact that they were not stingy with their portions. Lots of crab meat but as usual, the portion was too big for me alone. Thumbs up! My partner ordered the carbonara. It was very good too. They have a good selection of pizzas as well. I will definitely go back another time to try that out.

This was my first visit and thank goodness, my friend was there much earlier (slightly before 12noon) to queue up for seats. We ordered spicy egg plants and the signature dish, soya chicken. The egg plants were served with spicy prawn paste and the prawn paste was really savory. Their chicken was really tender on the inside and the skin was very crispy. Thumbs up for this!

I had the craving for korean bbq and decided to try out at Jang Shou. I heard that it was opened by a native korean and thus had rather high expectations on this place.

The restaurant is usually packed on weekends. It is important to make reservations before you go. They serve a wide variety of meat, beef, pork, lamb and even bacon. The quality of the meat was not too bad, very tender for most of them. However, maybe its because of the kind of marination they use, after a while, all the meat taste the same to me. You can't really differentiate the taste, except the texture of the meat.

I particularly liked their pineapples. They were really sweet. And if you are game for it, you can try bbq-ing the pineapples too. They will taste real sweet.

The restaurant gets really warm after awhile as the ventilation is not very good. I will recommend you to choose a table closer to the fan. At least you won't be perspiring while eating.
