Back for more suckao Smile Jan 29, 2012

Went to 春到河畔 (River Hong Bao) to squeeze with the rest of those in Singapore. Finished without 30 mins and it was so crowded we decided to leave the place as soon as we got in. Walked down to Esplanade and saw that Max Brenner was quite empty. Decided to have a drink in there. At the same time, I also wanted to introduce the drink 'suckao' to my partner. Needless to say, we ordered the same thing.

The presentation this time round is slightly different. It comes with a wooden tray that wasn't present during my previous few trips there. The drink used to come with the milk inside the burner but this time, it came in the container and we get to pour it into the burner ourselves. My partner didn't like it and he said that he don't find anything special about the chocolate drink. But I find the presentation really interesting!

Gui Lin Gao Smile Jan 29, 2012

Categories : Singaporean Chinese

It was an early morning and right after breakfast, we decided to go for some healthy food. Drove pass this shop with a huge golden pot near the entrance and absolutely no one in there (we were probably too early), and decided to walk in.

We ordered the normal gui ling gao. The menu had many different flavors but nothing beats the original taste. Service was pretty fast. Consuming gui ling gao is suppose to be good for the skin and detox (that's what I heard) so it's not surprising that people are able to swallow such a bitter jelly. Aside from the nutritional values, gui lin gao taste good with honey. I like it fresh from the fridge.

Night snacking again Smile Jan 29, 2012

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong

As my partner isn't someone who likes to squeeze with crowds and doesn't like to celebrate festivals, we decided to go somewhere quiet to have a drink. I ordered teh-o and my partner ordered coffee.

For night snacks, I had the thick toast with butter and condense milk while my partner has the kaya and butter toast. Mine was extremely thick and as usual, I ask for additional condense milk. The butter was also too thick for my taste. I should have just gone for thick toast with milk that I ordered the previous time. My partner's snack was not really interesting. I would have preferred the ones from Yakun. Nonetheless, it was good to get us through the night and kept us awake. We were still there at 1.30am.

Catching up with an old friend Smile Jan 29, 2012

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant

Finally got the chance to catch up with an old friend. Decided to choose TCC as that is the only place that wasn't too crowded.

I ordered the Tiramisu. Not the best I have tasted but it was good enough for me. This dessert wasn't too sweet and the cream that was added in the cup was yummy. I quite like the presentation also.

My friend ordered the high-tea set just because she wanted to have scones and we were told that they don't sell scones separately. She has to order the afternoon high-tea set in order for her to have the scones. The set comes with tiny little pieces of cute food produce. I find the presentation extremely fascinating especially the green tea macaroon. We have no idea what the rest of the items are but they tasted great.

It is my tradition to order lychee jazz whenever I dine in TCC. This time is no exception. I like how I get the stir the syrup that is sunk at the bottom of the glass. I cleaned up the entire glass of sryrup drink.

Still one of the best thus far Smile Jan 29, 2012

Categories : Hainanese | Chicken Rice

This is still one of the best I have tasted so far. There are other more famous brands but none can beat this one. And of course, the speed it serves the food is amazingly fast! The shop is tiny and they don't seems to have the intention of expanding it.

Ordered their salted vegetable soup this time round. The duck taste in the soup is a little too heavy for my taste. I wasn't able to finish it alone though. Would be good to share with another person.

I ordered the roast chicken again. The meat is still juicy and the soya sauce is still not over powering the chicken meat.

And because I love cucumber, I decided to order additional cucumber to dip with the soya sauce that comes with the chicken.

I always believe that besides the chili sauce, how fragrance and soft the rice is will determine how nice the chicken rice is. Their rice did not fail me. It's authentic and taste wonderful.
