There is always a queue at this stall. In fact, many stalls at this hawker centre have long queues at anytime of the day. This may not be the best prawn mee I have tried before. The soup was only ok as I personally prefer it to be saltier. I ordered the one with prawns and pork ribs. The servings were ok for small ($5) but still a little disappointed with the soup.

There were lots of hype about this ban mian and so I decided to give it a try on a sunday afternoon. You gotta be early because they sell out by 2pm sharp. When I arrived at 1.30pm, they already ran out of Mee Huen Kway, only had Ban Mian and Mee Kia left.

They have many selections. You can choose to have it with pork, prawns and/or even clams.

The soup was quite good, a little sweeter than the usual ban mian soup you get elsewhere. The key highlight is their home made chilli. Really uber spicy. If you are into spicy food, I suggest you try the dry ban mian instead. The chili will get your stomach burning. tongue

Expect to queue at least 15-20 min for your noodles to be served.

quite a surprise Smile Apr 04, 2012

This is a very small outlet and it was very crowded during weeknights. I supposed they are operated by Chinese natives and they served a wide variety of small dishes, La Mian as well as Dian Xin.

We ordered Zha Jiang La Mian, Xiao Long Bao, fried long beans(四季豆), Spicy Chicken (辣子鸡). The La Mian was very tasty but the portion was just enough for one person. So if you intend to share, do order double portions instead. I like the spicy chicken and long beans. They are stir-fried with garlic and that makes the dishes very tasty but not over-whelming. The chicken wasn't too spicy too. The Xiao Long Baos were surprisingly delicious and they were filled with soup on the inside. A must try if you are visiting the stall.

Most importantly, the prices are very reasonable with no GST and service charge. Perhaps this explains why it was pretty crowded on a weeknight.

Categories : Middle Eastern/Mediterranean | Steaks and Grills

My friend recommended this place for their meat and we decided to give it a try. We had the mixed grill for 2 which consisted of beef skirts, short ribs, lamb rack, pork, chicken and sausages. The portion was definitely good for 3. The meat were all really tender and flavouful. The sides were grilled potatoes and eggplants. Its good to take some of these to mix with the great amount of meat.

For sides, we ordered garlic bread, sweet potatoes and some argentine pastries(empanadas). The garlic bread was actually bread sticks and interestingly, the bread was toasted with ikan bilis too which made the bread really tasty. The Empanadas were really tasty as well. The pastries were really crispy on the outside, they tasted like our local curry puffs just that they have a variety of fillings to choose from.

Separately, we also ordered the cod fish. The skin was really crispy and the fish was tender and fresh. Something lighter as compared to all the meat we had.

They also have a great selection of argentine wines to choose from. If you are in the mood, it's great to have some red wine with the meat. One disappointing thing was that their service was really slow. Their staff took a while to replenish ice water and attend to a simple request for mustard sauce.

braised duck Smile Apr 02, 2012

Categories : Coffeeshop

This braised duck stall is located at the same kopitiam as Sin Huat Seafood Restaurant. They are opened for lunch but closed on alternate saturdays. The yam rice was great, not too sticky. The braised duck was sliced thinly and served with thick braised sauce. The sauce was on the sweeter side. They offer other side dishes as well, such as braised egg, tau gua, fish cake etc. The soup they served was very flavourful. Good for those who like salty stuff.
