Duck rice Smile Nov 10, 2013
Categories : Teochew | Hawker Centre

Decided to try the duck rice from this stall whereby long queue can be seen during lunch hours. Presentation wise is quite neat and can still be improved. First of all, the duck meat is nicely sliced, has a soft and very tender texture and the skin is not too oily. Next the bean curd is well braised and has absorbed the flavours of the spices. As for the chili, the taste is quite fragrance, not too spicy and oily and goes quite well with the duck meat and rice. However, this plate of duck rice did not come with the soup. Price wise is reasonable at around $3+. [Review from mobile]

Watercress soup with pork ribs Smile Nov 10, 2013

Categories : Coffeeshop | Chinese Soup | Noodles

After a walk around the foodcourt, I have decided to buy the watercress soup with pork ribs for lunch. This bowl of watercress soup with pork ribs is full of flavours, very nutrious, healthy, not oily and goes very well with the rice. As for the watercress, it is not overcooked and generous amount is given. Red date and wolfberry is also added into the soup which help to increased the nutrious level. Lastly, the pork ribs is well cooked, soft and tender texture and juicy as it absored the flavours of the watercress soup. Overall, quite a tasty and nutrious bowl of soup and price wise is reasonable. [Review from mobile]

Chinese cuisine Smile Nov 10, 2013

Ordered a plate of 3 different types of meat which consists of the roasted pork, duck and char siew. I’m quite amazed with the roasted pork due to crispy skin and the very nice golden brown colour. Not only that, the texture is also very soft and tender and is not very oily. Next the roasted duck is well cooked, the skin is quite fragrance and goes well with the plum sauce. As for the char siew, it is well marinated and cooked and has a soft and tender texture as well. Apart from this plate of meat, I have also ordered the carrot cake, several dim sum and also their famous char siew bun. Overall, their standard and quality of the food has been maintained and price well is also quite reasonable. [Review from mobile]

Lao ban tao huay Smile Nov 10, 2013

Categories : Hawker Centre | Desserts and Cakes

I still remember that Lao Ban soya bean is a stall that I found that is very popular in selling tao huay few years back where long queue can be seen. Up till now, I am glad that after a few years Lao Ban soya bean has opened several outlets apart from their main branch at old airport road hawer centre. The quality of their almond flavoured tao huay still remains with the melt in the mouth sensation, a much soft and smooth texture compared to the traditional tao huay and a very aromatic almond flavour. Apart from selling tao huay, Lao ban soya bean has also started to sell soya bean drinks and also grass jelly dessert which I have yet to try. Price wise is still the same as compared to a few years back. Thumbs up!! [Review from mobile]

Tom yum ban mian Smile Nov 10, 2013
Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Food Court | Seafood | Noodles

normally tom yum is used to cooked the famous thai tom yum soup. However, tom yum can also be incorporated into Chinese cuisine such as the popular ban mian. I’m quite amazed with the
combination of tom yum soup with the ban mian and it really blend quite well. The tom yum soup is full of flavours, hot, spicy and sour, and is not too oily. Apart from the soup, the ban mian is pretty well cooked, not stick together. Other ingredients added are some small prawn and sliced vegetable. Overall, I think that the flavour of the soup can still be improved to give a more refreshing taste. [Review from mobile]
