Wanton noodle Smile Nov 10, 2013
Categories : Singaporean Chinese

brought a bowl of the pontian wanton noodle for lunch. First of all, the seasoning is pretty well done as the chili is hot and spicy, slightly oily and not that salty. Next the noodle is well cooked and is not stick together. As for the deep fried wanton, it has a slight crispiness and the filling is quite little. The sliced char siew is sliced into thin slices and have a slight tender texture. Lastly, the wanton soup is quite bland and comes with 2 small wanton. Apart from wanton noodle, this stall also sells laksa, ipoh hor fun and other noodles as well. [Review from mobile]

Duck rice Smile Nov 10, 2013

Categories : Teochew | Hawker Centre

Decided to try the duck rice from this stall whereby long queue can be seen during lunch hours. Presentation wise is quite neat and can still be improved. First of all, the duck meat is nicely sliced, has a soft and very tender texture and the skin is not too oily. Next the bean curd is well braised and has absorbed the flavours of the spices. As for the chili, the taste is quite fragrance, not too spicy and oily and goes quite well with the duck meat and rice. However, this plate of duck rice did not come with the soup. Price wise is reasonable at around $3+. [Review from mobile]

Vegetarian beehoon Smile Nov 10, 2013
Categories : Food Court | Vegetarian

Brought a packet of the vegetarian beehoon with my favourite food which includes the vegetarian char siew, deep fried tau kee and stir fried cabbage. The char siew is pretty well made, soft and slight tender texture. Next the deep fried tau kee has a crispy texture, fragrance and is not too oily and goes well with the beehoon. As for the stir fried cabbage, it has a home cooked taste and is not overcooked. Lastly, the beehoon is also sufficient cooked, does not stick together and not too oily as
well. [Review from mobile]

Yong tow foo Smile Nov 10, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Food Court

Brought a set of the yong tau foo set meal for lunch today at the nearby food court. This yong tau foo stall is quite different to the traditional stall whereby you can choose your own yong tau foo items. Instead of choosing your own food item, it already has its fixed item which consists of some simple yong tau foo item. The soup base is full of flavours, not oily and is topped with spring onion. This set meal also comes with a bowl of the kangkong with some gravy which I am not able to identify what it is. The kangkong is sufficiently cooked and goes quite well with the soup and the noodle. Lastly, the noodle used has a slightly thinner thickness and is topped with some chicken bits. Overall quite a tasty yong tau foo set which cost around $4.50. [Review from mobile]

Watercress soup with pork ribs Smile Nov 10, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Coffeeshop | Chinese Soup | Noodles

After a walk around the foodcourt, I have decided to buy the watercress soup with pork ribs for lunch. This bowl of watercress soup with pork ribs is full of flavours, very nutrious, healthy, not oily and goes very well with the rice. As for the watercress, it is not overcooked and generous amount is given. Red date and wolfberry is also added into the soup which help to increased the nutrious level. Lastly, the pork ribs is well cooked, soft and tender texture and juicy as it absored the flavours of the watercress soup. Overall, quite a tasty and nutrious bowl of soup and price wise is reasonable. [Review from mobile]
