Interesting desserts OK Dec 06, 2011

My group decided to go for some dessert after a heavy steamboat dinner.
Durian pancake

Durian pancake

I ordered the durian pancake. The picture on the menu makes it look rather big. When the item arrives, I was rather disappointed that it is small. Especially for the price of $4.50. There was more fresh cream on the inside than durian paste. They should call it fresh cream pancake with a dash of durian. The paste was rather fresh and yummy though. Would be good if it's bigger or there's more paste inside.
Mixed fruits sago with coconut juice

I actually find this dish abit messy. They have put in too many fruits of different taste in the dish. Totally not my kind of dessert. Doesn't look appealing too. $6.30
Toddy palm iced

Interesting concoction with strong coconut taste. A good thirst quencher. $4.20
Mango iced

Goes well in the throat. Not sure if it is me or it's a norm for this drink, I feel that the mango taste is abit fake. It's like something from the cordial. $4.80

Yummy CKT Smile Dec 06, 2011

Yummy char kway teow (CKT). I have been to this stall a couple of times and there was never once where I have never seen a queue. This ranks next to the one I used to eat at the corner of Mosque Street (Chinatown) which had been closed because the son who took over the stall didn't manage to maintain the same standard.

This CKT is wet, not too sweet and fragrance (pork lard added). The cockles (for those who love those little shells) are fresh and not overcooked. A must try at Zion Road Food Centre! I had the $3 plate.

Big bowl of mala mix Smile Dec 05, 2011

My lunch partner suggested that since I like Mala hot pot, I should try this dish at the foodcourt. You choose your own ingredients and they mix it up for you. I find the mala spicy enough and my partner chose lots of vegetables which I like. The vegetables are fresh and every bit produces crunchy sound. We had cabbage, fungus, lotus roots, celery, luncheon meat, bamboo shoots. The presentation was also quite interesting! It came in this huge bowl that almost look like a basin! We spent $25.15 for the meal which I think it's a little pricey in terms of foodcourt setting.

Quick bite Smile Dec 02, 2011

It was one hot weekend and I was shopping in this really stuffy underground carpark flea market in Scape. As most places were crowded, I decided to grab a quick bite from LJS. The service crew was really patient and waited for me to decide...think I took some time as I didn't know what to order. In the end, I decided to go for the fish and chicken. Instead of serving up on plates, I was given this box like container that normally would be used for fries. And most interestingly, I asked for a packet of chili sauce but was given 5 packets. The sad part is that they didn't give me the crispy flour that the restaurant would normally sprinkle on the plate. Well, this is a grab and go kiosk...can't expect too much smile

Hearty Breakie Smile Dec 02, 2011

Categories : Singaporean | Coffeeshop

Had an early client meeting at Comcentre and decided to take my breakfast before heading back to my office in Raffles Place. Saw that Toast Box was quite empty (only 3 tables were taken) and decided to have my breakfast there.

Ordered the peanut butter toast set. Comes with a cup of ice lemon tea, 2 half boiled eggs and a peanut butter toast. The peanut butter was sparingly spread onto the toasted crispy toast. The eggs was watery....just the way I like it and the ice tea wasn't too sweet. I had one of the best breakfast that day. I think they are worthy competitors of Yakun.
