On a late Friday night after dinner, Charlie Brown Cafe is pretty packed. However, it is definitely not a place for just kids.

Had the Snoopy's Chocolate, one of their signature crepes. As a chocolate lover, you will surely love this! Being one myself, I love how the smooth and soft texture of the crepe. Also, the chocolate was melted, tasting like nutella, which blends in well with the crepe and not forgetting, the scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
Lucy's Strawberry

Lucy's Strawberry

Next, I tried the Lucy's Strawberry pancakes, which I thought was a disappointment. The pancakes were so thin and tasted pretty bland, apart from having it with the strawberry puree and whipped cream. I didn't enjoy their version of pancakes, which I expected to be thick and fluffy.

Other than the desserts, Charlie Brown Cafe serves a range of sides and main dishes as well. Might consider dining here again, but definitely not for their pancakes.

At Hansik Korean Restaurant

At Hansik Korean Restaurant

If you are craving for korean food in the Hougang area, you can check this restaurant located in Heartland Mall.
Korean Tea

Korean Tea

This is the Korean cold tea being served to each table, it tastes pretty plain like the rest of the teas of other cuisines.
White Grape Drink

White Grape Drink

This can of white grape juice is really nice. This is my first time trying out this drink, and I love it. When being poured out from the can, there are really bits of real white grapes fruit in the drink. It just makes the whole drink much tastier, wish it comes in a bigger can though.
Side dishes

Side dishes

As usual, the Korean side dishes are served before the main dishes arrived. I find the side dishes are pretty not bad for a restaurant located in the neighbourhood area.
Korean Seafood Pancake

Korean Seafood Pancake

The Korean Seafood pancake is just alright, the pancake was not as chewy though there is a generous serving of seafood bits such as squid as well as prawns.
Beef Bimbimbap

Beef Bimbimbap

This beef bimbimbap is a slight disappoint, this dish was not served very hot that night. It might be a better choice to choose the stone bowl one instead. However, the beef slices are rather tender with the eggs and crunchy sliced carrots.

This Korean restaurant may not be the best choice, but I guess the food served there is slightly above average. It is still worth a try for diners around the area!

Porn's exterior with pink chairs.

The restaurant is quite crowded and there is always a queue outside during dinner time, so it might not be an ideal place for celebrations for big groups of people unless you make a reservation in advance.
Stir Fried Minced Pork with Basil Leaves

Stir Fried Minced Pork with Basil Leaves

This is the first dish called 'Kapow Moo' which is actually Stir Fried Minced Pork with Basil Leaves ($8.50). It may look spicy, however it still taste quite good for someone who doesn't take chilli. If you do order this, you might consider ordering a plate of Pineapple Fried Rice to match with this dish.
Thai Green Curry

Thai Green Curry

A Thai cuisine meal isn't complete with the all-favourite, Thai Green Curry. So I tried the 'Gang Keaw Wan' ($10.90) which tastes not bad. As a fan of thick texture of curry, I feel the curry gravy might be slightly watery. Those who are like such texture, will really enjoy it with Pineapple Fried Rice as well.
Pineapple Fried Rice

Pineapple Fried Rice

A famous Thai dish, the Pineapple Fried Rice which is also known as 'Khao Pad Sapparod' ($10.90) tastes yummy with the slices of fresh pineapples and sweet raisins. However, I find that the prawns taste quite raw, I wish it was cooked longer as they looked really fresh. This dish is still worth a try to those who are a fan of Pineapple Fried Rice.

Last dish, the Noodles Wrapped in Egg which is known as 'Pad Thai Hor Kai' ($9.90) is served with raw beansprouts and lime. I love having Seafood Pad Thai, so decided to give this a try since it sounds quite unique to have it wrapped in an egg. However, this dish is quite disappointing as the noodles is dry, wish it was cooked with more gravy. And for the price paid, having just plain eggs and noddles might not be affordable as compared to other Thai restaurants which serve Pad Thai with Seafood.
Thai Iced Tea

Thai Iced Tea

To go along with my food, I ordered a glass of 'Cha Yen' too. The cold drink tastes pretty decent.

Overall, dining at Porn's was not too bad. Despite the huge crowd in this place, I find the food is quite overrated, probably most customers are curious to dine here because it is opened by local TV host, Porsak. Hope the dishes can be served even warmer for better enjoyment. I would love to try the desserts at my next visit at Porn's!

A bowl of ramen for you? Smile Aug 12, 2012

Sapporo Miso Ramen

Sapporo Miso Ramen

Have always been a fan of Cha Shu when it comes to ramen choices, surprisingly, this bowl of miso-based ramen tasted pretty good, not too saltish! Though the serving of Cha Shu slices were not generous, I'm glad that it was soft in texture and quite tasty too. Another plus point is that the flavoured egg is cooked according to my liking, especially the best part - yolk lol
Mentaimayo Gyoza

Mentaimayo Gyoza

One unique thing about Daikokuya is that this restaurant serves some special choices of Gyoza. Hence, I have decided to forgo the original ones and ordered the Mentaimayo Gyoza (6 pcs) which are salted cod roe pan-fried dumplings with salted cod roe & mayonnaise. Indeed, it was really good, didn't know that Gyoza would go well with cod roe, crispy and crunchy at the same time!

Overall, had a quick dinner there on a weekend, good ramen experience. Would love to visit again for another Gyoza speciality!

Traditional BBQ Chicken Wings

Traditional BBQ Chicken Wings

This is my all time favourite at Old Kim Guan, the traditional BBQ chicken wings! It definitely tastes as crispy as it looked, the chicken meat is pretty tender and soft too. Do remember to head down fast before dinner time as sometimes, the chicken wings can be sold out rather fast!
Dry-Stirred Noodles

Dry-Stirred Noodles

Had the dry-stirred noodles for my main, though its appearance may look like a typical bak chor mee (minced pork noodles) at the hawker centre, but it tastes delicious! I love the chewy noodles that goes really well with the very flavoured minced meat, and not forgetting the sauce which makes everything good!
Herbal Chicken with Rice

Herbal Chicken with Rice

The herbal chicken was great too, can taste the many hours of brewing herbal taste of the soup. Don't worry, it isn't as herbal and bitter as it sounds. The chicken itself is so smooth and I love drinking the herbal gravy on its own too. Best with white rice, or you can even try the popular glutinous rice too!

All in all, came to know about OKG after working at an office nearby. Almost all the dishes are good, got a pretty heart-warming feeling to have them, they taste like those home-cooked food which you will miss when you are away from Sg. Definitely worth a try, or even many tries!
