Satay Smile Dec 14, 2014

Brought a plate of satay after a walk around Changi village. I ordered a total of 5 chicken and 5 mutton satays. The satay was served pipping hot as it was grilled only when ordered. The satay was very well grilled with some slight charcoal area which help to enhance the taste of the satay. Both the chicken and pork meat was well marinated and has a tender texture. As for the satay gravy, it was also served piping hot and there were small chunks of peanuts in it. The gravy was not too watery and goes very well with the satay as well as the sliced onion and cucumber. Overall, quite a tasty meal of satay from this stall and price start from 60 cents per stick for chicken, mutton, pork as well as the satay rice. A minimum of 10 sticks of satay must be ordered at one time.

Duck rice set  Smile Dec 14, 2014

Categories : Hawker Centre | Chicken Rice

It was around lunch time on a weekend and queue can be seen from this stall. So I decided to order some mixed intestine dish as well as their duck meat noodle. First of all, the intestine was very well prepared and cooked. The intestine has no sign of the raw taste and has a very tender texture and slight chewiness. Especially the pig skin, it was sufficient cooked until it is soft and smooth texture. As for the tau kwa and the egg, it was well braised with the dark soy sauce. Next the duck meat was also very well cooked and has a very tender texture. As for the gravy of the intestine dish, it was a bit too salty for my preference. Lastly, their chili comes in two different kinds. One of which is the watery type and the other one is the paste type. Both are well seasoned, prepared and goes very well with all the intestine dishes as well as the duck meat. Price wise is quite reasonable and taste is also quite good. So why not give it a try.

Fried oyster Smile Dec 14, 2014

Whenever I think of ordering fried oyster, popular food market such as old airport road, newton food market, chomp chomp will come to my mind. Because this are the places that offer a wide variety of seafood dishes which include my favourite sambal stingray, fried oyster, sambal lala and many more. I decided to try out the fried oyster from this stall to see is there any difference from the above mentioned food market. First of all, the starch portion is not too concentrated and is mixed thoroughly with the egg mixture. There is a slight crispyness in the starch and egg mixture and does not taste too oily. The oyster used is fresh and quite juicy. As for the chili sauce, it taste refreshing and goes very well with the oyster but I think it is a little too watery. Overall, this plate of fried oyster is quite up to the standard and price wise is also reasonable.

Dessert time !! Smile Dec 14, 2014

Categories : Hawker Centre | Desserts and Cakes

Brought two bowls of dessert from this stall which consists of ice kachang and cendol. First of all, the ice kachang is topped with a generous amount of the sweet corn paste. The ice kachang is also covered with different colouring syrup to bring flavours to the bland taste of the shaved ice. On the bottom of the ice kachang, it includes the traditional ingredients such as the cubed jelly, grass jelly, red bean and as well as the atap seed. Overall, the ice kachang does not taste too sweet and is very refreshing. Next, the presentation of the cendol is quite bland which only includes the addition of the gula melaka syrup. Taste wise is aromatic with the right amount of the gula melaka as well as the coconut milk. Ingredients include several kinds of jelly as well as the atap seed. Sweetness level is also not too sweet. Price is very reasonable and this stall offers a wide variety of dessert that will cater to every individual.

Categories : Hawker Centre

Time to crave for some ngoh hiang and coincidentally found this stall. I ordered several ingredients which include the prawn crackers, deep-fried you tiao with sesame seeds, yam filling ngoh hiang, fish cutlet and many more. First of all, the prawn cracker is very crispy and has an aromatic prawn taste. Next, with the addition of the sesame seeds to the you tiao, it help to enhance the flavour and at the same time giving an aromatic taste. All of the ingredients is well deep fried and surprisingly it does not taste oily. Lastly, the sauce does not taste too spicy and is not too watery as well. Overall, quite a good standard of ngoh hiang from this stall.
