Carrot cake OK Sep 11, 2012
Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Food Court

Brought a plate of the white carrot cake for lunch at the food village at ngee ann city.
Presentation of the carrot cake is neat and acceptable. The carrot cake is well cooked, has a nice golden brown colour with slight burn sign on some parts of the carrot cake. As for the taste wise, is it sufficiently seasoned and not too salty. The carrot cake is cut into thick pieces and has a soft and spongy texture. The egg mixture is spread evenly onto the carrot cake and chai pok is also added to enhance the taste of the carrot cake. Price is a bit higher as compared to other foodcourt at $4.50 per plate.

After a walk at the basement of ngee ann city, I found a stall selling traditional pastries and decided to buy some home. In the end, I have brought their egg tart, wintermelon fillings pastries and many more. The wintermelon pastries is well made and baked as it has a nice golden brown colour and is poked with several holes for indication purpose. The pastries is well made, has light and flaky texture. As for the wintermelon fillings, it is not too sweet and has a soft texture. As for the egg tart, the pastry is not that crispy but still taste good. Price starts from 80 cents for a tau sar piah onwards.

Categories : Singaporean | Hawker Centre | Kids-Friendly

Brought a cup of the sugar cane juice from this stall during lunch hours.
This cup of sugar cane has a nice and refreshing taste, no sugar syrup is added and the natural sweetness of the sugar cane can be tasted. Texture wise is quite smooth with very slight sediments found. Other than sugar cane juice, this stall also sells the traditional soya bean and the grass jelly drink. Price at $1.20 per cup and is defineitly worth the try.

Brought a plate of the black carrot cake for lunch.
This plate of carrot cake is well cooked, has the right amount of the black soya sauce added and taste not too satly. The carrot cake is evenly cut, not too thick nor thin and has a soft and spongy texture. Sufficient egg mixture is added evenly across the carrot cake. To add extra crunchy texture, chai pok is also added into this plate of carrot cake. Presentation wise is quite appealing with the chopped spring onion sprinkle on top of the carrot cake. Price at $2.50 per plate.
