The Muffinry!

The Muffinry!

As located at Telok Ayer Street, The Muffinry is rather easy to be spotted from its bright orange exterior along the row of shop-houses. As named, though it is quite a newly opened cafe, The Muffinry serves really amazing muffins of many flavours, both sweet and savory ones.
Double Chocolate and Apple Blueberry Crumble

Double Chocolate and Apple Blueberry Crumble

Muffins are definitely a must-try when you are at this cafe. The Double Chocolate (on the left) tastes just nice, not too sweet. The best part of it is that the chocolate is really smooth and goes so well with the moist and fluffy texture of the muffin. Best to have it when its warm with the melting chocolate. Yum, chocolate lovers would surely love this muffin!

I always have apple crumble for its crumble. For the Apple Blueberry Crumble (on the right), the crumble was rather crispy and there were a generous amount of blueberry bit as well. Love this muffin too!
Muffins with Cappuccino

Muffins with Cappuccino

Not forgetting, the coffee served was really awesome. Somehow, it is rather quite hard to find a good cup of coffee with coffee art details in Singapore. The cappuccino was not too bitter and surprisingly sugar is not added for myself. Both were served in very pretty and colourful cups. Seeing the coffee arts so beautifully done, it just makes me happier to drink it along with my muffins too.

The Muffinry is definitely I would love to visit again and again and again, for their muffins and coffee. Heard from the friendly owners that there may be sandwiches and soups. Hopefully there would be more food items added to the menu. Muffins all day long!

Hob Nob isn't hard to locate at all, once you reached Far East Shopping Centre, it can be easily accessed from the attractive bright signage!
Creamy Pumpkin Soup

Creamy Pumpkin Soup

For anyone who loves pumpkin, this Creamy Pumpkin Soup is real thick and yummy. Served with a slice of garlic bread, a good starter to keep your taste buds waiting for the mains.
Cream of Shitake Mushroom Soup

Cream of Shitake Mushroom Soup

This bowl of Cream of Shitake Mushroom Soup has very generous amount of mushrooms, served with a slice of garlic bread as well. It isn't too rich and creamy, so it will be a good choice for those who likes such soup texture.
Fish and Chips

Fish and Chips

A common dish, this crispy breaded fish fillet is above average. Served with french fries and tar tar, a safe dish yet simple and good.
Pork Cutlet in Cordon Bleu

Pork Cutlet in Cordon Bleu

This pork cutlet is stuffed with cheese and ham, served with french fries. The cheese is not too strong, which complements the ham and pork. The special part is the thick brown gravy with mushrooms, goes really well with the cutlet.
Creamy Baked Dory Fish

Creamy Baked Dory Fish

As recommended by my friend, she told me it is a MUST try dish at Hob Nob. Indeed, I really enjoyed this main dish, the fresh dory fish is served with garlic herb sauce, having sides like salad and potato wedges. I just love how the herb sauce is not so strong, and it just tastes really good with the smooth-textured baked fish. For all fish lovers, do try this dish if you wish to have something different rather than the normal Fish and Chips.
Spaghetti Bacon Aglio Olio

Spaghetti Bacon Aglio Olio

For those who wish to have a lighter main dish, the aglio olio will be a good choice. This dish is served with a blend of chili and garlic, using healthy olive oil. Normally, aglio olio is with seafood, but this is cooked with bacon and it is not too salty as well.
Hob Nob Classic Dark Choc Oreo Cake

Hob Nob Classic Dark Choc Oreo Cake

When it comes to desserts, would recommend this Dark Choc Oreo Cake. It is one of the most popular desserts as mentioned by the server. What makes it special is that, unlike other oreo cakes, this cake is cheese-based but chocolate-based so its rich and tastes good with the crust at top and bottom. Yummy!
Golden Apple Pie A La Mode

Golden Apple Pie A La Mode

Last but not least, non-chocolate lovers should try this apple pie. It is served warm, with a scoop of fresh vanilla topped on it. The pie has a generous amount of apple fillings with strawberry sauce, and it is not too sweet too.

Overall, Hop Nob maybe be slightly out of the way, but it is definitely a nice place worth to visit for a meal with good and cosy ambience. Thumbs up!

