Dinner buffet Cry Aug 28, 2012
Categories : Japanese | Buffet

Decided to try the dinner buffet at Kuishinbo. It starts at 5:30PM and there was a queue starting from 5:00PM.

Kuishinbo has a relatively wide variety of food for the buffet. There are sushi, teppanyaki, soba, oden, paper nabe pots, seafood such as crabs and scallops, gingseng porridge, desserts, and the list goes on. Unfortunately, even though its known that Kuishinbo has lobsters, they not only serve a limited amount of it, it is only served at approximately 7:00PM+. Unfortunately by then I was already full and running out of patience.

Overall, the food is pretty much very average. Fresh, but no "OMG SO DELICIOUS" moment. I personally liked the snow crabs even though they weren't that tasty (I mean crabs are probably the only way for you to get back you money in their buffet).

After the buffet, I wasn't quite satisfied with the dining experience and definitely do not see myself going back for the dinner buffet anymore. Its too expensive for a range of average and relatively cheap food for its price.
It costs around $38.90 for one adult dinner buffet if you leave before 7:00PM. You'll be able to save $5 if you leave earlier.

Teriyaki Chicken Pasta Cry Aug 27, 2012
Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato | Pasta | Steaks and Grills | Halal

Decided to have lunch at Swensen's. I had the student meal, which is only $9.80 for a food item (excluding main course and several pastas) and free flow of soft drink. Ordered for the Teriyaki Chicken Pasta and coke light. The Teriyaki Chicken Pasta is spaghetti with grilled chicken in teriyaki sauce, with the side of the veg-of-the-day. I requested for the veg to be removed and they offered to replace it with fries. (A service I believe many will appreciate)

The chicken is tender and moist. However, the teriyaki sauce completely ruined the dish to the extent that I probably only had 20% of it. The teriyaki sauce tasted like black pepper sauce and is very bitter. Only thing that was of acceptable standard was the fries.

Definitely will not recommend this food item to anyone but Swensens has good service and food variety so its still a good place to dine in as long as I don't encounter any more of such bitter food.

BBQ Chicken Chop Cry Aug 25, 2012
Categories : Taiwanese | Desserts and Cakes

Was hungry after shopping at Bugis Street so decided to buy the BBQ Chicken chop at I <3 Taimei. After ordering I had to wait for like 5 full minutes...which I consider a little too long for a street store since you're basically standing there waiting to leave. It took so long because the chicken chop had to be dipped in the flour and crust, then be fried, and then barbecued.

It definitely wasn't worth the wait. Firstly, they cut it up in HUGE chunks that are impossible to finish within 2 bites. Secondly, the chicken is dry. Lastly, the chicken has bones. Like seriously, who actually buys chicken chop with bones to eat while on the go? However, the BBQ taste is very authentic and unique to I <3 Taimei.

Although I did enjoy the taste, it was too much hassle and I definitely not will buy it again. Just FYI, it was only $4.00 for a really huge piece of chicken chop.

Tasteless Lor Mee Cry Aug 23, 2012
Categories : Singaporean | Food Court | Porridge/Congee | Brunch

Bought Lor Mee from this stall for lunch. I requested for no vinegar, which probably was a big mistake. The soup has no taste at all. Most diners probably rely on the vinegar to give it some flavouring. The noodles wasn't too bad though. It didn't have the "yellow noodles smell" which I absolutely dislike. The meat, egg, etc. are all pretty average with no uniqueness at all. Overall, it was like eating noodles in coloured (stickier) water. Definitely will not try it again.

Price: $3.80

Chicken ee mian  Cry Oct 09, 2011
Categories : Teochew | Food Court | Hawker Centre | Brunch

I've had the chicken claypot with ee mian from this stall several times in the past actually. Unfortunately, the sauce has become too bland for my liking and the chicken is almost tasteless. I do like the original taste though, when the sauce had a slight teriyaki sauce taste. To make matters worse, this stall has one of the worst customer service towards teenagers one can expect. Not the best stall in Kopitiam for sure considering its items are priced pretty high, food isn't that good and service is terrible.

However, I do recommend their claypot rice. Just don't try the chicken ee mian. Its not worth the money.