A lunch date at Vanilla Cafe. Smile Sep 01, 2011

On my second visit back to Vanilla Cafe & Bar, had a quick yet delicious lunch there.
Pork Belly Don

Pork Belly Don

Firstly, the Pork Belly Don served with really tasty and tender pork slices with a reasonable amount of sticky Japanese rice. Love how the egg is done, the runny egg yolk just blend in with everything so nicely.

Smoked Salmon Linguine

Smoked Salmon Linguine

Craved for some pasta that day, so I ordered the Smoked Salmon Linguine for myself. I totally love how the pasta is served, the sauce isn't too creamy at all. I did not have a hard time trying to finish the whole dish. The smoked salmon was rather fresh with it was not too peppery! Yum.

I really enjoy dining at Vanilla Cafe, next visit would definitely want to try the Dirt Cake!

Tofu with Golden Mushroom

Tofu with Golden Mushroom

I always feel that tofu and golden mushroom really go well together, indeed, the texture of tofu was so soft and it tasted really good with the sauce.
Double-boiled Soup with Watercress and Pork Ribs

Double-boiled Soup with Watercress and Pork Ribs

The double-boiled soups are like one of Paradise Inn's signature dishes. I ordered the one with watercress and pork ribs, this is my favourite soup! You can totally taste that there is a lot of effort put into making this soup, as well as the tender pieces of pork ribs.
Fried prawns with salted egg

Fried prawns with salted egg

These fried prawns are superb! When I took the first bite of the prawns, I can feel the salted egg paste all oozing out and it just taste too good. This is definitely a must-order dish for all prawn lovers!
Coffee Pork Ribs

Coffee Pork Ribs

If you are looking for something different, do try the Coffee Pork Ribs instead of the normal sweet and sour ones. I am pretty surprised that these taste not bad, but it might be a little too sweet for others. The coffee sauce is just nice and sticky, the smell of coffee is not too overwhelming as well. Definitely worth giving it a try!
Fried Cod Fish

Fried Cod Fish

This Fried Cod Fish is rather normal, but it may be quite pricey for a medium serving of it. With the gravy poured all over, the fish is very crispy on the outside and the flesh is really soft on the inside.
Prawn Paste Fried Chicken Wings

Prawn Paste Fried Chicken Wings

This is my first time trying this Prawn Paste Fried Chicken Wings, it is really yummy! The dish has an equal serving of both the drumlets as well as the wings. The prawn taste is not too salty, so overall its a good dish for the young children and the old. Everyone seems to enjoy this all-time favourite dish well known in many Zi Char stores.
Lychee Mojito

Lychee Mojito

Last not but least, ordered the Iced Lychee Mojito drink which I am very happy with. The drink tastes really refreshing and the lychee is sweet and good.

For those who prefers hot drink, I strongly recommend the hot teas. There are many choices of teas ranging from fruits, herbs and flowers. Served in a nice tea pot and a very interesting teacup which will not allow you to get scalded from the hot tea.

Shopfront of Vanilla Cafe & Bar

Shopfront of Vanilla Cafe & Bar

Heard about this cafe, so I went to all the way to Boon Tat Street to check this cafe out. Vanilla Bar & Café has a pretty simple concept, which really gives a really refreshing and cool feeling to have brunch there. Most of the customers are the working people at the CBD (Central Business District) who go there for a quick lunch, or else, people like me who would go just to try out their food and feel the cafe ambience.
Vanilla Latte

Vanilla Latte

Hazelnut Latte

Hazelnut Latte

I ordered the Vanilla Latte while my friend had the Hazelnut Latte. We were both pretty disappointed with our lattes as they were not even served hot at all. But overall, the taste of the lattes is not that bad, just wish it could be warmer to have a better perk up with the great breakfast dishes.
Vanilla Old English Breakfast

Vanilla Old English Breakfast

This Vanilla Old English Breakfast is one of the must-try main dishes if you are there for breakfast or brunch. The wholesome breakfast consists of the wild rocket vegetables topped with sauce, cherry tomatoes, sunny side-up, hash browns, sausages and bacon. It may seem like a normal breakfast meal, but I would say that I love the sausages and though the bacon is not crispy, it is definitely not as salty and as compared to other places.
Vanilla Club

Vanilla Club

The Vanilla Club is surprisingly delicious, the wholesome sandwich is filled generously with vegetables, bacon as well as chicken meat.

I would definitely come back to this cafe to try out desserts, especially the Vanilla Dirt Cake!
